I have been battling this since buying the note 10. I consider myself a pretty tech savvy person. I kept going into each app and giving permissions, calling my carrier, going into the store for tech help e.t.c. and was getting VERY frustrated to the point of considering ditching the Note 10 (something I didn't want to do) because nothing worked!

Thank you! I was getting message notifications only sporadically on my new Samsung Galaxy A21. Some I got, some I did not. I have spent hours trying to resolve this issue, both with the carrier and with Samsung, as well as watching hours of You Tube videos. I finally happened upon your video and I turned off the Data Saver as you suggested. Now I no longer have the problem and receive all message notifications. You gave me my sanity back!

Thanks for the tip, I was having issues with g mail, fixed it now. I have got another issue, which I had on the note 9 too, when the phone is on silent for a long period, when I take it off silent mode, the notification sound stays on silent, and I have to go into the sound settings and turn it back up manually, ringtone volume is unaffected. Any ideas?

I had a specific issue where I was recieving no notifications from the messages app. And All the chats had a little do not disturb icon next to them. None of the items in the video will fix this.
What I think happened is that I long pressed on one conversation to select it/all and then pressed the "notifications" button which putt all of them into silent.
The way to undo this is long press again on the chats you want unblocked and then press "notifications" again so the bell on the side disappears.

@@gervasebarnes it you have a Samsung handset it's the new December update.. read on a form Samsung knows and will fix it soon. I dont know when
So I was having this same issue but none of these fixes worked. What did work, I had the clean master app that cleans junk off you phone. I blocked the notifications from that app and that's when I stopped getting notifications like from furbo and ring. So I uninstalled it and instantly started working. Not a phone issue but a stupid app!!
It is really helpful! I use the "Optimize battery usage" and select "all" , then I find my gmail has been "Optimized" . When turned off, it will show the notifications. Thank you for this video.

Great video! Do you think this will work on a Note9? Especially when I get a txt the AOD shows a bubble that says "Hidden Content."
You can go to "notification settings", select that app go into its lockscreen notification options and turn your content to show when phone is locked.
Simply search 'display content' or 'hide content' & see what results come up in settings search bar.

Very helpful video jimmy.... like u I'm also using wallpix for wallpapers..some wallpapers doesn't align exactly at the hole punch as they are supposed to because of the motion effect..... how to turn that on/off ...i set the wallpapers directly from the app...

Uses this and it helped with some apps but like facebook still don't receive notifications.

this is been so useful! great explanation. I notice there's an option (might not have been there 2 years ago when you did this vid) called "auto disable unused apps"....it doesn't give a timescale though, unlike the auto sleep app. It is under the same menu - optimize batter ; settings. Do you have a recomendation for that?

Wow, this video exposed areas of my phone (Note 8) that I didn't realize existed. Thank you! One question though, is Gmail enablements required for Calendar notifications? They're separate apps so my inclination is that it shouldn't be. Despite Calendar events being sent to my Gmail account I'm not getting the notifications on my lock screen like I used to.
How about getting notifications from my own texts I send? This seems like an Android Pi problem because it began to give me notifications of my sent texts on my Note 8 when i updated it. Is it possible to get rid of these notifications? I'm really tired of getting notified after I send a text.. I obviously know I sent a text
How do you turn on read receipts some times they work with some of my samsung people others they don't. Even with the settings on? Is this fixable ?

Good video. What about when you have bluetooth headphones hooked up....but maybe hanging around your neck (not in your ears) and your reminder notifications are playing thru them, not on the phone speaker? Used to be an option to play thru the phone speaker not thru bluetooth....any insights for the note 10?
also check to see what power mode you have the phone in, i had it in medium power saving mode and i was having this problem, i changed it to optimized and stuff started coming through..

