      Here in Europe they had problems with their Diesel engines were the turbos went out to the price of a cool 2.500-3.000$, in my country of residence most were covered under warranty, but som that had slightly to high km had to pay out of pocket. This was mainly a problem on the CX-5 with the 2.2l diesel turbo 175hp variant....

      My parents had a 88 Ford Taurus that lasted for over 300,000 before it finally died. It never had any major issues either. They kept up with oil changes & kept up with the maintenance. The last car they had was a Mercury Milan. The car had low mileage & the car stayed in the family when they both passed on. My brother had a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition that had over 200,000 miles. He finally bought another SUV. I have a 2018 Lincoln MIKZ 2.0 Liter Reserve AWD. I have very low mileage. If I can keep the battery charged. It’s a beautiful car & it’s fun to drive. It has 238 horsepower & 268 pound feet of torque. It’s the fastest 4 cylinder that I ever had. I had a 2011 Lincoln MKZ 6 cylinder. It had low mileage. I upgraded to my 2018 Lincoln MKZ. My family & I have had good luck with Ford. I did have a 89 Ford Probe LX. That car was a piece of junk. I was always replacing something. The motor mount was the last straw. I had an extended warranty so I lucked out without having to pay for the parts.

      This video is ridiculous there are a bunch of studies that actually study the reliability of cars find this one made my OCU testing 52,430 cars in 5 countries:
      1. Lexus 95/100
      2. Subaru 93/100
      3. Toyota 91/100
      4. Mitsubishi 89/100

      9. Mazda 85/100
      10. Seat 85/100 (first not asian car)
      Now American or English brands...
      22. Ford 80/100
      31. Jeep 72/100
      33. Chevrolet 68/100
      36. Land Rover 64/100

    Maintenance is a key, unless a vehicle is a total disaster. All of my vehicles made it past 200,000 mile mark (BMW, Scion, Mazda, Grand Cherokee, VW), the only exception was Alfa Romeo - regardless of care that thing just dies and there’s nothing you can do about it.

    • @External2737
      @External2737 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      BMW maintenance was brutally expensive. Yes, good maintenance helps. Change oil < 5k miles and change transmission fluid early.
      However, some brands just have issues. E g., so many CVTs.

    • @willbelokur5621
      @willbelokur5621 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      BMW, Land Rover/Rangerover, Alfa Romeo, Kia and Subaru are all companies that should be stayed far away from as they all fall apart quickly and are expensive to fix (aside from Subaru they’re cheap to fix)

  • @vayanor1726
    @vayanor1726 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    For those in the market for a new car, keep in mind that it does not matter how long a car can last in theory. If you dont take proper care of it with regular oil changes and maintenance, it will not last long no matter the brand. If youre looking for a used car, make sure you check that it received regular maintenance and changes, even if it does have low mileage. Some cars can last very long even with high mileage if they were serviced regularly. Most brands will last awhile if taken care of properly, but the ones he listed are definitely the best when it comes to lasting long and at a lower price.

    Cutting edge Small engine development means Japanese. Going back to post war Japan in the 50’s is when the big 5 made top of the heap in the car biz. The same in the Motorcycle industry Suzuki,Kawasaki, Yamaha and Honda are the kings in engine development. My Toyota Camry has 275,000 miles on it and burns very little oil between oil changes 3-3500 miles every time. The transmission is showing it’s age slightly from first to second it shifts a little rough occasionally but everything still works and it’s a 1997. My oldest daughter took it to college for 3 years and even she couldn’t kill it. I have replaced coils, radiator and hoses, alternator and valve cover gasket and brakes. AC blows cold as new. Very impressed. I have owned FORD and CHEVY Suburbans and Expeditions when my kids were growing up and love a large SUV, and will buy another one soon, but I am impressed with how little time and money my Toyota requires, rock solid dependable. Good show👍

      -- Here in US of A, we don't have Volvo models that was designed in collaboration with Renault, and Ford never could force Volvo to put crappy eco-boost engines in them, so 2.5 litters or over 3.0 litters are pretty much proven to be bullet prove engines, so long they coupled to Assin transmission(yet, another important ingredient that makes Volvo last long), 1/4 million miles are not a problem on these cars. I love XC60 how it's build and drives... IDK how those cars are for Europe, since gas are a lot cheaper here, and I'm getting 18-19mpg on 3.0L Turbo(yes, it provokes you to drive like a numb nut, that is why I prefer 3.2L), and 21-23mpgs on 3.2L inline short block six, very smooth running engines. And, yes I used to own couple 240DLs, 850, V70s, and now XC60. None(but one) of Volvo died on me, most made to over 200K and more, I just sold for pretty much what I bought 'em for with ~150K miles more on them, and nothing wrong with them mechanically, for newer more exciting model. It feels like for ever for XC60 to drop in price below $5000...
      -- If Volvo's would not exist, I'd be Honda guy to the bone, but humbly "Volvo for Life" is the ticket.

      There were teething issues from the late 2010s since it was an all mew design then, but by mechanical design, it is reliable. Most teething issues stem from electronic modules that control shifting, but that is mostly a thing of the past. All in all, they are much more reliable than any automatic transmission that Honda implemented before, including the ZF9

Honda is not as dependable as they once were, but still "head and shoulders" above the rest. Toyota has a bulletproof reputation for quality and dependablity. This video is ridiculous there are a bunch of studies that actually study the reliability of cars find this one made my OCU testing 52,430 cars in 5 countries:
    1. Lexus 95/100
    2. Subaru 93/100
    3. Toyota 91/100
    4. Mitsubishi 89/100
    5. KIA 89/100
    6. Suzuki 89/100
    7. Hyundai 87/100
    8. Honda 87/100
    9. Mazda 85/100
    10. Seat 85/100 (first not asian car)
    Now American or English brands...
    22. Ford 80/100
    31. Jeep 72/100
    33. Chevrolet 68/100
    36. Land Rover 64/100
    Sorry to mention that your bias or kpi choose is wrong and missleads. I can make a bad car like ford last 500,000 miles, I would just need to go for repairs, but does not indicare that ia a good car. Americans car are generally bad, poor engineering.
