the stealth duck it's not a bad option. But in terms of home defense, I'd rather have more lead going down range than less. Especially considering 00 buck is most likely the best for that situation, which to my knowledge is only in 12 gauge.
Ahhh i want to move to America so badly. The UK gun legislation sucks nuts. I was recently burgled and had to cower upstairs defencelessly as i don't have any sort of weapons to defend myself with. The only problem is, the places in the US i want to move to have relatively strict gun laws compared tot he rest of the US- West Coast, New York, Chicago.
+BeanyOwns So, get yourself a license and a shotgun? Easy to get, and much better for home defence anyway. And as for you being defenseless without a firearm...that is on no-one but you. You don't need a gun to defend yourself.
+BeanyOwns It is quite easy to get hunting rifles and shotguns in California. As for handguns, it take several months and background check. For "assault rifle" (somehow include semi-auto AR-15 and other similar guns), it is now impossible to acquire one unless a resident who have one before the 90s decided to pass it on to you (well last time I checked) or you work for the Federal government as an agent. The hard part is being able to legally carry your weapon outside of your property (home/businesses). Used to be that you can keep a handgun in your car as long as the gun was not loaded and ammo is in different part of your car, but recently they outlawed that method and only allow it when the owner intends to transport the gun. Meanwhile, the processes to get the licenses are heavily regulated and pretty restricted, thus most of those who have one are usually law enforcement officers.
About 15 years ago my buddy and I were at a gun show and there were racks and racks of mosins for $50 each. We had just seen "Enemy at the Gates" and new it was an old, but quality, rifle. With little thought we each picked one up. I have since customized it with an archangel stock, scope, bipod and compensator. It's a great rifle and makes me wish I had bought 10 of them at $50. Can't find those old Mosins for that any more.
I bought a glock 19 gen 5 last year as my first gun and fired it a few times. My grandfather recently passed and left me a 1911 45 and a 41 magnum. I have found that glocks require more expertise and more awareness of trigger pressure/aim adjustment to be accurate. I fired the 1911 for the first time and my grouping was astoundingly better than when I used the glock. It seems the trigger design(for me) is much more comfortable and requires less…adjustment for lack of a better term to be accurate. Of course everyone is different but I will only be buying 1911 pistols. It could also have to do with the fact that my 1911 is all steel and the glock is half composite thus making it lighter as well.
These are the main reasons why I think most Americans own firearms and why many rush out to acquire them legally. 1.in case we have to overthrow our growing tyrannical government. 2.protection against those tryng to hurt me and those around me 3.sporting and hunting purposes
Sir the Glock 19 is a great modern pistol but I personally think everyone American should own a Colt 1911 it’s an American classic and shoots 45 acp. It hits hard🇺🇸🤠💪
Those are great guns however, for home protection especially for a female who's not an experienced shooter i would recommend a 38 6 shot revolver. Very low maintenance, easy to shot and worry free far as jam ups like with semi autos. The second gun would be a 870 Remington 12 gage magnum. More practice with shooting and operating this weapon.

