    Haven't seen a movie on the big cinema screen in ages. Made an exception for Dune part two. My only complaint was that it was too short. If the movie was 10 hours long, I would still complain it was too short. I was simply left with the feeling that I wish the story would never end, and that the movie would never stop. 2H46M felt like an hour. That's a good movie to me. When the movie doesn't drag, and you pray the film won't stop.

    I thought it was a very beautiful movie in the style and its pacing and story has so many layers. Top ten sci-fi movie for sure. It may go top 5 for me depending on dune messiah. That will be the the movie to see if dune becomes a franchise with staying power. Dune messiah kinda split the fans back in the day for many reasons. If they stay true to the spirt of messiah,yet change or tweak parts it may work out for most fans. Enjoyed the video u made. Thank you. Also loved the sound and soundtrack.Also if u can see it in 4DX it is a ride and truly puts u in the flim. Imax was great,even standard was. But 4DX was perfect.

    As much as I love Dune Part One and Dune Part Two, I do believe to be honest that Villeneuve made some strange decisions. He really did a great job in a lot of things. But sadly does a rather bad one in others. One of them, is the lore or mysticism of Dune, for the lack of better words.
    For example, when you read the book, it actually gives some explanations which are missing in the movie. And it has a lot do with a faction Villeneuve decided to leave out for the most part. The Guild Navigators. For example the Fremen actually bribe the Guild Navigators with spice so they make sure there are no satelites over the planet. And there are many other instances where Villieneuve decided to either not include or severely cut crucial informations. The role of Mentats, the importance of Spice - outside of "just" space travel! And so on.
    I also believe Dune Part Two is "weaker" compared to Dune Part One. Particularly when it comes to the Emperor and the Harkonnen. The Harkonnen have been awesome in Part One. They felt like a great threat, cunning, calculating - just as how the Baron has been described in the book. But in Part Two? They feel like cartoon villains. Nothing of that intellect and intelligence was really there. I also, again, don't understand why the role of the Guild Navigators and Mentats was pretty much cut. Those two are such an important part of the Dune setting. It's like removing all the elves from Lord of the Rings or something like that. The pacing of Dune Part Two is also a bit strange. There are some weird cuts and plot elements. It was better done in the previous movie I believe.
    I love Villieneuves take on Dune. But it's not without flaws.

    • @drkevin1302
      @drkevin1302  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah a lot of people were waiting for the Guild Navigators to come in at some point, but you're right in that Villieneuves does omit some aspects from the lore of Dune in his interpretations. However you have to admit he included an impressive amount of detail into a single movie whilst also making it immersive and cinematic, any more would have stretched the movie to like 5 hours long! Unless you have like some dialogue explaining everything but that's just cheap and not believable.

      The movie is based like 25,000 ahead in the future. Human society once collapsed over computer technology and AI and over 1000 years of struggle humans barely survived and rebuilt society. They now don’t have computers due to a computer and AI ban. The ships are piloted by “Guild Navigators” and any necessary computations are done by cyborg modified humans instead.

      @@drkevin1302 There are important key elements missing. For example the narrative happend to quickly. The movie covers the evolution of Paul which took >years< in the book. Paul also had a son with Chani which was killed by the Harkonnen. A lot of the characterdevelopment left me somewhat empty. And I actually really like Dune Part Two. But I think it's weaker compared to Part One. It did a much better job at creating a cohesive pacing that felt natural. In Part Two the cuts and change in pacing can be quite strange at times. Particularly Pauls transition from the "I don't want to be the Messiah" to "Ok I will totally be the Messiah now!". That didn't feel natural to me.
