    I heat my oil to 175/180c before adding the dough. I use a 1 1/2 Table spoon cookie scoop (looks like a metal ice cream scoop) to keep the balls even size, rhis way you know they are all cooked through. It alos handy for meatballs or anything you want the same size/weight.

      @@gawaskitchen when my son who is Coeliac and his wife come over I'll be giving them this as a snack!! Friends ( oh..we discussed you and your lovely easy to follow recipes) said it's like puff puff..I said puff puff included yeast..and "drop d's" /bollas don't have yeast as it is as you said almost like a pancake batter!! (I usually do the baking/cooking) and they do the eating!!! I miss at times South Africa as in our village half the ingredients for baking and cooking we don't have..and I'm definitely not going to Dublin for ingredients!! I've made do and survived for 20 years so Shukran to you as my friends too say you'd be a Chef this neck of the woods..Your recipes are really so easy to follow..Congrats and have an amazing ( 🍂 Autumn this end) weekend!! God bless and do be safe! Xx🌹🌻🥰

    What is the difference between Bollas and Koesisters?

    • @gawaskitchen
      @gawaskitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Koesisters is a yeast spiced doughnut a bolla is just fried vanilla batter and doesn't contain yeast

    Hi Gawa. Im Shereen from Durban and made these Bolas yesterday. I must admit they are similar to Krispy doughnuts. My husband is on diet and i was reprimanded for starting something as tasty as these.. They do brown very easy even on the lowest heat whereas the inside are still wet.. I then added more butter milk and it turned out perfect.. Brought some to the office today abd it disappeared. Thanm you for sharing ❤

    Will plain yogurt work in place of buttermilk?

    • @gawaskitchen
      @gawaskitchen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I never made it with plain yogurt .You might have to thin it out a bit because it's thicker than buttermilk

    • @gawaskitchen
      @gawaskitchen  ปีที่แล้ว

      U can try making your own butter milk by adding 1 tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice to a cup of milk and let it stand few minutes, but I've Always used buttermilk as Recipe states so can't say

    Hi lady must it be butter milk

    • @gawaskitchen
      @gawaskitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I prefer buttermilk, but some people make their own by using a cup of milk and a tablespoon on vinegar or lemon juice, but I never tried it, so I can't say if the outcome will be the same.