Man these guns are sick. Why can't we have them???? I don't even think we have shooting ranges, let alone owning one. This goes on my bucket list, going to the US and shooting some freedom.
So, that's impressively fail. 1, there's no such thing as a .45 Desert Eagle. The Desert Eagle has only ever been in .357 Mag, .41 Mag, .44 Mag, .440 Cor-Bonn and .50 AE. 2, firing a .308 out of a "mini pistol" means you get one round off. Then your wrist is broken, and you won't be shooting again.
One of my favorite videos ever put out by this channel. I come back and re-watch it at least once a year. Just as relevant and accurate today (2020) as it was 8 years ago...
darkfall13 "...including AR15s so you're off base because criminals aren't running around with rifles." And recently all your rifles as defence are useless, as the criminals have steel plates arranged at an ancle of 30°, so your bullets just slip off. You would need cannonry or hollow charges. And will you also sell that to children starting from the age of 10? And what will they do with it in school?
***** "but it is only one in ""the West"" in witch backgroud checks are needed only for Assault rifles (witch nobudy smart would not sell to civilians in almost any situation anyway) and not for things like handguns and shotguns" clearly you're an idiot, the US requires background checks on rifles, shotguns, & handguns.
***** "shoot metal balls.." Lol! Really? What year is this? 1862? You forget to mention that in the European Union, while gun violence may be lower, knife violence is extremely higher! In Mexico, where guns are almost impossible to get, they have a higher gun violence than we do! Our in the USA we have never had a foreign Army try to invade us on our soil since 1812 (where we drove the English away)... perhaps is because our citizens are ready to fight!
I just recently bought both a AR 15 and a AK47 and love them both for their own characteristics. The AR is a ruger 5.56 mpr and the ak is a c39v2 which i guess has questionable stuff, but i am happy thus far.
GeekBoy03 You're saying a gun that has been used since 1947 in every war fought "sucks" because the ammo is no good? The ammo is as good as the loader. This ammo is armor piercing out of the box and can punch through 1/4" steel plate at 600 yards. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. 5.56mm in comparison is total garbage but I guess you like the rifle and the way it looks. And you're on TH-cam recommending ANYTHING? Wow...
They said at the beginning that they did guns that were with in the generally public's price range, good Ak's are not within everyones price range, also tactically the AR will beat the ak, especially in an urban environment.
Shawn Knox Simply not true. The AK-47 is tried and true and is excellent for urban or desert warfare etc etc. AK-47's cost exactly or less than AR-15's. Again, these guys are clueless, they are making recommendations based on what they sell most likely, not on hard facts of they'd have included this time tested weapon. There's a reason the entire world's army uses this weapon and it's not because it's more expensive.
The reason is because the chinese manufactured the shit out of it and that russian mafia runs russia basically and can sell it all over the world, the gun that beats the ak is the hk416 and 417, it beats it in range and in toughness.
2020 here. you can still get all these in California. You just have to have a maglock in the AR-15 which only slows down reload by about .85 of a second.
My Grandfather fought in WW1, He died in 1977. I graduated from High School in 1977. This guy probably has more war experience than R. Hasan has had in his dreams!!!!
+lostinYourReality I don't want the gov to give up theirs, but I wouldn't want the people to give up theirs either. We still need border guards, soldiers, police and so on, but imho they should be taught to (actually) respect the rights of the people, they serve, and (actually) uphold these, first and foremost. We are their employers after all. Noone else in life ever bosses their work boss around.
Great list, although I’d recommend a getting a pistol caliber carbine chambered in the same round as your side arm. Personally think that would be better than the 10/22. Just an opinion
From NYC I got the mossberg 500 which covers lots of bases. So got a Moisin 1928 numbers matching Dragon . Love this gun therefore I feel safe plus other rifles winchester 30 30 and 270 weatherby for hunting .Great video thanks for sharing
