  • Occator Crater on Ceres is home to the brightest area on the entire dwarf planet. At 57 miles (92 kilometers) wide and 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) deep, Occator displays evidence of recent geologic activity. NASA's Dawn mission found that the bright spots may have been produced by upwelling of salt-rich liquids after the impact that formed the crater. Pan and zoom as you fly over the crater with Dawn in this 360-degree animation made with observations from the spacecraft.
    Important note: Not all browsers support viewing 360 videos/images. TH-cam supports uploading and playback of 360 degree videos/images on computers using Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera browsers.

    Very cool because you can see just how few asteroids are in view in a real asteroid field. Ceres is cool too. I think I counted about 10 other asteroids in view.

    Can you make the Data available for Steam VR or Rift, This would be amazing to explore in detail especially at 1:1 scaling.

    Serious Question for NASA. In Controlling your SpaceCraft, How many times do you have to send One Command to the SpaceCraft for an Action, before it responds?? Please? Like, does it usually respond to the First Command sent each time? Good Video!!!

    It's also bright white when it is on the darkness side, away from the sunlight.
    So it isn't reflecting powder or sand. It is admitting light !!!

      Thanks, dude. I'm sure they'll keep that in mind for the next space mission. I'm sure those engineers didn't have a clue about how to render their videos, so it'll be a big help. ;)

    • @kendokaaa
      @kendokaaa 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering how this is just an animation (even says so in the description) they could've rendered it at 4k. This was probably made with sensor data and images

      Okay, let's dissect this. Have you any reason to doubt that a species who has already teleported quantum information, developed stem cell technology and is able to rewire the brain and figure out the quantum realm has no ability to put a camera on a rocket and fire it at a moon? Look at the technology you are using to write your messages and seriously, seriously have a think about what you are saying.

    • @jamesmaddison4546
      @jamesmaddison4546 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's one command for one action. These probes are so far out there that the delay time means 2 things, it must be capable of autonomous control etc, and also that you absolutely must get the command right the first time and not send multiple commands for the same action.
      If I remember correctly, the delay time from earth to ceres is around 30min one way, so command sent takes 30min to get there and a confirmation back another 30min, so 1 hour total. You don't want to be sending multiple requests for the same action nor do you want to make a mistake with the command given it can cause some real problems
