I'm 51 and was a kid when this came out, to this day his vocals give me chills with the incredible notes this guy hits. Clearly one of the greatest vocalists in Rock history.
Heard it at the arcade!
Good Times in the eighties.
Me too and just saw then live in Montreal last summer - and although their age is showing they still put on a great show!! Their music was a great part of the soundtrack of my youth.
Me too 51....and still the same...
@@SergioSBloch I’m 50 and at the local swimming pool they had a radio that played pop music and one day they played this song and everyone stopped and listened to the new Scorpions song in awe. We were all rock kids in a poor area and loved them tremendously. It was an amazing time to grow up in. Kids these days won’t sadly feel this kind of energy from modern music save for a few artists that are not on popular channels.
Yes he has one of the best voices in rock music ever.
Still cannot believe they are not in the hall of fame. I've been a huge fan forever. Let's sign some type of petition to get them in the HALL.
I saw Scorpions in 1991 at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Denver and frankly, they were so amazing that I have no recollection of what other groups played that night. I cherish the memory.
I am so jealous right now!
Despite their commercial success, I still feel Scorpions are hella underrated. Started as an incredibly solid hard rock band, developed into a really influential classic metal band, and successfully bridged the worlds of commercial rock/metal with the more musically demanding elements of underground metal. They had a powerhouse vocalist, and not one but 3 (!) incredible lead guitarists in Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth, and Mattias Jabs, and one of the best riff-writers/rhythm players ever in Rudolf Schenker. They also had a near flawless run of albums from '75 to '90 and were a killer live band (Tokyo Tapes and World Wide Live prove that). If that wasn't enough they have a handful of iconic tracks that even casual music fans know. What more could you ask from a rock/metal band?
Klaus is amazing. I met him on a street one day on Melrose in Hollywood in 90/91. I was surprised he was so open and willing to talk with some random long haired rocker. His reaction to him telling him he was one of my favorite singers and an inspiration was really touching. I knew he probably had things to do but him taking the time to speak with me shows he is one of the truly great artists.
I made sure not to try and hold him up too much. As I also had things to do that day. Like rehearse.
Good Guy. Great Voice.
Klaus is the greatest rock singer ever. I’m 52 now and was introduced to the Scorpion’s back in my teenage years. For me they are one of the greatest bands ever
Winds of change holds very special meaning for me being a former soldier stationed in Germany in the late 80's as I got to witness the events mentioned in the lyrics.
My little brother was stationed in Wildflecken In Germany when the wall came down.
You might know him.
Ahhh we were there when the wall came down!! My brother is still mad at me as he and my dad left Berlin the night before to drive to Augsburg to visit me . Oops
If she does Winds of Change... I want to see the version with the Berlin Philharmonic. That's my favorite version
Wind of change, not winds
Ms Maggie, this song sets the bar for power balleds IMHO. My favorite thing about the composition of this piece is that the "hook" doesn't appear until three+ minutes in, and then is repeated until the end. Genius!
Listening to a song like this is like plugging in to the universe and just vibrating in sync with time and space.
Klaus is one of few rock singers that can sound as good live as his in studio recordings. He has also managed to keep his voice without damage throughout the years. The band still tours and he still sounds great.
He does, but this is however, the record version, not live.
@@rat4spd Yep
This had to be one of the best break up songs ever. I have always loved this group. They are all extremely talented and intelligent gentlemen.
The Scorpions are really genius. I do remember when this clip was aired. It was such a joy to experience music at these days. BTW Klaus Meine is married to his wife since 1977.
Great .... This is like a HYMN !
Not too many singers can stir the soul. he is definitely one of them. Shout out keep rockin.
One of the best songs and one of the greatest bands of my youth. Epic guitars and vocals. Always a blast to see them perform anywhere on any media format. Thanks for the review and memory stroll.
I've been obsessed with this song and his extraordinary vocals since I was a young child. His voice is truly stunning. ❤❤❤
This song caused a spike in births. Check the records, 9 months after it's released, boom! There it was. It's a timeless ballad where all the parts just blend so well together. A fan since 1981, at 10 years of age. The album Love at first sting has many great songs. Highly recommend. 👍🏼
Literal panty dropper
Maybe a combination of this and the Purple Rain soundtrack, which came out in the same month!