Nope. You can get good ones but they are rare. I love old battle rifles and my old Lee Enfeild no4 mk1 is probably my all time favourite but not mosins they are generally junk.
I've got several. I couldn't resist at $60 (+ $180/880 rds spam cans). But my favorite is a mosin variant, the Finnish M39. All shoot well. One (a Tula) came out of the crate with super nice bluing, a very shiny bore and better than average stock.
The ignorance in the comments on this video is hilarious. You don't NEED 5 guns but they all serve a purpose. If I could only have 1 gun it would be a 12 gauge. They're generally very reliable, relatively cheap, and you have a lot of versatility and firepower for the money. You can kill anything from birds to bears up to at least 100 yards away, and much further if you know what you're doing. Not only that but they are just phenomenal at CQB. Like I said though, they all have a purpose. The Mosin/bolt action is for long range, the AR is for general battle and excellent for close to mid range, the pistol is a lot of fun and a great backup and CQB gun, and the 10/22 is great for plinking, cheap(ha, not anymore) practice, and small game hunting. It can also be used against bad guys with pretty good results, but it wouldn't be my first choice for that. All you European haters just don't understand. Guns to us is like tea to you. Imagine if someone killed people with tea somehow and then they wanted to ban it. We gained our independence from your tea drinking bullshit by using guerrilla warfare and guns. They can't take our guns away when we wouldn't even be here in the first place if it wasn't for them. Violence has been, and always will be a part of societies. You could give a determined person a bic pen and they could start killing people. It's not fair to take away bic pens from everyone else just because there's a few wackos out there stabbing people in the jugular with them.
The ignorance of THIS comment is too damn high! People world wide drink tea. I don't think guns should be banned, it would just be nice, if there were more ristriction. I mean, you can buy a shotgun almost everywhere in the US. Yes, some people know how to handle guns, and some don't. If you would have to take some test or course, to make sure you know how to handle a gun. Wouldn't that be better? Saying violence has been a part of society and always will, is kinda ignorant. Yes, it's been part of society and still is. But just because it once was like something doesn't mean it always will or should. Do you still believe people should be hanged for stealing, or burned alive for being a "witch"? Because that sure did happen not too many centuries ago!
ExgaGaming The ignorance is coming from people like you that think the world can just be changed. It's been that way since the beginning of time. Long before you, your family, countries, and even people were around there were dinosaurs kicking the shit out of each other. Guns are just tools that psychos use to exponentially increase the effectiveness of their violence. I agree that guns SHOULD HAVE BEEN more regulated from the get go, but at this point it would be stupid, aggravating, and a waste of money and resources to try to put laws like that into effect. Do you know how many guns are sold every week, day, even hour? If every person buying a gun had to take a test it would be insane. Not only that but if you make it harder for law abiding citizens to buy guns, you're just making it easier on the criminals to commit crimes with the guns they get on the street in 10 seconds. Look into all of the recent shootings in the U.S. Almost all of them have happened in "gun free zones" because they knew damn well that nobody would be able to fight back. Imagine the entire country being a gun free zone and having criminals running around with nobody to stop them.
ExgaGaming I know what you mean, and I would love to be there and not here, but I would bet that you guys have just as many crimes as we do, whether it's with guns or not. I read an article where a few people were killed in England by a wacko with a machete. I've seen all sorts of murders in the news over there with edged weapons. I don't know about you, but personally, I would rather get shot then hacked at with a machete. At least you die instantly if you're shot by someone with skill and there's no suffering. I couldn't imagine a much worse way to do then getting chopped with an axe, machete, etc. Another thing is that yeah, a lot of people have a lot of guns here, but I also have guns. Fight fire with fire. That actually deters a lot of criminals. If you break into a house and the worst thing that can happen is getting your ass kicked, that's not nearly as bad as having a 250lb farmer with a shotgun coming at you. It makes a lot of people think twice. I'm a nerdy white guy, and a lot of people probably think I'm an easy target. If someone ever tries something though, they'll have a very bad day because I'll have my Glock in their face so fast they wouldn't even know what happened. Guns are a savior for 130lb dudes like me. You could have someone that's been working out for years and a 10th degree black belt in 5 different martial arts and 1 shot to the head and that's all irrelevant.
