I am not even kidding!! I AM LITERALLY READING IT RIGHT NOW!!! I was procrastinating the ending cuz I feel like I know what will happen and finally picked it up again to read it and sara posted AND I SEE THIS COMMENT !!! 😭🥹
Perks of being a wallflower broke me the movie especially was so impactful. Feel like another really good and impactful read/mini series that stuck with me forever is “Looking for Alaska.”
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman literally changed my life. the first 50-65 pages i was literally gonna DNF it and i’m pretty sure i put it down and started another book but then i came back to it AND THANK GOD I DID because it made me cry so many times and the quotes in it are so amazing! highly recommend
The Beartown trilogy is my favorite in the contemporary fiction, I am in love with character studies, the glimpse into the real world, politics, teenagers, families etc.. Such a beautifully done work of art
Perks is my favorite book, I've read it every year since 2011. The Nightingale was a 5 star book for me 3 years ago and Beartown was a 4 star read. So watching this video with some of my favorite books was so lovely!
Thank you for being so considerate, caring, sweet about us your videos are like a WARM HUG I watch them whenever I am feeling sad, angry, or just need some book recs BTW- you should make more reading vlogs I LOVE THEM
I really enjoyed this video; I love seeing you branch out! I'm a huge fan of Kristen Hannah and have read most of her books. The Book Thief is also a great book! One I haven't seen mentioned in your comments and is one of my absolute faves is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine--very highly rated on Amazon and Goodreads. ♥
i dont know how well this would work but i feel like a good video idea would be to read old booktok or booktube books. Like now days everyone has been picking up all the new releases and the more popular books right now. But instead you could make a video where you read all the books that used to be popular in 2020 to 2022 and see how peoples book preferences may have changed. It would also be kind of a fun throwback💗
Beartown is the first of a trilogy. And the story of the town as a whole is a slow burn over the trilogy. I recommend continue reading the series and you'll appreciate the first book more and more. Backman is one of my all time fave authors. Def read more of his work. Try Anxious People or A Man Called Ove next. Books that have blown me away this year include: The Silence That Binds Us. Bright Young Women. The Last Love Note. Remarkably Bright Creatures. The Butterfly Project. And I really loved The Prison Healer series.
I'm so glad you enjoyed "Beartown". It's such a great book. I feel like if you really enjoy his writing in "Beartown" then you'll like "Anxious People" by him as well. The writing and the way he weaves characters is pretty similar.
I’m in my “idk what to rate anything” era as well and I’ve just moved to a “recommend/recommend to certain people/do not recommend” scale and it’s taken the pressure off!!
The My Brilliant Friend quartet is astounding and critically lauded. It can be difficult to get into and the names are confusing, but once you're in, you're in. It's immersive and sweeping
My mom's favorite book is "The Nightingale". She isn't a big historical fiction person either. But she read it back in 2016 and that book is what sparked her love for reading. She's actually re-reading it right now. What a coincidence !!
Kristin Hannah’s The Great Alone got me back into reading. I think the Nightingale is my favorite of hers so far! I didn’t think I was going to be into historical fiction, but now I’m hooked ❤ those tears man!
a man called ove and the beartown trilogy are some of the BEST books i have EVER read and i LOVEEEE everything kristen hannah writes, your subscribers have great taste lol
At the start of this video when you said, what’s your favourite book of all time, I thought of Nightingale and to then see other people had also thought of that, I didn’t expect it because I’ve never heard anyone talk about this book before!
It’s so fun to see you read books for the first time that we’ve already read!! My favorite book of all time is We Begin At The End by Chris Whitaker. This book is so slept on and it breaks my heart bc it is just so so good
Sara I swear we’re on the same wavelength sometimes 😂 I just finished Beartown recently and immediately picked up the other 2 I 10/10 recommend reading the others I’m almost done with 3rd and it’s ahhh in the best way possible. Love your videos 🤍
on the topic of not rating books. i stopped rating books in the last 3 years and ive found myself enjoying books more without thinking about how im gonna rate them in the future. it helps me focus on the story more. maybe you should give it a try!!
I've also recently stopped rating books. I still say 5 stars if I absolutely love a book, but it's just part of the vernacular of loved things. But other than that, I find it easier to just think about whether I would recommend it, how good the writing was so I know if I like the author, and just vibes. I realised that stressing over whether a book is 4.25 or 4.5 stars is really silly, and kind of ruining the experience of just really loving a book for the experience of reading it.
