Thank you. I don’t get to let loose and really get after it casting very often. Most species you just don’t need it, or like with carp, you scare the crap out of them hammering it in like that. It’s fun to let it fly like that once in a while.

I love the paddleboard man. I fly fish off mine on the waterways in AZ. I’ve gotta get a trolling motor rigged up and chase the striper boils at the lakes here, you’ve got me inspired.

Awesome, glad to hear it. From what I understand there is some great Striper water pretty close to Phoenix, but I have only ever fished the canals. That was fun too though.

Awesome footage! I love lake Powell, trying to go every year at least once. Just subscribed:)

Thanks for the sub! And I agree. I am planning another short trip at the end of the summer. Hopefully I can find a few more boils to capture.

Had a ton of fun fishing boils at powell. mostly on conventional tackle but use the fly rod a few time. Have had several times the boil goes clear across the channel in the main lake.

I have only ever seen that once, and it was insane. Can I ask what time of year you saw that? The one time I saw was the end did July.

@@carponthefly8282 Think that was in september. we have seen it in July and august too. we fished above good hope bay most the time.

How does your payload like the Cortland line? Great video from an awesome place!

It’s pretty good. I like the RIO outbound short more. But it started cracking on me. I had ordered a replacement, but it didn’t make it before the trip. I use the Cortland more for carp. But it casts well enough.

Did you launch out of wahweap or bullfrog?

    What’s your fly line weigh?🤔

For this trip I was using an 8 weight. Just makes bombing the bigger flies easier. 7-9 is ideal:

Can you please address the extreme environmental damage done by Lake Powell? It’s not all fun and games down there

I understand what you are saying, but it’s not something I can solve. We would have been better off if we never built Glenn Canyon Dam or Hoover Dam, but we did. I don’t see any realistic chance they get removed. I kind of view it as a sunk cost now. So I try and focus on the positive. It is incredible down there. Such incredibly beauty, that I would probably not experience without the fishing or the lake. So I am appreciative for the incredible memories it has provided me and my family.

How difficult was it to get your drone permit to fly in Glenn Canyon? I want to get a drone to film some similar shots down there but the process of getting the permit dissuades me.
