    This gun brought back liberty and freedom to me because when I was young I got caught with drugs but have served my time and since changed but a felony on my record hasn’t I have a smokeless powder recipe where I get about the same ballistics affect as a 40 caliber and it hasn’t blown up on me in Pennsylvania as long as you open carry it this is legal for me to own

      I hope you've verified this with a local gun lawyer -- my understanding is that while you may be legal to own the gun due to its "antique" status, you may be prohibited from purchasing or possessing either powder or caps, or (separately) from carrying the loaded gun outside your home. And a "firearm related" felony (felon in possession) is harder time, in most locations, than a similar crime without the firearm connection because of "add-on" laws. Many states do allow for "restoration of rights" that would improve your legal situation (though it varies wildly how much).
      Note, I'm not in the legal profession in any capacity and have never spent any significant time in Pennsylvania, this is just the way I've understood what I've read.

      @@SilntObsvr I hired an attorney here in Texas and it is perfectly legal to carry black powder revolver replicas here open or concealed. It does not matter if you have a felony or not. He also stated that these are federally legal in all 50 states, but the laws do vary state to state so everyone be very careful and hire an attorney as he stated. Definitely not worth the risk until you have the paperwork.

    That's a lot more smoke than I'm accustomed to from 25 grains. I'm guessing that it has something to do with less efficient burning of the powder. Would you agree?

      @johnzx6r  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Very good possibility. One of these days I may test that theory and bring out revolvers with different barrel lengths and video each one to see if there is a noticeable difference in the volume of smoke between the longer barrels and the shorter ones.

    Thanks for the video. They should try fitting it with some kind of stub loading lever with an extension bar you could attach to it so you could load the gun in the usual way. I've never seen this but I'd say it could be done.

    • @johnzx6r
      @johnzx6r  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen a couple people modify a Colt Walker with a cut down barrel and use a removable lever to load it without disassembling the gun. Probably not practical to do a similar setup with a Remington due to the way the base pin is needed to be held in place. I'm not sure if there would be enough room for a secure latching mechanism for a loading lever on this, but I think if there were maybe one more inch of barrel it could be done. Just one more inch of barrel would still make this a very short revolver overall, and still allow the possibility of mounting a lever.

    Can you swap out cylenders easily like the full sized 44cal new army? I can swap a pre loaded cylender in it just a tad slower than i can reload a standard pistol magazine.
    This looks super cool. The size is nice to. I want something small but at least 44cal. I was looking at the gladiator modern doublr barrel over under 50 or 45 cal bp muzzle loader but its only sold in czech republic rn which sucks. I cant find anything of a similar size and caliber sadly. I would really like to get a 44, 45, or 50cal over under or side by derringer thats about 1.5-2in shorter than the ace revolver shown on thr video here.
    These types of revolvers are neat but man i would never ever want to carry it around especially with loaded cylenders and i want something for when i encounter mountain lions, coyotes, wolfs ect in the forest when i hike and or also as a standard edc self defense setup. The derringers protect the cap better and isnt going to blow up from a accidental chain fiee which is waaaay harder to have happen compared to a revolver systems chances of chain firing.
    The diablo 12ga side by side bp muzzle loader pistol is nice but its to big like 11 in with 9in barrel. If the barrel could go down to like a 3.5-4in long barrel reducing it from 11in long to 6.5-7in long. It can easily take a 100-120 grain load, shir a 70grain load is slinging a 1oz slug like it weighs nothing so in a shorter barrel with a 100+grain powder load would probably be even stronfer than the 70grain load in a full sized barrel. Its near cus like pcp airguns have led cast slugs in all calibers including in 72cal aka 12ga so i dont have to shoot shitty round balls i can shoot slugs hollow points or solid in weights from 350-900grains. I would think you could easily make barrel inserts for it to, ide like to see what a 90-110grain powder load does with a 155grain .308 slug. Its gana thump up real good.
    Why doesent anyone make a gun where it uses removable barrel assemblies? Like have a over undr or side by side pistol with the barrels being their owb cartridges. Meaning you can load the barrels with powder shot and cap it off at the backside then just throw it into the derringer or side by side pistol like some extra long shotgun shells i mean if a barrel is only 3.5-4in long thats only a 3.5-4in long cartrdige. Not bad if i do say so imo. It would be legal since it would technically be the same thing as revolvers cylenders that swap out quickly like the new army does. The barrel/cartrdige system would bassically be counted as a single chamber revolver cylender. Its black powder still, its only muzzle load still, and still uses percussion caps meeting all the rules required to not have it be considered a firearm. Imagine how much nicer it would be to have something like that, instead of taking hella long pouring in powder a slug then a wad ajd then placing fineky caps on and finally after a multi min reload being able to finally shoot again. With a barrel system likr stated you could swap out for a fresh load as fast as you can swap out empty 12ga shells from a double barrel shotgun.

    • @johnzx6r
      @johnzx6r  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cylinders on these are very easy to swap out. You could very easily keep a pre-loaded cylinder handy and exchange it with the empty one in the revolver fairly quickly.
      I think these are pretty safe to carry loaded. There are notches at the rear of the cylinder, between the chambers, that you can lower the hammer into that prevent the hammer from reaching the caps and the cylinder from rotating. But the safest way to carry one of these is to just keep the hammer down on an empty chamber. You are of course down to only five shots this way, but it is a perfectly safe way to carry one of these, if you were so inclined.
      Interesting idea you have there with the swap barrel firearm. Anything is possible, if you throw enough money at it, but I don't know if any manufacturer would take on such a project. It would be something to see, though.
