We've had such a run of mild, snowless winters here in the northeast and the NYC area in particular these past 3 winters heading into this one that if we just have an average winter in terms of cold and snow in 2024-25, it'll go down AS A MUCH COLDER winter than the past few COMBINED. For example, if we get 25 inches of snow in NYC this winter (which we get ON AVERAGE annually), it'll be more snow than we got the past three winters COMBINED.
NJ (shore area) here and I totally agree with you regarding the past three winters have been pretty tame. I think we'll have the same weather this year as we had for the past three winters.
Central Ohio here I do not remember a cold and snowy winter truthfully since being a child the only substantial winter I remember was 2014 going into 2015 as an adult. We had a lot of snow and cold. I am so ready for it. Bring on tons of snow and freezing weather.

That was the same system that brought Tallahassee Florida first accumulated measureable amount of snowfall since Dec of 1989. Flurries since then but no significant accumulations.
I’m in the NE and the past 2 years we’ve been predicted to have very cold and snowy winter. Instead we’ve had almost no snow and average to hotter than average temperatures. We used to get snow in March and sometimes in April, but now we get up to the 70’s to 80’s temperatures in those 2 months.
The '96 superstorm had a recipe of both a nor'easter and blizzard wrapped up in a nice package that dumped close to 40 inches of snow here in New Jersey with wicked winds hitting in some areas over 70 mph. Plus, flooding happened up and down the Shore
I have noticed that in the past when there was a somewhat mild La Niña the area that I live in (Binghamton, Ny area) and the surrounding areas of the interior northeast had record breaking snowfall totals. In 2020-2021 our area had 100.1 inches of snow when our average snowfall total is 64” + depending on where you are getting the info from. We had one storm in December 2020 that dropped 41 + inches of snow. In 2016-2017 we had a record year of 135.2 inches with a storm in march dropping over 36 inches in 24 hours. But who knows if there is something to it or not because in 1993 (aka the “storm of the century” or the blizzard of 93 ) our area didn’t have the highest amount of snowfall for a single storm at 21+ inches but ended up having a record year snowfall total 137.8 inches
Just watched a major channel's winter forecast and they have all the country but the Rockies as warm and dry. Happy so see that in Western Maryland there's a chance for a decent winter on your channel.
I know, right I’m up here in Ohio and when I was a kid, we hit the slopes every day sledding. We hardly ever get any snow now it sucks. I miss the snow.
Central Indiana has had very little rain this spring and summer. And now it appears will have very little snow. We haven't had over 8-12 inches of snow for years.....just a few inches here and there. We used to get several feet of snow......such a shame. Our kids may never see a large snowfall unlless they head north.
The last time I saw temps like these in October in Massachusetts, we had 80 degree days in January. Maybe 8 or so years ago. I was working at a junkyard and was outside in shorts.

For once it’s not Montana that gets hit with the first snowfall unfortunately this nice beautiful warm weather won’t last though the crap is going to hit on Thursday! Wish you guys would keep the cold and snow!
Yes, we had a big snow in the mid-state of South CAROLINA on 31 Oct 2014 and don’t forget Snow jam 14 in the Atlanta, GA area.