These are my fav kind of videos from you when you read outside of your regular genre ❤ You should make a part 2 and read books that aren’t “tiktok books” 🫶🏼
ahhhh sara that's exactly how i felt about Beartown!! i gave it 4.5, and then Us Against You was an easy 5 star and made me think of Beartown as a 5 star series :') i hope you continue it !!!
I LOVE that you were skeptical of the Nightingale and you ended up enjoying it. I couldn’t stop smiling she’s my favorite author and my favorite book. So happy you loved
The NIGHTINGALE was the best book I’ve read. I finished it 2 weeks ago and can’t stop thinking or talking about it. Since i finished it, I’ve read 2 more Kristin Hannah books and purchased 5 more!
Omg and beartown... Best video ever. This book had the best quotes ever. I don't know why but I just love this book sooooo much. Also, the characters, family and friend relationships... Omg. Love!!!!!
for my historical fiction lovers, two books I think about weekly are 'a thousand splendid suns' and 'home fire'. A piece of my soul is missing from reading these books
If you’re in a fluffy lighthearted/mystery mood with a tad bit of romance I cannot recommend enough Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick and Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan. No mystery but still lighthearted I recommend On the Fence by Kasie West. Want an emotional connection? I loved In Five Years by Rebecca Serle. Some of our 5 star lists intertwines, so I didn’t include some of the fantasy’s. I’m pickier with thrillers but I enjoyed The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda and Dark Corners by Megan Goldin.
Kristin Hannah is such a great author!! I’m glad you finally got into her stories, Nightingale was soo god. I just finished the Great Alone and her writing it’s truly so immersive, I truly felt like I was a part of that world. Beartown and Perks are so nostalgic for me as I read them each when they came out - I need to go back and re read now thanks to your takes!
I read the first two books years ago and loved them! The HBO series of Beartown is done well. I would like to go back and read the rest of the serie. I read The Book Thief in March and it touched my heart so deeply. A book that was so unique and beautiful.
Sara i never rate my reads anymore! i feel like putting a number on my feelings doesn't feel right anymore and its such a nice feeling not having the pressure to rate books accurately! maybe you should try it out, like not rating the books you read for a week or a month
I looove Kristin Hannah’s style of historical fiction 😭 & I never thought I would until I read two of her books (the four winds && winter garden) recently 🫶🏻
30:00 I read this one with you. It had been on my shelf to read, but I read the first page and put it away. But I stopped the video once you mentioned you were gonna read it. I gave it 3⭐️ and I find it funny how 1999’s “wallflower” is today’s most outgoing kid.
You’re editing for the nightingale was beyond prefect! I wanted to cry even tho I’ve never read the book but also laugh because your edits were so cute ! 💖
I am not a big fan of historical fiction but love Kristin Hannah’s writing. I got into her books earlier when she wrote more contemporary fiction and the way she gets you invested in the characters is everything. I held off when she started going historical fiction but shouldn’t have doubted her-I liked The Nightingale so much (in a heartbreaking destroy me way) and will now trust her always.
Omg now it’s Beartown-one of my faves. Again the characters and the heartbreak! The second one, Us Against You is also so good. There was a third released in the past couple years but I haven’t read it yet.
I used to be the same exact way with historical fiction. Turns out I wasn't reading the right books. You have to find the authors that make it feel like you're reading contemporary books. I hiiiiiiighly recommend Diane Chamberlain. I have given every single one of her books but one, 5 stars! And much of the time, one timeline is present so it doesn't feel so historical. I'm so glad you filmed this video!!
I love your vlogs so much! Today was a pretty rough day so your videos always cheer me up and they’re my comfort place💖 gorgeous as always and ily so much!!!
I literally just subbed. Your videos motivate me so much just like Haley Pham to read books. And I feel like all the books that you’ve read or most of them are literally my type of books! And I am so grateful that you came along in my life and you recommended and got me out of this giant two year reading slump. TYSM.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
This was such a good video! Beautiful editing and reviews of the books. Your videos are just so fun to watch. History/Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres so now the Nightingale is on my radar.
Historical fiction it not my favorite but Kristin Hannah is a favorite of mine. I’ve read a lot of her’s and the last one is her newest The women and believe me when I say it’s going to be a top read of the year.
