    Wow! Thanks for this video. I have an R53 and really want this wing... the installation looks a bit harder than I thought and Sneed4Speeds below response isn't what I expected it would be. They indefinably should include instructions for the R53 model before advertising it works with it. I might still get one in the future but mannnnn is this a job. Cheers!

      No problem man, just trying to show everyone the truth about installing things. I definitely recommend it though! The adjustability is amazing and it creates a lot less drag than most other wings.

      @@hpgarage3531 Do you remember what additional part sizes you needed for the install? What size were the bolts you bought from the store? (If you remember lol)

      @@Bradafer sorry man I don't remember. I just took the hardware they did give me and ran to lowes and got more of it.

    You know rear down force on a front wheel drive isn't any benefit, in fact it can cause understeer, on a front wheel drive the rear end of the car needs to be light so that on a fast corner it can drift just a little bit which helps the front end turn tighter. I have built many race and rally cars and have proved this point on the track.....

      I can agree that, generally, rear downforce on a front wheel drive car is not beneficial. But when paired with more downforce upfront, such as a splitter, it is greatly beneficial. It allows for better braking and conering. You just have to adjust it correctly, which I'm sure you already know.

    You installed the side mounts upside down. The double shear bracket goes on the front of the wing not the back. It fits over the mount. You install the hatch mount, wing and then the stanchions rods. That way you can easily locate the lower mounts. If you had watched our install video first, your install would have been a lot easier.

      Yeah we are aware they are mounted upside-down, we liked the way that looked better. The problem we were having with the double shear bracket was that all of the stanchions were to wide to fit between it. We were actually using your video as a guide and your steps were hatch mount, stanchion rods and then the wing. We had no problem locating the lower mounts at all. Most of the issues we had installing the kit we could work around, however, the lack of install instructions for the R53 was our biggest issue.

      H&P Garage. Thanks for purchasing the wing and we're sorry you had trouble installing the wing. The double shear brackets go over the hatch mount and the rod end goes on the side of the double shear bracket. The bolts that hold the brackets to the wing are very close to the rod end when installed. Most of the time you can loosen and slide the bracket around to get the rod end to fit or you can slightly over drill the mounting hole and they'll slide in.
      Turning the side plates upside down greatly reduces down force.

      SneedSpeed Okay the double shear bracket going over the hatch mount makes sense. During our install we were using pictures from your website to figure out how to tackle that part and it looks like the pictures there either have it cut like we did or have single shear brackets. How does it greatly reduce the downforce to have the side plate upside-down? I will have to turn them right side up!

      A wing generates most of its power (down force or lift for airplanes) from the curve of the wing. If you look at an airplane wing with the ends turned up (like a 747), that's the same thing as a race car wing with the end plates turned down. An air plane wing turned upside down pushes the plane towards the ground, the way you want to push the car. The end plate propose is to control air spillage off the edge of the wing and make the wing more efficient. If you reduce the size of the panel on the edge of the convex side of the wing then you reduce air flow over the convex wing surface and reduce down force on a car or lift on a plane. Hope that helps.

      St33zy Steve I definitely did. I liked the way it looked upside-down better. I didn't even think to clarify that in the video. Thanks for pointing that out!

    Hey guys any tips on how you measured where to drill the holes so it’s centered? Gonna be doing this install tomorrow most likely and trying to make it as smooth as possible

      A whole lot of measuring. We spent more time measuring than anything else on this project.

      I dont have any real tips for you though. Just find a few points on either side and do your best to measure from those

    Where is the kit from mate?

      @hpgarage3531  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sam Shurety the kit for the wing is from sneed4speed. The roll bar is also from them but I had a local shop add to it to make it a 6 point cage.
