      I’m sorry dude science, philosophy, archeology, mathematics, history, biology give tons of evidence for a creator God and Christianity is the most evidentially robust faith on all the planet. It’s also way more evidentially robust than atheism. You’ve even shown that evidence in past episodes for genesis. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

    The story of Persephone and how she became queen of the underworld has to do with Greek customs at the time. Persephone accepting even such a slight thing as pomegranate seed still meant that she had accepted Hades hospitality and was therefore bound to him. Hence, beware of Greeks bearing gifts! The implication is that they will demand something in return.

    As a recreational belief, I like to think that deities in mythology have stories where they do weird shit like eat their children without killing them or gestating their children in a hole in their leg, because they live in a different plane of existence from us, and everything which goes on there doesn't necessarily translate to things that make sense, here. The reality is probably more like some priest had a dream, and just told people about it like it was a prophecy.

    It's worth remembering that Greek Mythology goes out of it's way to absolve Hades of all sin for his involvement in Persephone's situation - instead pinning all the blame on Zeus, who ordered him to proceed in this fashion. Plus, the reason we do not know the why behind the seeds is that none of the surviving copies of the myth include that section. There is a section between Hades offering the seeds and the Narrator explaining that means Persephone is bound to the underworld, but with all the copies damaged so badly it remains illegible.

    • @SkunkApe407
      @SkunkApe407 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It isn't discussed much because there isn't much to discuss. The loose collection of deities generally referred to as Slavic paganism emerged and disappeared withing just a few centuries. The man who unified Slavic paganism into a semblance of a religion was the same man who eventually Christianized the nation.
      Any video covering the topic would essentially be "Slavic mythology. Yeah, it was a thing." The belief system had no impact on the greater world outside of a small region, and is relatively irrelevant in the grander scope. It would be a difficult topic to dedicate an entire video to.

    • @AlexandruVoda

      Except we have plenty of proof that the Noah's ark story was plagiarised several times form other cultures (because at least 3 other versions have been found and deciphered and dated to be far older and far more similar to each other than the Abrahamic version) and also distorted from the original. The older versions of the story do not tell of a global flood, just a major flood, do not tell about an impossibly large oblong ark but a totally build-able with tools and materials available at the time yer still very large round coracle , and do not tell about housing every species on the planet just the household animals of the protagonist. The older versions are plausible and feasible and good mythological stories, the Abrahamic version is complete hyperbolic nonsense with plot holes at every step.

    Also- the religious component in the Ukraine or Myanmar is pretty thin gruel where present at all. More like state-interest, ethnicity, ideology. China-Taiwan, too, if we get around to that. Even where the parties are of different religion, there are conflicts where nobody thinks it's about that- Armenia/Azerbaijan, whenever India/Pakistan flairs up, and so on. In sub-Saharan Africa most of them seem a combination of ethnicity and normalcy- some things happen like the turning of the earth.

    12:35 the reason is one that's mentioned in many other mythologies: partaking into the food of the Underworld/Realm of the Dead means being trapped there. I believe this piece of myth was intended to explain why, very rarely, someone regarded as dead came back to life (usually from catalepsy or after being administered some form of first aid).
    BTW that story is often told with "four months" and "winter", but it originally was "a third of the year" (i.e. four months) and "summer" (because winters in Greece are not that harsh, while summer is and it usually dries the grass and other plants).

It’s also way more evidentially robust than atheism. You’ve even shown that evidence in past episodes for the book of genesis.

    Do we have to pretend that other holy books that people blindly believe these days are any better? Often, the problem isn't the books but the men spinning the stories to their advantage.
    But really, it's easy to take snippets of old religions and laugh at them. But in Greek mythology gods were humane, they made mistakes and they had bad feelings and habits. In old testament god was very proud, people needed to worship him, only him, and the way that he demanded. He got mad, killed nations because of petty reasons. But now, the image is of chill old dude, who forgives, as long as you kiss his ass a bit.
    Differences aren't huge, but ancient Greek sure did at least make better characters and drama.