Americas crimerates are higher: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate And here are the countries with the lowest crimerates: www.elist10.com/top-10-countries-lowest-recorded-crime-rate/ Most people don't just move on after they've just killed someone. That's why so many soldiers get "post traumatic stress disorder" or PTSD for short.
***** If you call someone a pussy because they feel bad for killing someone. Then I might want to see a psychiatrist if I was you. I doubt you have ever shot someone? It takes more guts than you would ever admit to.
I live and hunt interior Alaska. My 5 guns: 3 bolt action rifles in .22, .270, 300 H &H. I reload the .270 with 130 TTSX for sheep, caribou, black bear. I reload the 300 H &H with 180gr TTSX or 220 nozler partition for moose/grizzlies. My other 2 guns are shotguns a 20 gauge Browning Citori for upland birds and a Remington 870 for waterfowl.
in the uk our gun laws are STRICT.Some wako would go buy a gun and start blazing. There are some stupid people in the uk.If we were sensible(like most americans)our gun laws would be different
You know, we Americans get a lot of people screaming the opposite at us...people from the UK will often insult our crazy gun hoarders like these 2, and they brag about low gun killings in the UK are. They don't mention knife or acid attacks, though.
In this wise man's category options, here's my personal take on it: 1) centerfire handgun: Bersa Thunder 380 2) .22 rimfire rifle: Henry .22 Frontier 3) shotgun: Mossberg Maverick 88 4) adaptable combat rifle: Ruger AR-556 And that bonus milsurp at the end, I do have a Century Arms M91/30 Mosin-Nagant, Ex-Dragoon, too. It matches the suggested choice, even though they don't sell that cheaply anymore. 👍🏻 Now many others will disagree and that's their opinions, which is fine. It's why we live in the United States of America, where depending on your State, there may be a variety of choices. Everyone has their personal preferences.
I agree but the reason they put the AR15 as the last one is because people that are new to the platform and don't really know where to look are going to think that they are very expensive. Most people that are completly new to firearms and if they are on a budget are not going to chunk down $600 - $1000 on an AR15 as their first gun when a budget glock in 9mm is only like $400 something.
The best combat weapon is a logical thinking mind. If you want to talk firearms, my dad survived three tours of combat duty in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. He had a 308 bolt action and a 45 acp. Didn’t have an m4. Most of the guys toting an a1 went home in body bags. My dad stayed 600 plus yards away from front line combat. He came home alive. If m1a was an accurate platform I’d buy one myself. One well placed shot is worth more than 30 that didn’t make it to the target.
this should be what every free person in the world should own, it doesnt matter what color you are, what god you pray to or what arbitrary lines in the dirt you live in. Man is free when he chooses to be, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE STATE TELLS YOU
"You can kill anything from a ground squirrel to a moose with this." Sure. Technically, you could kill a TANK with it, too. But if you EXPECT to do so, you'll be woefully disappointed. To quote, "You walk in the forest in the night, and all of a sudden, the STARS disappear? That's a moose. You will not win that confrontation, so better run." There is no situation in the world that you can EXPECT to kill a moose with a .22, except if it's caught and tied down. Maybe. And then the M4 variant. Sure. Because I want a rifle in 5.56. After all, throwing rocks is tiring.
Stephany Brigs From about 2 inches distance, as anything further away than that wouldn't pinch through the skull in the first place, and possibly not even then, as a mooses skull is a LOT tougher and thicker than a humans. Good luck getting within 2 inches of a pissed-off moose.

