    Mo you are such a good teacher. I appreciate how much I've learnt from your videos when I started my data analytics training in April this year. I am happy to say I've been working for a consulting company as a data analyst/SAP Cloud consultant since August. It took me 4 months to transition from Carpenter to Data Analyst and everything you said is true. Training, showcasing knowledge and building on top of every rejection (I got rejected over 500 times over a period of 2 months). Truth is, you only need one to say yes and negotiate a fair deal. All the best mate, happy to contribute with more of my experience if you want to.

      I did a lot of courses with Udemy for Python fundamentals (pandas), Tableau (guided projects - all hands on), Power BI projects and theory, SQL mostly on youtube, Excel you pick up doing some courses or watching videos on youtube as well. Udemy is pretty good because you can purchase their yearly subscription for about $260 AUD and have access to +10k courses. Good luck !

    It's really a nice video.
    I have 4 years of experience in content operations where i have worked for short video and live streaming platforms.
    I used to focus more on the growth of DAU(daily active users), explain our app features requirements to design team by analyzing the data and work on user base to analyse revenue of our apps. I realised it much later that, I really like to work on data and present it in simple format to my team.
    Now am confused how to make a career in it, because am from non tech and marketing background. I just have basic knowledge of excel and seeing so many different courses in the market confuses me!!

I made the decision to switch professions a year ago and am currently pursuing a second bachelor's degree in computer science. A master's degree at a prestigious university weighs in heavier with employers than certificates. Of course, it also costs a lot more and takes more time to complete so the choice is ultimately yours. If you have the money and the time and want to go for a masters degree, I don't see why not.

    Hello, I am self-taught in data science and related fields, without any degrees, and I want to carefully assess the market needs and how I could play a role before pursuing a path that I don't know where it will lead me. Do you have any original ideas about finding relevant information from companies that need data management? I mean, I think I should reach out to companies to have them communicate their needs to me. I should also consider the option of doing "spam" and various automations.
    Thank you for the video!

      Hello, It's probably my fault; I'm learning English.
      Since it's quite challenging to find a job in the industry, I'm considering that I should do something more proactive. I believe I should reach out to people from those companies outside of LinkedIn, Glassdoor, etc., because most of them won't even respond. I would appreciate any suggestions.@@mo-chen

    can you do a video about salary? I heard data analyst can reach a ceiling unless you move into management

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it can for sure, just like with any job. In general, if you want to make big money, you'll have to be senior. Coding won't get you the high pay. Making strategic decisions, leading others and the organization will.

    Hello Mo! I need your advice. I am a Hotel supervisor on my way becoming a manager. I love computer science and I know parts of programming, designing and IT support also. I thought becoming a Data analyst will be a fitting addition to my carrier. Maybe change it also. Since I have a Hotel management degree what should I do to step in to Data analysis? Is a coursera cert a good idea or you suggest another way?

    Best ever video. Sometimes I want to sit down and cry and give up. "Why rejected again?" I have the skills they want". It makes me think they don't select me due to the age. Example: if there are 2, 3 candidates with same skills, they might select the one that is younger 25, 30, instead 40 up, Which age they will pick? One think that puzzles me: they accept 70 years old person to be President, Congress people, but they don't select candidate between 45 to 60 to do data analyst or other professions. It's discouraging. I really admire you so much or anybody that has a lot discipline, determination, and humble. Thank you.

    Really a great inspirational video and what you experience I want to appreciate you, One question I want to ask you about coding like sql and python that how much coding I have to do in day to day tasks and what challenges you face in coding both sql & python and how you overcome it. Kindly consider this request Thanks

    • @mo-chen
      @mo-chen  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use SQL mostly to connect to various databases and pull the necessary data and Python to automate a bunch of boring tasks like data cleaning and transformation. In terms of challenges, not knowing what and how to code is obviously a challenge, but this is when you can easily just Google it or use ChatGPT to look up the syntax. This gives you a great starting point if you already know how to code, so then you can tailor the code to suit your needs.
