I'm a Carlton supporter always liked & admired Ayresy like that great Hawthorn team especially from that golden era.Personally I hope Gary gets another opportunity to coach at AFL level:)
And to think Port Melbourne got rid of him ? They will never find better and will go down as one of the worse decisions in Port Melbournes 147 year history.
The Rock , the name given as he was solid as a Rock. Two Norm Smith Medals Premierships , and he was tough and had a bit of talent that combined with the rest of that team and you had a dominant force.
He didn’t see the real Carey in 2003. He definitely isn’t shy. This was after the incident at north and he went to a new club and was reserved. Was also shot as a player at that time. But at North he was the leader of the whole team off the field and the most extroverted.
I'm a Geelong supporter and I fucking hated Gary Ayres. I thought he was a good player but wasn't up to coaching at the elite level. Best decision Geelong ever made besides sacking John Devine was sacking Gary Ayres.
When we eat, we also swallow air. Also, when the food gets digested in the intestines, gas is produced. These gases when passed out through the intestine form the anus into the air are called farts. The gases that make farts smell bad contain ammonia and hydrogen sulfide which are made in the intestine.
I hated this bloke as well but he comes across well here. He was a sensational back pocket player for Hawthorn. I think he might have lacked a few social skills.
What a sook when the Crows told him he wasn't going to be renewed, which he had been asked to be told ASAP. No wonder no AFL club has wanted him since even as an assistant, completely lacking in professionalism.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel. Met him down in Hobart in 2015 at the Salamanca markets at a local cafe. Tried to cut the line in front of me. Total flog.
Gary Ayres was one of my favorite players to watch in the 80s,tough,skillful, the ultimate team man in a very good side.👍
I’ve sen em all, and that was the best one.
Absolute legend. Tough as teak, a ball player. Gee they were awesome the Hawks.

As am I.
He was fearless and consistent.
As for losing your father that way - brutal.
Absolute gentleman.
Won 2 flags at Portmelb as individual side no AFL players should be given another chance at AFL he is a better coach now at his peak now
Agreed. He needs another go. Why Reece Shaw gets a gig and he doesn't....
Agreed. But he did alright at Adelaide, just failed in 2004

Gary was great. With Mew, Langford and Collins they were a defensive wall.
Another good interview and yes his mullet was far and away better than Sticks!
It was hard listening to what happened to his father. That's going to knock anyone around.

Jeans put it better. "A good driver in heavy traffic."
His real nickname was conan! As conan the barbarian!!
jeans was a freemason so were the umpires thats how it went so well
Is that right he was a mason and the umpires as well.

Robbed in 2002. Right in front of me! It was a balmy evening. Taxi!
Who’s this the Crows in which game?
Galllly ayres a one in a million hairstyle
Had a perm he admits here

@boganus699 He's a shit coach. The facts back this up. This idiot traded the #2 pick for a cooked Wayne Carey, he set the Cats and Crows back years.
Geelong didn't sack Ayres. Get your facts right.
@@RobKieranz You're a bit late commenting but nevertheless, if Geelong didn't sack Ayres, they should have.
good lord cant some of these guys lighten up just a bit?? Many of these guys take themselves way too seriously.
Seems to be a simmering discontent with the way he was treated at Hawthorn.
Greatest coach Port Melbourne football club has ever had and they let him go. Go figure ??
Ayresy keeps having SPATFAs
His voice keeps breaking

Crows were right ? The guy can talk .

great player but comes across as having a bit of a prickly personality..his time as coach at Geelong and the Crows seems to hilight this.
Darnum’s finest export ?
McLeod is a tool. He falls out with everyone and seems to be pretty passive aggressive.
Was a decent coach

Didn’t you write the same about Robert Walls?
@@jeremybean-hodges6397 No, that was Robert Walls disguised as Chris Judd pretending to be Stephen Kernahan.
