Hi Paul, I'm Fabio from Italy. I completely agree with you. Most underrated band in the last 10 years at least. Great Britain has historically the most iconic beautiful unreachable bands of all time. No doubt about it. But I want to reassure you: I've seen them live in concerts two times, both in Milan. All sold out. They made two dates in Milan due of the increasing request of tickets. The first time was in 2018 and the last one was 11 February this year before lockdown began. They were absolutely awesome, brilliant. In one word: fantastic. I have no words to describe the beautiful, romantic, dark and at the same time vibrating feelings they created when playing their wonderful songs. They are so British, so cool, so beautifully melodic but at the same time so kind and never exhibitionistic. Always natural, their style always connected to the mood of their songs. I love their songwriting and they're my favourite band since 10 years. I everyday listen one of their albums. And always waiting for the new one in the near future. Maybe they have not reached the same success of bands like Coldplay or Oasis but maybe it is not all bad. Coldplay has reached an incredible success but they changed so much (in a worst way in my opinion) their sound in the last 10 years (Im one who loved their first albums, A Rush of Blood to the head, and Parachutes) that they're unrecognisable anymore. Editors in my opinion kept a more coherent and unique sound which maybe didn't give them the same success but they, for sure, earned the a solid and faithful base of fans who really appreciated it through all these years. Using the words of this song I would say that bands, who choses to renegade their inheritance sooner or later, will fall from grace. Said in other words: "All sparks will burn out in the end"🙂 Greetings from Tuscany ✋ P.s. I do really love all about Uk. From rock music to football,to pubs. I really jealous of traditions of your country
@@F16CBlock52 It is funny talking about "unique" sounds, when at start of their career everyone asked them about Joy Division and Interpol influences 😅 Anyway, I think we'll be at same concert in future (if we did not in past), I knew them since their first album through "Flux" on tv, and despite their involve I still let them carry my life, every years with something touching. Somebody say that 2000 music is horrible, well... Ps. Sorry for my bad English 🙏
@@LuckeyWlas yes you are right, they have reminescense of 80's sounds. Absolutely. New Wave influences like Joy Division and U2 for the first. But through all these years, they mixed these sounds with a modern one and created a unique mix between these reminescenses and their contemporary touch. I think they created a well balanced mix between electronic and more traditional melodies. I don't know where you come from but your English is quite good I think. I'm from Italy but I understood what you wrote. And you, where do you come from? Maybe in future we can meet at one of their concerts 🙂 it would be really funny! Bye Luckey!
Feels like we were the last generation that watched Mtv for music i remember as a teenager going back and forth through like 20 music channels for hours to find one song you like but when you did it was amazing
Unluckily they somehow got lost after their third album. The guitarist, which largely contributed to their sound, left and they tried to reinvent themselves but I honestly don't think it worked out. The reason is that they have never chosen a path to follow, a stable identity, but instead they have drastically changed their style at each single album, maybe trying to appeal to new audiences. The 4th album is terrible, their worst and something which should have never come out, they even try to copy Springsteen, Coldplay and Grunge acts like Cornell and Vedder. . In Violence they ruined some songs by overproducing them and inserting cheesy baroque arrangements a la muse . They had great potential but should have developed their electronic sound in a more creative/personal way taking inspiration from more reputable sources(industrial, prog, shoegaze). Anyway all the 2000s bands failed at some point after 1/ 2 album. They played revival, difficult to reinvent yourself if you are not a genius or something like that. Billy corgan tried the electronic way with adore and only half of the record is worth listening to, even if it is not a bad record, and I rate corgan far above of all the bands who came out in the 2000s.
This boys and girls is how you make a terrific indie/punk song. Excellent and clean dual guitars for melodic range with solid rhythm section, great vocals and unforgettable lyrics. Awesong song. Underappreciated song. 10 out of 10 stars gents
This band is the best medicine againgst all the darkness on this planet. SUPERB, AWESOME ,BRILLIANT. Every day i put vinyl on my recordplayer and listen to this outstanding band.
Wow! They look so young, as they were at that time. That tour was AMAZING! Saw them 2X. Kinda weird to see Mr. Smith playing a guitar in this. For a minute he would play 6 string and keyboard live. Then, it got to a point where he seemed to focus soully on vocals. I get it. Just kinda odd. I dig a singer that also plays, like SSPU(both vocalists), Stellastarr(back in the day), Interpol(well Paul B now plays bass), Doves (vocalists play bass, and guitar, and Jimi does it inverted on the bass). It seems to be a lost art anymore for vocalists to play.
Editors always have great ideas for their songs and videos. The lyrics are open to interpretation and the videos have fab artistic concept. ¡Viva Editors!
And it was right a spark that made this band join the music industry and entertain the fans! They generated a subgenre, something original and personal and a deep bond between the fans and the albums! Each track combines Smith's amazing voice, the electrifying guitar power and a phenomenal electronic layer underneath! the somber vibes arouse your sentiment, darkness attracts your eyes and it sticks to your soul! When a project begins during the thriving youth it's meant to earn over the years and this is sincerely the demonstration of what this energetic band is capable of putting out!
@@Boris_Din_Dietrich__Hazimyes but Tom Smith can hold a note & Ian Curtis couldn't. I like Joy Division and their music was incredible, but Ian covered up the flat bits with energy....

One of, if not our most, unappreciated and underrated bands 😳

I usually listen to this song on repeat, and I never get tired of it...it just keep getting better with every listen.
yeah right! Tom's voice and Ed's drumming skills are outstanding! One of the best live bands I ever had the pleasure to see!!! :D
Le voix du chanteur est juste magique... J'adore... No more comment...
The Editors are an unrivaled band in all the kingdoms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain .
13years ago?? Fuck where does time go??! Testament to an awesome band when their songs don't age❤️🙏
what if younger people see it as dated and the song HAS aged, but we are stuck in a time, so it feels timeless?.
I never ever get tired of this band. ❤️

One of the best bands to come around in a long time. It reminds me of good 80's shit.

Their lyrics are reminiscent of Romantic poets. Simplistic, but not at all simple.