Great Video! Hopefully you can solve another problem with my Note 10+. when I pull down to check notifications I will swipe to delete a Facebook notification and within seconds the same notification shows up again. I believe this is caused by using the Facebook app and in certain apps it opens Facebook on a web page. How do I get my phone to only open Facebook with the app? Still not getting notifications. When I turn the phone on, I see my notifications. But my phone is not turning on to alert me. I have the Edge Lighting Punch hole turned on. When the phone is on, works great. When the phone is off, nothing.
Same issue. Even tried screen flash notifications, did not work. Bummer!
Your auto sync is probably turned off. In the Gmail app go to the three lines on the left top corner and scroll all the way down to settings then select (if you have more than one account then do this with both) your e-mail address and scroll down to find Inbox Notifications and in that setting makes sure auto sync is turned ON otherwise your inbox won't sync your messages to you. Hope this helps :)

How can you get all my notifications grouped into one category? Cause I always have like 5 TH-cam notf and I want it to be all those 5 notf grouped into one "TH-cam" notifications. It looks cleaner that way

No one has mentioned this one, but worked for me on my Note 20. If you have "developer mode" on, turn it off, as soon as I did i started getting notifications from apps again

Hi jimmy I have turned off all notifications and still receive a sound that a notification has announced itself. I have looked at all apps and cant find the one that notified me. This is a problem because I want notifications from SMS, RING, Calendar, Parking app, and so on. just the selected ones. Hope you have some advise

Great video. Thank you for posting. I had high hopes it would fix the issue my wife and I have, but sadly it did not. We have samsung phones. An S10 and Note 10+. For both of us, fairly recently the ability to turn on notifications for the app Duo is grayed out. More accurately, the "show notifications, receive 1:1 calls, and receive group calls are grayed out. Every other one, including missed calls is on.
I went through the steps above, but unfortunately, it didn't work. Since this is a inability to set issue rather than sleep, I wasn't surprised, but I still tried.
Do you, or anyone else reading this, have any idea how to get notifications to work on a Samsung phone (s10 or note 10+) for Duo? The app developer email from Google Play goes to a defunct mail box. Perhaps they've given up?!?!?!?

I had this problem with yahoo email. I tried your steps and they didn't work. I unistalled it and put it back on. Works perfect. BTW my g mail is highlighted in battery optimization and still works. I left it alone. Thanks for video
I just watched the video and followed the steps. Everything was good. What's happening is the only notification I get is from the galaxy store. When I get a text it wont sound or pop up. When I send myself a text from my work phone I notice that the number indicater will basically flash on the text icon and go away and there will be no sound at all. Any suggestions? Could there be a app that's putting everything to sleep?

I prefer to use google messages instead of the Samsung messages (S10 Plus.) I've tested using samsung messages and when I get a message, I do receive pop up notifications on top of my screen when my phone is not in use. However, when I use google messages, I receive no pop up notification while the phone is not in use, but when it is in use, I do get the pop up notifications on top of my screen. How can I get pop up notifications while my phone is not in use for google messages?

I have a S9 and I did the android update yesterday and I noticed that it removed the option to prioritize whatsapp messages for instance no long having the option to make a chat pop up at all times in the center of my phone whether it's in lockscreen mode or unlocked with the name of the person in the chat. It's grayed out saying that this option is no longer available to this android version and Samsung refusing to take accountability that this was affected due to their new software update. I did what they said and it was useless. Your help would be very much appreciated as I need this option back
What worked for me is reset settings from general management. This fix is from Samsung care in my area. Try it

Hello. I have the Samsung s9 plus. I had done i update and I'm still a few more updates to catch up with . But I don't like doing them due to losing features. So now after I turn off my phone the lock screen notification feature gets turned off everytime.. I have to manually turn it back on every time I turn on my phone is there a fix for this . I, too, have been having issues with Gmail notifications not coming through. However when I tried to search for Optimized Battery usage, nothing comes up. Is that something that some carriers could have turned off? I'm on and Sprint and I know with my Note 8, I couldn't access the Home Screen Settings. It was there, but greyed out because Sprint had disabled that function from their Note 8 devices. :(

Obvious settings, duh. The problem is the doze mode which Google added a few years ago, but starting with Android 8 you can't really do anything about it. Wi-Fi and mobile data will be terminated when the screen is off after some time to conserve the battery, whether you want it, or not. That's why notifications arrive with a delay, or might not work at all for some apps
