You’ve guessed it, we could only be referring to the collective genius of the team over at Strymon who have returned with the release of the incredible Cloudburst Ambient Reverb.
So what’s it all about then? First and foremost, Cloudburst is an exceptionally high quality ambient reverb, bringing the same reflective, shape shifting shimmer as both the Blue Sky and Big Sky. Comprehensive enough to deliver on all your reverb needs, it’s perfect for compact fly rigs or even as the sole reverb on a larger board. With several distinct voicings in one pedal, the Cloudburst can flit between the natural reverb qualities of a small space to all out expansive chaos in just a tweak of the Decay control.

I haven't heard a reverb that sounds better than Strymon's reverbs. They all seem to have very "natural" and "real" sound. Top notch company.
Source Audio's "E-Dome" reverb algorithm is just as nice as any ambient verb Strymon has ever done. I actually prefer it over Strymon's Cloud algorithm.
@@wayfaerer320 Source Audio makes great pedals. True Spring Reverb is my favorite from them. I'm not really into big ambient reverbs and I don't actually like shimmer at all. I get my favourite sounds from Strymon Flint. The 70s Plate reverb being the best sounding reverb to me. Subdecay's Super Spring Theory has a really cool room sound that I like a lot and Catalinbread's Talisman is superb sounding plate reverb emulation. Plate and small room are my go-to reverbs with guitar. This Cloudburst seems to have a great room sound too.

UA Golden is fantastic, but Talisman by Catalinbread has never come off my board since buying it years ago.
@@Zoso_1990 I have Universal Audio Apollo Twin and their 1959SLP plug-in is the closest creation of that amp and sounds amazing. I love EMT-140 by UA. Also I use their Lexicon 224 plug-in for guitar room reverb. Next thing I need from UA is Lexicon 480L because the room reverb in that is even better than the one in 224. I haven't tried their pedals yet.
Your playing, + the tele, the Z, add the pedal (or not), amazing. Beautiful.
I’ve watched other tutorial’s, you give the most utilitarian aspects, very succinct, exact parameters for each knob. Very good job. I now know exactly what this device can do and yes I am buying one!

I just bought one of these, was really excited over the entire cloud sound, but was feeling a bit apprehensive about the purchase, after watching your review which is one of the best I have seen period, any doubts I had are gone, can't wait to get mine and start exploring it's abilities.

My Cloudburst came a few days ago....and this is the best pedal I've ever bought... it seems so perfectly suited to the kind of ambient acoustic guitar I play. There's something almost AI like in the way the sound seems to shape itself around what you're trying to create.
At the moment only tried it through my Yamaha steel Silent and a Laney Audiohub 150....which just goes to show you don't heave to spend a fortune to get a great sound at home !!.

Excellent playing Jack!!! You really made that tele talk!!! I have a Strymon BigSky which I really like and have room for it on my board so will probably stick with that. If I was hurting for space on my board I would definitely be buying the Cloudburst. Great demo as always Jack!!!
I’ve been looking for this kind of pedal since the 80,s, the synthesizer stuff through the years has been lacking, most I wanted a string sound , this pedal seems to have that and a lot more, very smooth and not treble thin sounding like most I’ve heard. Great review. Thanks. I got one on the way.

Great pedal. Came here to say I love Jack’s style. Approaching like a guitar player. I have old style valve amps with no effects in and out so everything has to sound great directly into the amp.
Man, I have to say, that DrZ Z28 mkII sounds KILLER! I will have to boot up my Z28 mkI again and get her rocking!

You will like it- I’ve been running OBNE dark star and sunlight-great, but I took them out of the chain when I got cloudburst - running a volante also- amazing sound to me
Got mine this morning. Shaking with anticipation.
At around 17:00 when it went all wet sounding, I'm old enough to remember Christopher Cross, and we were there......but on guitar not Yamaha DX7! Excellent for guitarists who either don't play keys, or are in bands without keys players.........very cool tones.
Persoanlly, we have an excellent keys player, so I love the Mix a bit more towards the dry so that it's clear it's a guitar, but a WAY bigger cooler ambient guitar! What a pedal :D

Just received the Cloudburst and Keeley Halo. Was actually considering returning the halo after hearing the cloudburst. But after a few hours of playing I’m keeping both 😊

Although, I purchased my absolutely favorite ‘60s Lake Placid Blue Telecaster from Peach Guitars. Nice customer service, prompt delivery.

Yo @19:15 i don't know if thats improvised, an original creation, or someone else's song you're playing there but it sounds awesome. Really cool mix of chrds and single line runs. Great demo!
I like it. I use a Source Audio Ventris, its a great reverb, but I dont like having to use an app or my phone to get into all the features. The beauty of this pedal lies in its simplicity....well that and the sound of it obviously. I think my Ventris might be taking a hike.
I’ve got a Ventris. It’s awesome and it has some things and simplicity that strymon doesn’t have and vice versa. I will say the big sky MX has this cloud ensemble on board, and dual reverb now like the ventris so it’s
looking enticing.

Your astutely observed and stated review is much appreciated. Your playing also reveals a lot of the subtleties available on this brilliant pedal. Fun fact: I only watched this in order to bide my time while waiting for my pre-ordered Cloudburst to arrive one day. Pre-ordered it here in Germany the moment I saw my first video on it (by Anderton‘s), and I just can‘t get enough of it. ;-) It‘ll be added to my high-end, overly huge pedalboard for acoustic (and sometimes electric) guitar, alongside the likes of the Golden Reverberator and the MXR Reverb. Should be perfect for laying down „carpets“ of sound on certain pop and rock covers, thus fleshing out my solo acoustic performances very nicely, and without muddying up my tone. Loving it already!

I have a strymon Big sky, but this seems to have more wider sounds. Are using only the pedal and a amplifier? No fuzz, (or other) pedals before or after?

This thing sounds like the Heaven room in the Salt Lake headquarters at The Mormon Church of LDS must feel. Mitt Romney has to wear special undergarments to keep any arousal down. This pedal is Heavenly and arousing at the same time.

I am a new beginner (advanced learner) to Keyboard. I have a used Yamaha PSR s670. Will this work for me? Right now, I'm just using 1/4 output from one of the L+LR outputs to my computer speakers. It sounds good, but I want to have a sweeping orchestra sound on my computer speakers (and will order both L + R plugs) to the 3.5mm input if need to. Please advise if this will improve my Keyboard reverb sounds. Thanks!

Another fantastic demo Jack, you’ve nailed the many facets of this pedal, love it.
My experience with this unit was not so great. The reverb is phenomenal, but I found the ensemble part to be too fizzy for my taste.

How, would you say, the plain pure reverb in this pedal compares to the Big Sky plain pure reverb sound in a medium/large hall setting - as clean, pure, warm, etc, or not? Thanks
Nothing new from Strymon. They took their reverb algorithms, put them into a single pedal and they claim to be something new... And they pretend us to believe they are a company that take a look to the future. oh... pretending also to pay that shit undreds of dollars.
