Murray's defensive game has always been outstanding. Brilliant returns, brilliant with the opponent at the net, brilliant at running down every ball. Not a Nadal-style defence by any means, either. He doesn't generate crazy power off his defensive shots or often hit blinding winners out of nowhere, but he can pull himself back into the point with clever manoeuvring and slice shots to work towards finishing them off. That lob that won the UK the Davis Cup was something else
Just fantastic to watch him,3slams,2 Olympic golds Davis cup triumphs winner at queens and a knighthood he should be proud of himself he was in an era with three off the greatest ever players and he beat them all 😊🇬🇧
Drop shot to Lob shot *Andy Murray could've legit been Unbeatable on any surface* He already has one of the best backhands in Tennis history and his forehand on the run is top 5 all time. His coaches really missed a massive opportunity + that style of tennis would put less strain on his body
This may not be at Wimbledon, but the best lob I've ever seen from him was against Delpo at davis cup 16', set point against in the third set after an amazing approach. That was outrageous and incredible as an Argentinian & Murray fan at the same time lmao
He lobed Ivo Karlovic 4 times in the same match. No more to speak. I suggest from now on to give the Andy Murray Trophy for the female and the male player who have ended each season with most lob shots unanswered. We have to go on and honour this guy's legacy!
I don't think his lob is extra special or above other players... what make it look really good is his 'tennis-brain' he understand when to use particular shots at the right moment and it stunning to watch.
I dunno, i think he does hit his lobs better than pretty much anyone else, off of both forehand and backhand, and with ridiculous consistency. Combined with having a good tennis brain, it's a pretty lethal shot
tomas berdych was the only man who tried to chase the lob. He almost crashed into the wall. ... Next time tomas just do the sensible think and watch and admire it like everyone esle..
Feel sad for Murray and Potro. Looking at the stats of Murray, he would have ended as one of the altime greatest. Potro too would have achieved so much. Injury cut short their careers.
I think he’ll be remembered as a 3x GS winner, double Olympic champion, ATP tour finals winner, Davis cup winner, 14x masters 1000 winner and former world number 1 before he’s remembered for having the best lob.
@@ScottH-ot8id I guess for the brits it is true. For the rest of the world he stays a good player. And, on a personal note, not providing the same level of entertainment of other players with a humbler pedigree

It's possibly one of the best match winning shots I've ever seen. He shouldn't even have been in the rally and then to do that....... unbelievable.
His backhand slice is one of the best too.
@Feed me a hammer and I will crap out nails. second to only Federer
Brilliant , he’s brilliant
I know it's all of Andy's best lob-winners at Wimbledon, but for me, it has to be The Lob winner, that won him & the UK the Davis Cup. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Samantha Bernard Great call Samantha, I remember it against David Goffin of Belgium on the clay 👏🏾👏🏾
Exceptional, a difficult shot and knowing exactly when to use the lob shows great tennis IQ
Most underrrated athlete of all time.
O I dont know... Andy has won Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY), 3 times.
Underrated? More like overrated. He's literally the same batch with Djokovic yet one has far more superior career than the other
Just fantastic to watch him,3slams,2 Olympic golds Davis cup triumphs winner at queens and a knighthood he should be proud of himself he was in an era with three off the greatest ever players and he beat them all 😊🇬🇧
Lobbing 2+ metre tall Karlovic is no mean feat
He actually lobbed him 5 times in the same match
@@taopaille-paille4992 6! 😂
Murray had everything really ,but the lob was perfection ,what a player he was ,amazing to watch 👍
GOAT lobber
I wish andy would come back and win again
I mean, he did...
Oh boy he's back at grand slams now!

Against a crazy slice backhand..... Such a hard shot to hit
Andy Murray the King.
2:05 that ballboy thought the point was over😂
Ball person 2:05
Slice + Lob is a really devastating combo
Very good player!
I still think Andy had some of the best hands in tennis and these lobs prove it
He lobed Ivo Karlovic 4 times in the same match. No more to speak. I suggest from now on to give the Andy Murray Trophy for the female and the male player who have ended each season with most lob shots unanswered. We have to go on and honour this guy's legacy!
Lob king
The guy's got the best lob shot in history. To be hitting top-spin lobs off a forehand drive with pace is just ridiculous.
Categorically the best of all time at lobs.
Such dedication from the ball person at 2:05
Coolest guy ever
Lobbing Ivo multiple times in the same match puts no one close to him in this category
What hands this guy has….
Lobbing skyscrapers like Karlovic and Querrey, piece of cake 🎂 for Murray 😆😆
Andy Murray and de minaur are really giant slayers. They could beat big servers all day long.
Murray has literally hit more successful lob shots than the number of successful overheads Djokovic has hit in his career😂😂
The best

Watching him lob 6'11" Karlovic 6 times in a match was so damn satisfying
Yes, best lobber in the game. I love lobbing but not everyone appreciates it’s a skill!
lob:most underrated shot in tennis, and yes pros are also susceptible to it
Lleyton Hewitt:" ahahahah".
Lleyton Hewitt is No.1, but Murray is also great. Murray's better point is his return. No one can hit lob shots precisely like Hewitt.
tomas berdych was the only man who tried to chase the lob.
He almost crashed into the wall. ... Next time tomas just do the sensible think and watch and admire it like everyone esle..
Tsonga got there though
2:05 that f* counter passer Gilles Simon deserved it so much lmao

Why the question mark?
yes
No wonder he won 2 wimbledons .....!!!!!
Easy answer: Yes. It´s not even close.
I agree, although I seem to remember Hewitt's backhand lob being highly thought of

👍👏
Wimbledon, please upload Roger vs Mark P. 2003
the GLOAT
2:06 ballboy thinks the point is over
1:03 Tom Holland’s twins
First two are almost identical
would have been great to see Andys backhand at Ted Heaths forehead
Y donde están novak y rafa?
I am his lob teacher 🤗
The only thing I like in Murray tennis
I am not sure about Murray, but nole does surely the worst
The greatest is David Nalbandian.
What about Lleyton Hewitt? Not really sure about Murray
Giulio Campi I was watching some old Hewitt highlights the other day and the similarities between the their respective games is uncanny.
@@DJB2 E th-cam.com/video/6Mu1vIWnoKo/w-d-xo.html
David Bodle thanks for your support man!
Fun fact: Murray used the lob because it was the only shot that could beat The Wall.
He's good. But he's not Nalbandian.
second👍
First🤣
Nah, Djokovic has better lobs
Not true.
No. Alex Corretja has a best lob.
Murray style is awkward. It’s effective only because of right timing.
Right timing is literally 90% of tennis
Best lob shot was Martina Hingis
No.
in ur dreams

Coric better I think
Going to be remembered as the best lobber is...kind of sad...
