  • Ingredients
    1 med Cassava
    2 small sweet potatoes
    3 small eddo
    3 small ripe plantains
    5 cloves garlic
    1 Tbsp chopped parsley
    1 celery stalk
    3 Wiri Wiri pepper
    2 scallion
    1/2 onion
    Few thyme
    1 Tsp all-purpose seasoning
    2 Maggie vegetable cubes
    1/2 Tsp black pepper
    1/2 Tsp onion powder
    1/2 Tsp garlic powder
    8-10 cups of coconut milk

    Good evening family, you have made a beautiful pot of methem. My favorite in the pot is eddoes. I have only had methem with fried fish or dried fish. Love the color in the plate.. little taste tester had such a good time doing the tasting, * Wow all of the Guyanaese foods/ dishes you made is so good * LOL.       Thanks love yes it’s quite popular in Guyana 🇬🇾 especially for lunch very filling and full of delicious flavors it’s like a soup but the broth is boiled down to be more thick

    Origin of Metemgee
    When the Africans were brought as slaves to Guyana, they added this tasteful dish to Guyana’s cuisine culture. The word Metemgee in the African Twi language is translated to “and plantains make it good” which they certainly do ! 🙌🏾🇬🇾