+BeanyOwns Why didn't you register for the weapon license...
Move to glories it's a beautiful state and has loose gun control.
+BeanyOwns Haha this comment is fucked up on so many levels :D
As a person new to firearms, I want to say thank you for making this video.
My dad always told me better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. He was not referring to guns, but I choose to think he did.
soooooo where can I get that crate of mosins for 2000?
Sadly, those days are loooong gone lol
Lol I’m trying to figure that out now
The right to own guns: the essence of a democracy and of the citizen´s ability to defend themselves and their political system. NO gun control!
The guns that an american should own
All of them. :D
Toast Busters Dam right.....
Idk why people who aren't American, or can't obtain guns come here to troll and say stupid shit..
RIP Barry
Give me an AK-47, and a Mosin, and I'm happy
The Paragon Effect communist 😂
Luke Metallic Mad?
AKs are better than ARs in my opinion and AKs I believe are the most modular rifles to use
The Paragon Effect Good choices, you forgot a Glock 9mm and a 12 gage shotgun. Russian guns are cheap and effective!
It started as a: "You need this to protect yourself and do some hunting on the side."
And ended on: "You wanna arm a militia?"
We are the militia 🇺🇸
Rest in Peace Barry..
it's still sad
Nice presentation, Barry. But I will keep to my old phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
2.protection against those tryng to hurt me and those around me
3.sporting and hunting purposes
#1 needs to happen
yeah that pretty much sums it up
+why712 I agree with you
why712-asmr darlings personal account and replace it with what?
Calismoke831
I agree with what you are saying never know what is about to happen
Sir the Glock 19 is a great modern pistol but I personally think everyone American should own a Colt 1911 it’s an American classic and shoots 45 acp. It hits hard🇺🇸🤠💪
I got both just in case.
This excellent video became my bible for my first purchases 6 years ago. RIP Barry.
1-5:
Walther PPQ
Ruger 10/22 with Vortex scope / bull barrel
Mossberg 590
PSA AR-15
Browning AB-3 30.06 with Vortex Viper
6-10:
Sig P365
Springfield M1A
Winchester Wildcat 22LR
Glock 19X
Henry All-Weather 45/70 Scout
Man these guns are sick. Why can't we have them???? I don't even think we have shooting ranges, let alone owning one. This goes on my bucket list, going to the US and shooting some freedom.
30-06? at least in Texas every " law abiding" house hold has at least one. just saying
What guns shoot those rounds?
@@datboi9539 i have a remington 700 in 30.06 but also off the top of my head m1 garand shoots 30.06 alot of bolt actions etc.
@@datboi9539 check Winchester XPR they're going for $450 from budsgunshop dot com
yes, everyone needs a Glock with 30 rounds. This...this is paramount.
Their choices are:
1. Glock 9mm pistol w/33 rd magazine.
2. Ruger 10-22 w/VX-25 magazine
3. Mossberg 12 ga. pump shotgun (18-1/2" home defense barrel, and 26" hunting barrel w/vent rib)
4. Bushmaster XM-15-E2S ("S" not "5") 5.56 cal. in M4 configuration.
5. Mosin Nagant. 7.62x54
But my suggestions (& preferences) are:
1. .45 cal. Desert Eagle pistol
2. .308 cal. mini pistol for conceal carry
3. Ruger .357 magnum revolver
4. Mossberg 12 ga. pump shotgun
5. Benjamin BPBD3S Bulldog .357 cal. Pre-Charged Pneumatic (PCP) pellet Hunting Rifle
6. Mosin Nagant
If this video doesn’t describe Murica I don’t know what does.
Here’s my list:
A shotgun
A rifle
Any type of pistol
A plinkster
And a carbine
Yup pretty much my list as well.
We miss seeing this guy. Imagine him on gun gripes. It'd be great
One of my favorite videos ever put out by this channel. I come back and re-watch it at least once a year. Just as relevant and accurate today (2020) as it was 8 years ago...
guns are awesome. especially if they are used for fun shooting or defending your home.
for all the liberals, HOW DID WE WIN OUR INDEPENDENCE!?!
With Help from the French??
Ill give you a hint...it damn sure wasn't with gun free zone signs, and safe spaces.
Grandpow ... illegal rebellion?
The same way that we’ll keep our independence.
The Boston tea party was a riot .....
I wish I would live in the USA...
darkfall13
"...including AR15s so you're off base because criminals aren't running around with rifles."
And recently all your rifles as defence are useless, as the criminals have steel plates arranged at an ancle of 30°, so your bullets just slip off. You would need cannonry or hollow charges. And will you also sell that to children starting from the age of 10? And what will they do with it in school?
*****
"but it is only one in ""the West"" in witch backgroud checks are needed only for Assault rifles (witch nobudy smart would not sell to civilians in almost any situation anyway) and not for things like handguns and shotguns"
clearly you're an idiot, the US requires background checks on rifles, shotguns, & handguns.
darkfall13 And in the UK alone, there is more violent crimes committed with knives and bats, than in the US has with guns.
*****
"shoot metal balls.." Lol!
Wow, seeing all that ammo in the background is just heart-wrenching, compared to what the shelves look like now!
Scroll down to the comments to see people argue about gun control
I hate the concept of gun control and I hate every single gun control advocate
I just recently bought both a AR 15 and a AK47 and love them both for their own characteristics.
The AR is a ruger 5.56 mpr and the ak is a c39v2 which i guess has questionable stuff, but i am happy thus far.
I was thinking about getting that Ruger for myself since ‘ol sleepy joe will try to take them away if he wins in November. How is it so far?
@@motorbreath-4172 It is amazing man!!! I have a FB page that I upload some of my videos to, but it would have to be private if there is a way.
And you're going to shoot up a school?
R.I.P barry...
Yeah I always take my 22lr for hunting moose. RIP Barry, you are missed.
Glock 19, SKS, Remington 870 express magnum, and maybe a 1911 for good measure.
Come on man! Where is the AK-47? Forget a 5.56 if you can use a 7.62. Nothing beats a 7.62 AK-47 period. Tried and true and naturally armor piercing.
The riffle may be good, but the ammo sucks.
The reason is because the chinese manufactured the shit out of it and that russian mafia runs russia basically and can sell it all over the world, the gun that beats the ak is the hk416 and 417, it beats it in range and in toughness.
good luck getting any in california.
Randy Eldridge all of those guns can be had in California except for the AR
Bought my glock and my ar10 in california.
@@basedcase I can move from Texas to Cali and bring any firearm I purchased beforehand
Jeremy Rushton but neutered
2020 here. you can still get all these in California. You just have to have a maglock in the AR-15 which only slows down reload by about .85 of a second.
The idea of having a crate of old army issue bolt actions with a crate of ammo is a great idea
Oh Barry. You are missed. RIP buddy

