I was 21 in this year. Seeing Maxims, Central Park (for the over 25s) and Ritzy's. Every weekend round town when it used to be such a lively night out. There was so much there then. Miss those days. Great memories, cheers.
Brilliant videos of Bolton town centre, thank you . brought back lots of good memories and some sad ones too, lots of changes even then to the old Bolton, even more so now,and very few for the better
Thank you so much for doing this. Great memories preserved on this tragic day that spelled the death-knoll for Bolton town centre as a shopping destination: the town will no longer have a Marks and Spencer, the last of the giant retailers to desert the town centre.
Alison's books and the cafe in the same building was one of our favourite places. It was where the Casa Blanca cafe had been in the 1960s. All gone now. Sad.
@Thedoctorsbiggestfan yes totally agree, so wish i'd just filmed more, especially the cinemas - so many happy memories there, and Burnden Park - but i have more of that hope to put on later, thanks for your comments
this video is amazing, i was still at The Deane school at the time, thank you Ishnam Munshi. What has happened to Bolton it looks terrible now, the town hall is fenced off and the benches seem hard as opposed to the wood style benches in victoria square. Bolton in 1992 looks busier. hope it touches everyone in Bolton that remebers the good times
I was in my 2nd year at deane school, hate the way bolton looks now, lost its soul ☹ if only there was a time machine? People say "don't look back" but that's when it was a happier place, hope your well 😎👍
Woww... This video brings me back there when I was studying at Bolton Institute of Higher Education from 1991 till 1994. Lots of sweet memories of my life as a student. I can see here the places I had been, Town hall, Marks and Spencer, WH Smith, Booth to name a few. It is nearly 30 yrs now since I left Bolton back for good. I wish I can come back again and visit Bolton, to look around where I stayed, Beaconsfield Street, Gibraltar st, Elsmere st. A1 taxi and etc. I used to go to Manchester on Saturday 25 mins by train. Sometimes we went to London on the weekend which cost £38 return. I love Bolton. The people were very nice.
Don't bother.. it's all gone now.. just another run down drug and beggar infested shithole.. boarded up or demolished.. nowhere you remember will be there except maybe Booths. I got out in the early 2000's.. used to live not far up the road from you on Alice St.
It's depressing to look now, to see the amount of boarded-up shops and demolished buildings - all victim to a greedy economy that only caters for big corporate business...
Good memories, a real shame its now such a shit hole.Thought I'd stumbled in to a drug infested refugee camp last time I had the misfortune to be in town. My nomination for worst council in Britain over the last twenty years goes to.......
it was hard not to look at what has changed compared to now and think what the hell happened over the years. I mostly go there now only when I have to cause it's so boring and miserable at times. This looks like a town centre i'd like visiting on a regular basis. Thanks for these videos it was really interesting to look back, man I remembered more than I thought I did.
James Smethurst I was going to say "we will not have passed if we allow the past to be bypassed" Took me all day to think of it but its not as good as yours hahaha :)
It's the incidental things..the old buildings on bow street that are now Argos wall and yard, a glimpse of the boars head on churchgate before it was flattened and varsity ( hogarths) built there, and the railway pub ( in its guise as quill and pen) that make this video. Doesn't seem that long ago..but might as well be a different era. Superb.
@beamwand thanks Beamwand, afraid i can't do a modern day video - haven't been back to Bolton for 3 years now! Don't get me started on politicians ! See "Gimme Somethin that works"
@tomharding you're spot on Tom she was telling me to hurry up ! lol She still does that. She appears in the video from time to time and now hates the "poodle" hairdo that she had all those years ago. I've got loads more Tom going to take me ages to edit it all. Thanks mate, take care.
It was indeed a vibrant town to grow up in. The 70?s vibes from Liverpool and Manchester, just a hop and a skip away, and yeay yeay yeay, Yeay Yeay Yeay !!!!
i am looking for the exact location of the JAMM studios recording studios it was in Bolton and has most probably been built on, can anyone tell me where it was or has pictures etc

born and bred in Bolton, anybody remember Proffitts radio and television in Knowlsley street, probally gone by this date.
I loved that shop, all the top gear. I bought an Aiwa walkman from there with auto reverse, slimline n all.
6.43 is my favourite part of bolton town, small shops hidden away. takes you to another place for a few minutes of your life.

Your video broke my heart, how I long to be back in Bolton and that's a thankyou!
I'm from bolton and that has definitely taken me back it's a shame it's no longer like it was back in 1992.
Not a single person looking at a mobile phone👍🏻
i wonder why in 1992, no one was looking at their iphone 11... hmmmmmm...
These are amazing… Thank you so much 😊
Glad you like them!

Makes you realise how important it is to keep a record of the present to present as a present to the future.
clever
ishnum munshi you are the clever one dude - a contribution to history is not to be down played but uploaded and applauded.
James Smethurst I was going to say "we will not have passed if we allow the past to be bypassed" Took me all day to think of it but its not as good as yours hahaha :)
Bloody hell the old Co-op building being knocked down. LOL C&A. Unreal, thanks again for posting all this.