The five people you meet in heaven 🪽 by Mitch albom; it was required reading for me in high school back in 2007 (yes I’m old) but it really made me fall in love with reading and that book changed my soul
I had to watch perks of being a wallflower in high school and I fell in love with it. But it definitely makes you think. I’ve never read the book but I loved the movie
OMG I was shooting a TH-cam video and was looking if any of my favourite booktubers had posted a new video so i could watch it while reading then I saw that you had posted a video, so I IMMEDIATELY started watching it
You should do a vid where you read books and compare them to their movie/tv adaptations!!
I love that idea💖💖💖
SARAH YOU SHOULD DO THIS!!
Sara if you love “a book you don’t read but feel“ + like the world war 2 setting, I think you‘d really enjoy “the book thief“!!
Oh now I finished watching & you mentioned the book yourself haha. Yes, definitely wait a lil until you‘re in the mood :)
Nah 22 hrs ago, this is trippy
@@tay_rizulLITERALLY! I had refresh my notifications to see that this wasn’t posted yesterday bc this just gaslit me lol
@@tay_rizul she uploads early to her patreon so those people are able to watch/comment earlier:)
I am not even kidding!! I AM LITERALLY READING IT RIGHT NOW!!! I was procrastinating the ending cuz I feel like I know what will happen and finally picked it up again to read it and sara posted AND I SEE THIS COMMENT !!! 😭🥹
Who else is obsessed with seeing what Color nail polish Sara is wearing in the video lol they are always such a slay
Perks of being a wallflower broke me the movie especially was so impactful. Feel like another really good and impactful read/mini series that stuck with me forever is “Looking for Alaska.”
So true! Reading Looking for Alaska at 14 changed my brain chemistry
true i really love looking for alaska
same same same, looking for Alaska got me into reading and its just so impactful and beautiful
I loved these books and tv adaptions!!
i read looking for alaska the beginning of last year and loved it sm! i’ve been wanting to watch the mini series but wasn’t sure how good it is
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman literally changed my life. the first 50-65 pages i was literally gonna DNF it and i’m pretty sure i put it down and started another book but then i came back to it AND THANK GOD I DID because it made me cry so many times and the quotes in it are so amazing! highly recommend
I loved Anxious People
SAME !! I struggled so much getting into this story but once I was in it I could not stop reading and cried so much. God i love that book
Ok I guess I have to pick it up again because I DNF‘d after like 70 pages!!!
Loved Anxious people so much. Again took me a while to get into it. But such a beautiful book!!
Wait really ?!!!! I've tried that novel twice and couldn't get past the first 50 or 60 pages 😂 am i going to try calling third time??!!!
let's all thank sara for being so sweet and caring about us😭💗💗💐
SARA THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING -- YOU SHOULD DO A BOOK THIEF READING VLOG EVENTUALLY BECAUSE THAT BOOK DESTROYED ME
The Beartown trilogy is my favorite in the contemporary fiction, I am in love with character studies, the glimpse into the real world, politics, teenagers, families etc.. Such a beautifully done work of art
just finished Beartown! are the other two books worth it??
@@peditsix definitely yes!! the second one is my fave! especially if you like Benji
The book thief is amazing, it has so many feels and a great writing style. It’s one of my all time favorites. The audible production is fantastic also
I adored The Nightingale, she has another book called The Great Alone that NOONE TALKS ABOUT but its so so so good, probably my favorite by her!
i’ve been begging for years for her to read it!!
Yes! I just read The Great Alone and lovedddd it! I liked it more than the Nightingale
@@brookeledford9580 Kristin Hannah literally destroyed my heart and then repaired it with that book its so special
I read that this month and has become my #1 Kristen Hannah book
LOVED The Great Alone! And her newest book The Women-a masterpiece!
Kristin Hannah’s writing is SO SO top tier
The perks of being a wallflower is an all time favorite
i second this
I'm so glad you loved Beartown
The best part about The Nightingale movie is that Elle & Dakota Fanning are playing the sisters
Stop….this is exactly what I imaged the entire time
I love The Perks Of Being A Wallflower !
Did i stop reading my book just because i saw this notification? YES
Perks is my favorite book, I've read it every year since 2011. The Nightingale was a 5 star book for me 3 years ago and Beartown was a 4 star read. So watching this video with some of my favorite books was so lovely!
