Met him in 93 when I was 8 and he was the most gracious person I've ever met.. So giving of his time and humble.. I'm a staunch Port supporter but he is still my football hero 🤘 Long Live Modra
Scraping the bottom of the barrel. Met him down in Hobart in 2015 at the Salamanca markets at a local cafe. Tried to cut the line in front of me. Total flog.
Being a fanatical Crows fan as a kid…..every time I would ask for an autograph he was the nicest & most respectful Crow even at the height of his career. I remember him, Nigel Smart and McDermott signing autographs at an in store at a mall when I was 10 years old. Modra was angry some adults were blocking me and personally made sure I got autographs from all three players. He said ‘here ya go mate, I even got Bones to sign for you (McDernott).
My favorite Open Mike of all. Just such a humble, self deprecating bloke who doesn't push his own agenda at all in this. Seems very happy with what he achieved, where he is at, and takes responsibility for some things that went wrong. A fantastic insight into a player that didn't really speak a lot publicly when playing.
It takes a whole season to win a premiership, I have never understood why AFL wasn't like Football (Soccer) and just give a medal to the entire squad. Who care who played on the day, it takes a whole season to make it happen. There should be a rule, if you've played say 3 games for a club in a season and they win a premiership, you get a medal too. What's the harm?
I would have like to hear more about his time over at Fremantle. The experience of being in that new side without much success, being part of that first Western Derby win etc.
We Dockers fans loved him. What a champ. He was out of place at Freo though ....we didn't have the team to support someone with his amazing star power and incredible aura.

Modra generated a lot of income for the Adelaide football club and in return Modra was treated like garbage. If Adelaide treats its players like this they deserve to be at the bottom of the ladder.
I reckon Tony Modra's one of the Best Blokes in AFL history , such a humble Guy , & one of the most talented Footballers ever ,

Met him at my pub in canberra and couldn’t meet a nicer bloke. Really nice fella and a great family man

Dropped in the 1998 finals & snubbed for an invite. Disgraceful treatment for one of our greatest.
What a smashing humble man he is
Well said 👏👏👏
Such a shame he missed out on 97 and 98. All class in how he’s handled it though. I’d be so gutted, even 20 years on. 👏🏻💯

@@nathand4500 your story is getting old when it is posted on most of these about a lot of different players. Flog.
one of afl's best players without a doubt!!!
Up there with Ricciuto and McLeod as the Crows greatest ever. Fantastic player.
Damn, this interview didn't let me down. What a class act.
What a humble legend!
He is incredibly humble isn't he.
Great human being, I really liked his attitude towards parenting, letting kids be kids and not putting all this pressure on them. Very wise.
Would've liked to have heard more about his off field antics as he was pretty loose back in the day. On the field, one of the best I've ever seen.
GODRA my first hero when I was a kid

Even as a Bulldog supporter really felt for him in 1997 and 98, terrible what happened to him.

Great bloke
One of my 3 hero’s. Thank god he played back then, The camera phones would’ve ended him prematurely these days.
90s = Golden age for full forwards
Dunstall
Ablett
Modra
Locket
Lloyd
What a time to be a kid.
Even the 2nd tier full forwards were kicking 5-10 a game and selling thousands of tickets off their boots
Soo good
Prob should drop Lloyd from that list but spot on otherwise
@@mackamotorsport2593 Lloyd kicked more goals than Modra?
@@georgelee229 Modra earnt them.
Lloyd just flopped for 90% of his.
That mark against north, just a classic pack mark with elevation and a smack from arch to top it off, superb mark.
Mods was the best. I was 6 in 1997 and lived in my Crows jumper with number 6 on the back.

good man
One of those blokes you never hear a single bad word about.
he looks a lot like professional aussie bodybuilder, lee priest..
So what if he misses a training its modra!!
4:26 I went to this game as a 7 year old. Modra kicked 10, Carey kicked 8 and we won by 2 points 😊
‘were you partaking of alcohol at the lunch?’ bahahaha
Benn Eden Mike Sheahan is such a tosser. It’s not a police interrogation mate! 😂
What a gun
Mike, if he "literally exploded" you wouldn't be talking to him.
I'm a fanatic crows fan not and raised in Melbourne, everyone says what's adelaide why - I answer them every time MODRA
excuse me, can you upload Leigh Matthews documentary vhs video?
Will you be uploading the 2015 afl draft full coverage bc you are the only channel that does it in great quality. Cheers✌🏻️
Not a soccer area at Christies and why questions when you know as a reporter ? Says a lot

Should have been a cricketer. Played every one of old mate's question with a straight bat.

Cut in front of you in a cafe did he? Yep-monster up there with Hitler for sure!