Scorpions are legendary
I loved this song when it first came out, still think it's one of the most beautiful rock ballads ever produced.
They have an incredible body of work that spans like 50 years…. And Klaus has one of those immediately recognizable voices ……they are amazing..
Without a doubt my favorite Scorpions song. Absolutely top ten rock singers ever. This song is amazing in any era
I was just out of high school when this came out. By far one of the best vocalists of all time. Saw them the summer of '84 in concert as a matter of fact. They are so good in concert. There are many Scorpions songs that you need to hear.
The Scorpions are The Kings of The Power Ballads!
Great job! They are always a favorite... love his voice!
Thanks! 🤗💟
For my money this is the best power ballad in rock music, hands down. Straight 🔥🔥🔥😎🤘🏻
Is EPICAL a word 😂😂😂 you're hilarious and fun to watch ❤
😉🙏💟
That was a fullplayback Show in german TV and that is the Album- Version - greeting from Germany
Thank you, it is so obvious that this was the album version over the live performance, I was expecting her to notice with the mouth being so out of sync in places. They can still nail it live though.
@@CaptainCaveman1170 That they do! One of the best concerts I've been to.
This song is haunting. A true masterpiece.
And they are still rocking it and on our right now. Klaus is an amazing vocalist.
Love that jaw dropping expression! This is a requiem for a love that was lost, and cannot be reclaimed.
It was recorded before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was written about the Berlin Wall and people on both sides, using star crossed lovers as a metaphor to hopefully bring down the Wall.
Thank you for your comment and support! 🥳💟
They have an album called "Moment of Glory", from 2000, where their biggest hits are orchestrated and performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. It's one of my favourite albums of all time, it's absolutely astonishing, and I consider it a crime that it isn't better known. All the songs on it are magnificent, but especially this, Wind of Change, Send Me An Angel, and Here in My Heart. Please please please check it out. Goosebumps. 🖤
I was very lucky to see them in 2010, and it was a dream come true! They're that good live, and it was an amazing, emotional experience. Klaus Meine, is, without a doubt the best singer I've seen perform. I couldn't believe the energy they put into the performance. Fantastic band, and it's lovely to see them appreciated anew.
Scorpions are all time. Just never gets old.
ALL the hair in this video is flammable!!! this is 80s and 90s hair-- full of megahold Rave hairspray !! Love this song--
Klaus sings 'clean' most of the time, lots of good ballads and timeless rock. My favorite is probably The Zoo, that driving sound is just killer. I blew out quite a few cheap speakers trying to get it loud enough. 😁
The Zoo and Arizona!!
By far their best song!
Childhood memories! 😍 I always watched "Peter's Pop Show" in german television, filmed at the good old "Westfalenhalle" in Dortmund/Germany.
Love the look on your face when Klaus started singing, especially when your jaw hit the floor,,, hahaha,,, Scorpions are Fantastic
I saw the Scorpions live in Munich back in 89 when I was stationed in Vicenza. Such an epic band.
When we were teenagers in the eighties, this song was on continuous loop at parties. We could dance for hours entwined with our respective crushes. In Germany we called it "Stehblues", I think the English translation would be „slow dance“….!😅
He has worked so hard
Maggie, I've watched several of your "Geoff Castelucci" videos and liked them all, but the fact that you actually looked up the lyrics on this song just earned you a new subscriber. This is easily the most heart-wrenching hit of the 1980's once you know the lyrics.
Une voix unique, que tu reconnais entre mille. Certainement la meilleure voix pour du glam et hard rock
I'm 58 and heard Scorpions 1st album when I was 14, and fell over like you did on his vocals! Please react to more Scorpions! They have a huge catalog. They're incredible live, I saw them a handful of times from 1980-1989. Just excellent live!! They've got some Gorgeous ballads!! React to "Always Somewhere " its my favorite ballad from them. Klaus has chops like no other! Thanks for the awesome reaction. I was waiting for your mind to be blown! ❤️🔥
Maggie while I love your reaction to this I felt a great sense of deja-vu watching it. Almost like I saw this same video months ago
yep thought so too
You did. Queensryche as well.
Indeed
The "Deja-vu" is strong with this channel
I remember as well, it was one of The few reactions she didn't sing all the way through.
