- Hey friends! Lets go thrift some books! A few weeks ago, I celebrated my birthday and was gifted a $40 gift card. I decided what better way to spend my birthday gift card, then thrifting! My local thrift store always has a promotion where you buy 4 books and get the 5th one free! I decided to take you guys along on a "Come Thrift With Me" vlog and see what treasures we find! Outside of books, I am always also looking for little trinkets to add to my bookshelves and I also check out the apparel often!

Nice haul 😊 I'm a big Silvia Moreno-Garcia fan! The Daughter of Dr Moreau is great ❤ dark, creepy, tense with the historical backdrop woven through the story - I hope you enjoy it too!

I always get thrifted puzzles!! Sometimes they do have a missing piece but often i've found that most have all of them! Either way, i still enjoy them ❤

I loved The Daughter of Doctor Moreau! Have you seen the movie? The Island of Dr. Moreau? It’s old but I loved it as a kid. lol
I was today years old when I found out it’s based on a movie! 😅 I’m going to have to check the movie out. Do you recommend seeing the movie first or reading the book first?
@@alifeofpoetry it really doesn’t make a difference. The book isn’t a prequel or sequel really. Just based around H.G. Wells book, The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was then made into the movie years ago. The movie isn’t the greatest thing out there, lol, but for a horror movie lover like myself I was a fan! So when I first heard of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s take on it, I was so excited! I love her writing!

Loved the video! I am so surprised that your thrift stores has books so expensive 😮 my local stores are usually a standard price of $2 for hardback and $1 for paperback.
I know right!? The books here at the thrift store go from $3-$6. I always think about how I feel that is pricey but often wouldn’t say anything because I figured it’s still a “deal.” lol thank you for justifying my thoughts! lol glad you enjoyed the video! 🫶🏼☺️

Your niece is adorable. ❤ I'm going antiquing with my brother tomorrow. I doubt that I'll buy anything because I just came home from a big trip, but it'll be fun to go out and browse. That cottage is really cute. I keep going back and forth between wanting a little cottage like that and wanting a historic Japanese house. I've been meaning to read These Witches Don't Burn and I am thinking about really reading lots of witch books this autumn because there's several that I own and a lot that I want to read. I've really enjoyed the Silvia Moreno Garcia books that I've read. I have yet to read The Daughter of Doctor Moreau so I'm curious what you think of it.
Okay a historic Japanese house sounds amazing!!! I also love traditional Mexican home structures! That would be a dream home one day too!

the little cottage!! 🥹😩 i personally don’t want to live in a cottage but that’s a dream getaway vacation home for me.
i love thrifting but my local stores are not fun, although i just found out a local Austin animal shelter has thrift stores around town!!!???? part of the proceeds go back to the shelter for the animals 🖤 and now i’m definitely giving it a shot.
A cottage far away from any noise is my goal for the future or a nice little farm lol though if I do that then I won’t have access to many thrift stores then? 😅😭 so glad you found a local thrift in your area, Gia! Let us know what you find if you decide to go! 🫶🏼
