This is great, the first chicken farm I’ve seen that can be raw not the usual lava cooked ones, I want raw chicken to trade with butchers so thanks for this.
Woah I knew foxes could grab swords and use their enchantments but never thought of using it to make a chicken farm like this, great idea, might eventually use the idea to make a similar thing!
Does this work with bedrock? The redstone comparator for me stays lit up un like yours and the fox didn’t kill any of the adult chickens I buttoned under him.
I tried using this with a variety different block heights for where the chicken stands, but no matter what I used the fox could always pick up a piece of chicken meat and drop the sword, or the grown chickens weren't tall enough to stick through the carpet and couldn't get attacked.
@@broom-z build it at bedrock level. It will still be loaded to produce chickens, but there will be no sound to be heard. When the time comes, a water elevator will do the trick :)) (I know, I'm evil)

There seems to be a problem when there are too many baby chickens in the killing pen... The chickens might get pushed up by sheer push-force and onto the carpet, where the fox will end up picking up the chicken and the sword may get thrown out of the farm.
@@EagleEye621 oh it seems my server has entity cramming off, it might be how the chickens are being pushed up while they die, causing the drops to enter the fox chamber
You can use a fox with an item in its mouth, all you do is give the fox something it can eat and it will swap that for something that it can't eat and when it eventually eats the food you can throw it the sword and it will pick it up! Hope this helps someone!

in case your grown chickens glitch out of your carpet, try clipping a hopper minecart inside the slab to collect the items on top of the carpet before the fox gets them
I have spent way too long trying to get a fox. I’ve been walking around the nearest taiga for ages now with leads and sweet berries to no avail. I even resorted to putting a chicken on a lead on taking it around with me to try and tempt a fox, but still none are spawning ☹️
@@EagleEye621 Don't most of the chicken drops get burned as the chicken die immediately after touching the lava now? I built a lava dispenser farm today but 90% of the loot gets burned. Either way, this fox farm seems mad nice especially since (apparently) the sword takes no duration lol
@@a_bear i have a different one that uses lava... in the newer versions you MUST use a hopper minecart to get the items before they burn (even if you 'flash' the lava)

you want to make sure the chicken is killed in one hit or else it can get knocked upwards, land on the carpet, and the fox might trade the sword for the chicken loot (breaking the farm)

It seems that this farm no longer work, no matter how you try it, the fox always manages to get the chicken and drop the sword, since I still wanted to get the raw chicken, instead of a fox, I used a vindicator, just put him in the same spot as the fox and name him Johnny, he will kill the chickens as soon as they grow up.
The Redstone portion won't work. When eggs go in the dispenser The Comparator Turns on but nothing else happens. The piston doesn't move. I followed Everything correctly what's wrong? :(
Made this in 1.19.3 realms and my fox dropped his sword. I don't know if there was a patch that changed interactions since then but I built this literally block by block with you so there's no discrepancies in building it.
Hi, eagleeye! So i am having a problem with my current chicken farm from this design. every time one of the babies grows up underneath the fox, it grows then like is forced on top of the carpet. This is a problem because the fox will kill the chicken then pickup the drops and lose the sword D: do you have any fixes for that? maybe i need less seed chickens?

The sword only has 2,000 uses - better to just add 2 more hoppers on each side with 24 more chickens each and good old fashioned lava. Hilarious concept though!

Gr8 video For future videos ( where you can either get cooked or raw meat/fish ) I recommend having a section with some villagers that buy the products ( preferably 1 for 1 emerald ) People tend to forget that you don't necessarily have to farm potatoes 🥔 or carrots 🥕 to get emeralds
I built this exactly how you did and everything works exoect when the fox kills the chicken it doesnt drop anything... and the fox keeps the sword each time too.
So I built this but a added a minecart ontop of the hopper and instead of a slab i added a campfire and it solved my issues. In one hour I have 100 feathers and 11 cooken chicken

This farm is honestly amazing. I built it a while ago and it worked like a dream. Unfortunately, it seems like a recent update has made the fox a lot grabbier (or maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it worked fine for so long), so he keeps throwing away his sword and grabbing some chicken after he kills one, so the farm breaks. 😭
@@EagleEye621 It's identical. It produced roughly a stack of cooked chicken before the sword was lost, so it actually did work. I'm testing it in a creative world on a vanilla 1.16.2 server (my own server, it has no mods and is not open to the public). Got lots of other stuff nearby, I'm using the world as a test bed for farms. I'm trying out this chicken farm again as we speak, double checking everything. There were a couple of raw chicken in the chest, indicating some entity cramming happened. Perhaps the fox prefers a raw chicken diet over an iron sword diet :)
@@EagleEye621 Saw it happen just now. The fox dropped the sword and took a cooked chicken instead. The sword went on the floor several blocks outside of the farm. So the sword disappearing is either due to the glass or the fact that the corners aren't encased with blocks. I'll put blocks in the corners and see what happens.

You should put unbreaking on the sword i think. because the sword will eventually break
no it won't :) ... doesn't take durability damage while the fox is holding/using it :)

it is a structure block. it lets you copy builds and move them... kind of like a clone command for everything in a set area.
creative mode block only... of course.
also the fox won't pick up the sword

I think you'll now have to use minecart hoppers like Rays works design does, as they pick up items alot faster than regular hoppers...
