Each episode I imagine Robert channeling Professor Frink from the Simpsons...trying to address the masses...
    this always makes me laugh.

THis was like a real version of Team fortress 2 where they are just fighting over pretty much worthless land

Gravel was actually very valuable in the construction & infrastructure booms of the 60s & early 70s. Also, it's not just crushed stone, but requires specific minerals if it's to be used as an aggregate in cement, or for paths & substrates.
Ironically, in the later 70s coal or "fools gravel" was about to lose much of its value. Between sulfur regulations & the increasing investment in natural gas, Grey could've possibly been stuck with actually worthless coal if it wasn't pure, high quality anthracite.

I didn’t think there were that many Greeks and Italians in America in the 1850s, let alone on the West Coast.

Tad's must have changed all that. I can't imagine how they could have charged the modern equivalent of a million dollars for a steak dinner.

@@notinspectorgadget no, the primary reason is actually how to counter one of the biggest pieces of fear mongering by the anti GMO: it prevents the possibility of the spread of traits to other plants