I miss Barry. I miss the early days of this channel. I guess it's just nostalgia from when I first got into guns but it's not the same.
I will gladly give up my guns once the government gives up theirs.
You got to include a .357 Magnum! That has MURICAN written all over it!

Ethan L. Well, the .44 mag is much more MURICA!, in my opinion. Dirty Harry and all that, you know.

I own one too, they are amazing rifles and the ammunition is very easy to find, it's a cheap way to arm yourself and go out to the range good luck :)
Why do people need an assault rifle?? Would a side arm not be just as good for protection?
no handgun is less powerful and way less accurate

Gotta love the mosin
Gerald Clemens I want one so bad
ExgaGaming
The ignorance is coming from people like you that think the world can just be changed.
ExgaGaming
I know what you mean, and I would love to be there and not here, but I would bet that you guys have just as many crimes as we do, whether it's with guns or not.

Fierce Mouse bruh, what were you shooting? A whale? /s
in the uk our gun laws are STRICT.Some wako would go buy a gun and start blazing. There are some stupid people in the uk.If we were sensible(like most americans)our gun laws would be different
the most dangerous weapon in the uk is a foam sword
You know, we Americans get a lot of people screaming the opposite at us...people from the UK will often insult our crazy gun hoarders like these 2, and they brag about low gun killings in the UK are. They don't mention knife or acid attacks, though.
In this wise man's category options, here's my personal take on it:
1) centerfire handgun: Bersa Thunder 380
2) .22 rimfire rifle: Henry .22 Frontier
3) shotgun: Mossberg Maverick 88
4) adaptable combat rifle: Ruger AR-556
And that bonus milsurp at the end, I do have a Century Arms M91/30 Mosin-Nagant, Ex-Dragoon, too. It matches the suggested choice, even though they don't sell that cheaply anymore. 👍🏻
Now many others will disagree and that's their opinions, which is fine. It's why we live in the United States of America, where depending on your State, there may be a variety of choices. Everyone has their personal preferences.
Sad day.

I completely disagree because the first gun you should own is an AR15.
1: AR15
2: Glock 19
3: Mossberge 500/Rem 870
4: Rem 700
5:Ruger 10/22
I agree but the reason they put the AR15 as the last one is because people that are new to the platform and don't really know where to look are going to think that they are very expensive. Most people that are completly new to firearms and if they are on a budget are not going to chunk down $600 - $1000 on an AR15 as their first gun when a budget glock in 9mm is only like $400 something.
I completely agree exept you need a glock 21 u gott get the .45!! I like your list though
Nah long guns are fun and useful, but handguns take the cake. Always on you, always ready, and concealable in disaster times evacuation etc.
Where is the good ol lever action or revolver???

The best combat weapon is a logical thinking mind. If you want to talk firearms, my dad survived three tours of combat duty in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. He had a 308 bolt action and a 45 acp. Didn’t have an m4. Most of the guys toting an a1 went home in body bags. My dad stayed 600 plus yards away from front line combat. He came home alive. If m1a was an accurate platform I’d buy one myself. One well placed shot is worth more than 30 that didn’t make it to the target.

"You can kill anything from a ground squirrel to a moose with this."
Sure. Technically, you could kill a TANK with it, too. But if you EXPECT to do so, you'll be woefully disappointed. To quote, "You walk in the forest in the night, and all of a sudden, the STARS disappear? That's a moose. You will not win that confrontation, so better run."
There is no situation in the world that you can EXPECT to kill a moose with a .22, except if it's caught and tied down. Maybe.
And then the M4 variant. Sure. Because I want a rifle in 5.56. After all, throwing rocks is tiring.
***** Shoot a moose in the head and that .22 round will bounce around inside his skull
Stephany Brigs From about 2 inches distance, as anything further away than that wouldn't pinch through the skull in the first place, and possibly not even then, as a mooses skull is a LOT tougher and thicker than a humans. Good luck getting within 2 inches of a pissed-off moose.
***** Well I never said it was gonna be easy

All you will have to do is shoot the moose in the eye so I hope you are a damn good shot with that .22.
