    Paint sprayer didn't work out quite as I hoped, still got a good layer of primer down though. Y'all got any tips for laying down a smooth layer with one of those?

      Airless is not for "automotive" type work. Its for houses, doors, garage doors etc. That said, for a simple jon boat restoration, it's better than hand brushing/rolling.

      Do thin coats. never go over a spot twice before it drys

    You didn’t remove all the paint like your first build because it was factory paint, right? I’m hoping to just sand the factory paint on my Jon boat like you did with this one.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's correct, if the factory paint is in good condition no need to remove it!

    Did you paint the epoxy on the bottom and if so did you sand it befor you painted it

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I painted it, a light scuffing but nothing serious.

    Did you scuff the coat-it before you painted it?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very lightly, cleaning it with degreaser is also very important.

    Was the Topside Paint, Battleship gray color you used for under water line use. I wanted that color for my jon boat, but I couldn’t find that color for under the waterline use. I could only find that brand in light gray. Which I didn’t like.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it was the "Topside" line of paints I used for the bottom color.

      @@mvboutdoors did you ever have any issues with this paint, specifically under the water line, as time went on? I’m just not sure why the Topside says it’s not for below the waterline. My boat is going to be mostly on the trailer, so maybe it won’t be an issue.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pwinnett222 No issues at all, I believe its more referring to boats that sit in the water perpetually.

    How does this paint hold? I’m reading mixed reviews

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely no issues with the primer sticking to the boat under the water line, or the paint for that matter. I've had chips from physical impacts but nothing flaking off or anything like that. It's also super easy to touch when up when it was needed.
