    Thanks for this video, about to go pickup my first one myself, in Southern Idaho, potentially to make a mock huge umbrella/shade picnic apparatus on a dead pine tree trunk in back yard.

    I read all the comments praying one the commenters would have somehow mentioned driving by my house and wanting the one in my backyard. (NE TN)

      I’m sure someone in your area would be interested in having the dish.

      A very good point. I’ve heard many stories about nests inside the LNB. Fortunately I’ve never encountered it myself. Probably because I live in a cooler northern climate. Thanks for watching.

    Are you going to reassemble the old dish and install as a third dish? All you need is new bolts, nuts and LNB. Since it's a large dish an actuator will be great.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m thinking about it, but I don’t want to push my luck!

    • @gregorywood717

      Is there electricity running to the dish?

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gregorywood717 it was disconnected years ago. It’s DC voltage from the receiver which is used to power the actuator to move the dish and to change polarity in the LNB.

    I fractured my neck when I failed to seat the dish on the pole mounted on a Rohn roof mount. Saved the installation but know I have a plate in my neck. I was young and thought I was superman. Now I am old and wise? 🙄...Leo

      Yikes…. I don’t do roofs! And I’m not that young myself. Definitely not Superman. 😄

    You mentioned clipping the cables. Is there any concern that they are connected to any kind of power? I have one I am going to take down and am concerned about any high to low voltage.. Thank you!

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  ปีที่แล้ว

      Double check with the owner that all power has been disconnected.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  ปีที่แล้ว

      Any receivers that were connected are likely long gone. But double check before cutting any wires.

      @NorthcoasterHobby we have one in our yard. We've lived here 13 years. It's the frame, the mesh is missing. How can we be sure there's no power to it? I'm fairly certain the cables have been cut but I hate to assume.

    How much do these old mesh sat weight?

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They’re made of aluminum and actually pretty light, just awkward because of their size. The mount and steel posts are very heavy though. Thanks for watching!
