Yemen always had its place in the heart of Tunisians. We think of Yemen as our ancestral land and that was the case even before Islam. It's the birthplace of Amazigh nation before they got mixed with south Europeans. Our old script resembles the Misnad script too. Yemen is destined to greatness sooner or late it will prosper and flourish again. Felix Arabia the Greeks called it, and when she's happy, we all are!
So does Tunis love from Sanaa

I am from Yemen and I will tell you something that does not appear in the media. The cause of the destruction of Yemen is the Saudi government, with the support of America. When it allied with some countries, including the UAE, in 2015, they declared war on Yemen under the pretext of eliminating the Houthis. The Houthi group was very small at that time, but Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries were bombing Yemen brutally and mercilessly, killing civilians, besieging Yemen for 8 years, and causing the death of tens of thousands of children and civilians. They were bombing wedding halls, funeral halls and everything. They were no different from Israel. Which caused the anger of the Yemeni people, and we all supported Al-Houthi until he became strong. Saudi Arabia failed in the war and Its goal in the war was to obtain Yemeni oil, and the UAE is now seizing Socotra Island.
I wrote a comment, siting all the countries bombing Yemen and it got deleted! 350 000 dead, 2,2 million children starving

29:43 Ofra Haza's parents came from yemen to Israel and she herself, although proud of her haritage, was born and lived in Israel, and she sang in modern hebrew, yemenite hebrew and english. she is very loved here in Israel and considered one of our greatest and iconic singers.
And her name has sadly been butchered in this episode.
Also, while Operation Magic Carpet brought a lot of Yemenite Jews to Israel, many came before that, in "A'ale bTamar" of 1882, due to a "premonition" of Rabbi Shalom Shabazi, some of them founded the neighborhoods of Shabazi and HaKerem (Hebrew for "The Yemenites' Vineyard") the very first neighborhoods of Telaviv, years before Dizengoff and the 1905 land purchase...
She is very lucky. Because the Zionists did not kidnap her from her parents "when she was a baby" and inform them that she was dead. This also happened to many Yemeni Jews.😊
All yemeni love there artist even the jew like Ofra Haza , Zion Golan and the youth like @Omri_Cohen

Something Barbs forgot to mention is that some of our ancestors are from Yemen. Before 1000BC some non arab semitic people migrated to the northern part of the horn and intermixed with the local cushites to create the habesha people of Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Both sides of the red sea had a similar culture for a long time. The western side of Yemen was part of Ethiopia (axum empire).
I remember an old joke about Yemen. The name Yemen can be mistranslated to Yeman(who's) in amharic and someone will say ye-gn-a(our's) since we controlled it for some time.
do you mean yemenite jews when you say non arab?
As a Yemeni, this is a sad part of our history, that even habesha is joking about us
@@Proud_Hadrami
Life change and even controlling.
For example in Sheba and Himyarite civilizations we conquered most part of Africa and Habesha for certain and we transfer our language and letters and a huge amount of our culture for them and in desperate moment of them they thought it was theirs , then later after thousands years they have the control for little time Sanna and some valleies around it then we kicked them out , it's life and as the singer said: first day is for you and second day against you 😂، حضرمي مثلك الا اني مذحجي الأصل
Habasht is an Arab Himyarite Sabaean tribe that migrated from Yemen in the fifth century BC. It is the founder of the Kingdom of Axum. There are no foreign ethnicities in Yemen at all. This is why Yemen was called the origin of the Arabs because all the tribes belong to two main tribes, the Himyar and Kahlan, who are sons of Sheba and whose lineage ends with the Prophet Hud, peace be upon him then to Noah's son Shem. bro you can deceive an Arab about many things, except with history and genealogy, you have to be careful, because every Arab person you meet in the street can tell you the lineage of his ancestors going back to the great father Noah, which is part of Arab culture and a source of pride for them because their lineages are not mixed 😅, and if you don't believe in history perhaps you believe in science, you can do some DNA test for you and some relative then you see where it ends with you
@@fawazmoh6652 والنعم بك يا اخوي المذحجي وفعلا كلامك صحيح
My dad was born in Shibam, however I’ve never been able to go there because of the war (I’ve lived in dubai my whole life). Yemeni culture is so beautiful and rich and you perfectly encapsulated that in this video. I’ve been watching since the Bahrain episode so I had some high expectations for the Yemen video (been a long wait lol) and you did not disappoint with this one. As for anyone reading this comment, I definitely recommend listening to Abu Bakr Salem’s music, it’s some of the best in my non-biased opinion (totally not because he’s a relative of mine). Anyway, well done Barbs, you killed it.
Also side note: there’s a running joke between the Arab countries about how the only thing Yemenis have to their names after the war is being the origin of Arabs. If you ever meet a Yemeni they will for sure let you know about this fact, because it’s something we pride ourselves with.
Oh man, I really hope you get the chance to go see the motherland at some point, I’ve never been there and even I’m super fascinated with it, I can’t imagine how you must feel

I didn't know that Yemen and Ethiopia are these much connected and intertwined in their culture
If anything Barbs undersold it. They were basically one political unit for all of history until the Arab conquest.
He definitely did, he talked about it more in the ethiopia and Eritrea segment but basically there was a mass migration and cultural shift from Yemen to east Africa. While the horn impacted Yemen, there wasn’t as much of a genetic flow from the horn to Yemen. Most of the Afro-arabs he mentions are in fact not immigrants, but the descendants of people enslaved from south east Africa (what is now Kenya, Tanzania, etc).
