It's great to see you do a collab with Mariam. I'm a fan of both of you! Hearing your take on baked gelee eyeshadows and all their nuances was so interesting. Seeing the variety of brands and different types was great - it was so effective in demonstrating your points.
I absolutely love that you and Mariam are collaborating! I found your channel when she mentioned you and your channel years ago! This was an awesome video!! I feel like I learned so much! I’m 56 and I find baked gelee formulas emphasize texture so much less than regular powder formulas. I think it’s what keeps me searching for these baked formulas! They are just so flattering! I have one Sisley single in the sparkle finish, but I’d really like to try the matte and the silky formulas, too. I need to watch your video swatching all of them again!
Off topic but Chinese pressed powders are also amazing. I have been loving the blurring effects and how very light weight they are compared to even my Givenchy loose powder and Pat McGrath pressed powder.
41:05 fascinating! I have that quad and I love it! It doesn't pull orange on me, but instead is very flattering. I have light-medium skintone with olive undertones.
I gasp when you swatched Pat's baked eyeshadow ♥️ I will always be amazed when i swatch her baked gelee ♥️ Amazing video. So much wonderful and helpful information. Thank you! 😚
Thank you so much for this video! It's very helpful to see swatches of different brands beside one another this way. I always learn so much from you! ❤
KIKO has a holiday collection with 3 baked gelee shades in golden packaging (one of them a gorgeous light green) that actually feel like they are more similar to BB and PML. I swathed them in store a few weeks ago and was quite impressed.
I completely agree!! Mariam is the best Pat McGrath reviewer in the world - with the mind of a scientist and the style of a classy woman who knows who she is! Settling in to watch now :)
Some baked Pat mc Grath are a bit more wearable and less chunky. I particularly love the violet baked shadow in Modership VI. That bluish purple colour is ❤️
VR Violet in Mothership I, Blitz Emerald in Mothership II, Blitz Amythest and Gigabyte in Mothership III, and VR Emerald and whatever the blue shade in Nocturnal Nirvana are all examples of PMG baked gelee that aren't chunky :)
I just remembered the Suqqu 2020 holiday eyeshadow compact with 8 baked shadows. It’s a wonderful formula with mattes and shimmers. Still being sold by second hand retailers in eBay (where I got it from). I wonder what you’d have thought of it :)
I remember it! It’s the only made in Italy product they had. But yes, it’s a lovely baked gelée formula. From what I’ve seen it’s similar to Sisley. I skipped it because it was radically different from the usual Suqqu formula made in Japan.
They must have made so many and they didn’t sell as well. In eBay they are still sold for £10! I think it has the same quality as PatMcGrath, only it has different all baked geles textures- mattes, smooth shiny and glittery. I keep it with my Pat shadows and has prevented me from buying more motherships. I just prefer the slurry formula a little more myself.
I'm still not sure what's the difference between the baked gelée and the souffle eyeshadow formulas. Are they all souffle with different baking and drying times? Or it's those softer ones you show? Been watching the "lipstick lesbians", here on TH-cam, they explained the new Patrick Ta formula, for example, is a souffle. Maybe that helps somewhat. :D Thank you for the wonderful video i needed so much. 💖
Never heard about “soufflé” eyeshadow formula. It may be another synonym for baked gelée. Patrick Ta eyeshadows are what I call baked gelée, they are hard to the touch, like plastic
@@bobmindset It's what they called them, "the lipstick lesbians". One of them is a product developer or something in the industry. And they know the right names for formulas. I think she also mentioned the baked gelée. If i find out more, i'll let you know. :D
There will be new releases in this formula. I will keep my list updated with all the new baked gelée releases. The link to the list is in my description
Hi BoB! I love these videos you do about baked gelee formulas 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 they never get old. I must get that imperial moon palette by Guerlain before they stop making it. I also got that Bobbi Brown quad but luckily ended up returning it as I didn’t like the looks other influencers showed with that palette. The reason for this is that I discovered that pinks only look good on me if they are blended with a brown or taupe. There was no earthy colour in that palette to ground it. Pink blended with a burgundy makes me look weird. I love the TF Hazy sensuality for this reason, the bottom 2 colours pink/brown look great together, but also the top 2 colours are gorgeous. This palette doesn’t accentuate fine lines on the eyes too (which we know some TF do) possibly because it’s not heavily pigmented. It’s such an easy everyday palette for me, I always get compliments when I wear it. I really enjoyed this video and your thoughts on baked gelee formula 🙏
I am low key jealous of that Chanel quad with the brown and the green. It must have been before I got into true luxury brands because I don't even remember it.
I own 2 FlowerKnows palettes and since owning them I have been wondering how China (in particular Hong Kong where FlowerKnows makes their makeup) has been able to produce baked products; since Italy was the main location. But you're right in that the chinese brands formula is much softer like a cream to powder and very sensitive thus you pick up too much at times. Similar to the italian formula, but not the same at all. The quality is there and the products are lovely, but China will need better labs to produce that Italian formula. I recently had obtained a Tarte blush face trio and it's made in Taiwan and it's baked as well. It's very light and airy the texture and requires a lot of building up to get a strong cheek. Just mentioning this cause Tarte makes all their stuff in Taiwan now and it seems Taiwan is also doing baked products not just mainland China or Hong Kong Italy should watch their backs LOL. The Taiwanese and Chinese labs are coming for their gig and I'll be so curious to see if more american/european brands like Tarte for example move their formula over to Taiwain/China for baked releases in the future; it would be cheaper than Italy after all.
I suddenly remembered, have you tried Charlotte Tilbury's face palettes? Also baked gelée! The one in 'nudegasm' is glorious! (Very vulgar name though).
The shimmers in the Florasis pallete I have are much more sheer that what you showed. The mattes are very pigmented. I prefer the Pat McGrath version hands down over all. I have most of what you showed except Sisley and Kiko.
Yes! They ware baked gelée! Unfortunately discontinued, so they are not in the baked gelée list. The Revlon ones are still available so I put them in the list. They’re on the powdery side just like the Kiko ones
This like a history lesson in baked gelee eyeshadows! I am loving it!!
Ahahah let’s call it experience AKA aging! 🤣
@@bobmindset I am grateful for your experience, it gave me a different perspective.

Yes, my favorite compact pressed powder is Chinese

Love these comparisons. I rarely wear eye makeup but when I do it’s for night and for that reason I only own Pat McGrath.

You can see the passion (from both of you) for this type of formula.

Yes! I swatched them too!! I’ll wait for them to go on sale before purchasing a couple
@@bobmindset I was contemplating that too. HAHA
@@mariam.a.Are you talking about the wonderlights metallic magnitude ones? With the clear lid? :/
@ I have no idea what they are called possibly clear lid. One greenish and two more beige champagne colours. 13€ a pop.
@@mariam.a. I can see 1 green, 1 mauve, 1 champagne, 1 peach, and they are 16/piece here. Kiko is confusing, I'll stick to my pat goodies! 😞

Yes, Mariam has a better description of the different finishes, while I focused on the most glittery ones here (that are the latest trend)
I should use that Violet more often.. And to do so… I need to depot my Mothership palettes… 🤞
