  • How I like to prep my quilts with no batting. Sorry the bottom is cut off, I will shot another video as soon as I have a new quilt to do and hope it works out better when uploaded. For more on no batting quilts, I have another video up in that.

    In my grandmother's pre-air conditioning time she called these summer quilts. Your quilts are very pretty.

    Wow! A Quilting Rebel! Pleased to have you in my queue! My next " quilt", a scrap top, a heavy flannel sheet as batting, and a fleece blanket starring as the bottom.

    I LOVE no batting quilts!! I have made several for myself and family friends. They have all loved them as well 😃

    No batting quilt sounds good! I’ve thought about doing this as the quilted top of a duvet cover. This now makes me more sure about it. 🙌🏻Thanks!

    I really LOVE the work you did on your quilt, it looks absolutely beautiful, just my style. I also love how you stick up for yourself regarding the quilt police. Iam also a bit of a rebel with my quilting, no one is going to tell me what I like in my quilts. Years ago I was told that for a pale pink, blue and cream design I also needed to put a "zinger" in it. I dont know if you know that terminology, its like a cat among the pidgeons. Anyway, I said no to that, and the teacher didnt like me after that. I continued with my quilt and it turned out perfect for my blue bedroom, I still use it and love it immensely, so thank you for sharing !!!

    I love, respect and applaud your style and philosophy.
    No need to apologize to critics. Beg for forgiveness and offer explanations only when the quilt police come to arrest you.

    If one does really want to clean off the quilt back and front, vacuum it first with a small, clean hand held vacuum cleaner and then use a lint roller, until it's clean. That make sure it's free of threads and stuff. Another way is to put the top and then the back into a dryer on the air cycle only, no heat, that will remove a lot of extraneous stuff on the quilt, then use a lint roller.

    Pretty quilt!
    Since i live in a state that borders Canada ❄, I put a layer of flannel as batting on my no batting quilts. 😂
    Flannel is washed and dried on hot, 3x first.

    I have a king size quilt top and backing I made about 10yrs ago. Way too big for me to quilt on my machine. Too stressful to even think about handquilting. After watching this I think I can make it into a duvet cover. I actually love it and just want it on my bed one way or another! Thanks for the inspiration to finally get it done! ❤

    I’m SO happy you came into my feed ❣️ I’m NOT a quilter 🤦🏻‍♀️…my son in law asked me to make him a T-shirt quilt about 5 years ago. I AM a craft hoarder 🤣 I had fusible interfacing & a bag of polyester batting. Got my QAYG degree from TH-cam & made 2 quilts. His Mom saw them & asked if I would make her 1 with the shirts she had been saving from her Mom for 15 years.🙏 Would I also make 1 for her sister & by the way…she also saved her dad’s shirts🤦🏻‍♀️. I just finished the last one ❣️ (short video of it on my channel) Those quilts are HEAVY but they live in the North East so they LOVE them. I’m in FL. My brother in law asked me to make him one. He has ALS & I have to make it lighter 🤔….so from the bottom of my heart…Thank you🙏🥰🙏

    I always wondered how a layer of pre-shrunk flannel would do in place of batting. I thought I would want a layer so the backing wouldn't show through. But I'll definitely do a no batting quilt before I bother about the flannel.

    • @sewfundy
      @sewfundy  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      There is always the possibility of the backing showing up if you used a lot of white or lights on the top, I usually use lots of whites so I back in the same white :)

      Flannel is heavy when wet and takes a lonnnng time to dry (depending on content perhaps?).

      I have used flannel instead of native g for baby quilts the guilt is actually more flexible than the stuff quilt with batting. I also tried for a regular size and the person loved it,she said it was very cozy.❤

      I LOVE using flannel in place of batting. It is flows so much more and lightweight and easily wraps right around the body. It is my favorite way to quilt.

    This is great! My question is do the seams on the back of the top part show through on the bottom fabric on some way?

    • @sewfundy
      @sewfundy  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Very good question and yes they can. I do use a lot of off white so my backs tend to be off white and you can see to a degree. but as you dont show that side, its not really noticed in general.
      If the top contains no white, you can use any back you want.