One of us
One of us
One of us
Good one kid! I've seen Scorps about 20 times since I was a teen and they never get old.
❤❤❤❤
I saw Scorpions head line Monsters of Rock 86 at Zeppelin Field in Nurnberg with 3 of my fellow soldiers travelling up from Neu Ulm and we listened to all of their hits including Holiday on a juke box in a bar called Capo's in Ulm.
Saw them again with Dio and Deep Purple in Colorado Springs.
I would like to suggest you review their song Holiday
I was in the 82nd ABN, But the Soviet Union had a party at the Czheckloslavakian border, and they pulled a lot of us away and sprinkled us into different units overseas. I was sent to the 3rd INF in Schweinfurt Germany and was the company commanders Armored personnel carrier driver. There were talks, and I went back to Fort Bragg.
Looove your reaction to this! Got the same feeling when listening to this song. Massive chills.
I remember the day after a neighbor bought the album we filled sunken living room, parents were not home, I'm not sure might have 15 to 20 of 13,14,15 year old manics there. With album spinning the volume to be cranked up, from the first note the Scorpions rock our faces off! We did a full listen to both sides no one leaves the room. Rock on Rock hard 🤘
Although they started in 1965, I never heard of the Scorpions until the late 1970s. The Scorpions were from Germany and the US and the UK were the main providers of rock type material aired in the US. I heard some songs, I cannot recall the names now, on WNEW-FM and then they vanished again to not reappear again for many years on satellite radio. I rediscovered them again (re-rediscovered?) on TH-cam. Now I finally recognize how epic they were.
Good song. Good reaction. Good analysis. You made me happy. ❤
One of the most loved bands in Portugal. And they recognised that love when they recorded a live album in Portugal. One of my favourite bands and Still loving you is my favourite ballad ever. Thank you for the music and the memories.
This came out during my sophomore year at college. Walking across campus any evening, you were almost certain to hear it wafting on the breeze, from multiple dorm room windows. 40 years later, I'm still loving it! 😉.
Those sparklers totally remind me of that line from Smoke on the Water: "Some stupid with a flare gun burned the place to the ground"! 😊
I was lucky enough to meet the band it must be nearly 45 years ago , they were really nice guys , I can remember as if it was yesterday talking to Klaus and Francis buchholz for ages after their show at Newcastle city hall, my friend's and I from school were forming a band at this time , and can still remember asking Francis for advice on what to do getting an agent ect, it worked out and I played in a band for the next 6 or 7 years. many thanks Klaus and Francis. A great voice and a beautiful smile for you to check out is a vocalist/ keyboard player called JONAH NILSSON from the Swedish classically trained trio DIRTY LOOPS. They are looked after by the legendary QUINCY JONES.. I call their music ' Happy feel good music' , you'll see them smiling enjoying playing music, DIRTY LOOPS are JONAH NILSSON vocals and keyboards, HENRIK LINDER one of today's great bass players, and AARON MELLERGARD on drums, JONAH has the Michael Jackson/ Stevie wonder style funky vocals. DIRTY LOOPS do a great collaboration with guitar player CORY WONG and his horn section , the do an UNBELIEVABLE version of Michael Jackson's THRILLER, Another 2 with Cory wong FOLLOW THE LIGHT, and the unbelievable instrumental TURBO with the horn section in great form. Also to start your dirty loops journey check out the beautiful ballad DIRTY LOOPS BREAKDOWN, Then more up beat songs that will get you up dancing WORLD ON FIRE, ROCK YOU, HIT ME, NEXT TO YOU, next to you is an 8 minute classic that will take you all the way to church and back, then some great bass and drums from HENRIK and AARON with the strange title and dirty loops fans favorite WORK SHIT OUT ( all of these videos the studio video versions not the live ones). As I said JONAH'S mentor is QUINCY JONES from way back in the early Michael Jackson funk and soul days, there's a video of Jonah singing Michael Jackson's BILLY JEAN paris 2019 in a Quincy Jones tribute show. Jonah singing with musicians from way back in the early Michael Jackson days. enjoy your dirty loops journey , best wishes from the north east coast of England.
I am always amused when young people discover the music I grew up with.
Early Scorpions was great, I watched them all through the 80's and 90's and
saw them live in Austin with Whitesnake and Dokken!~ They have so many songs,
you should listen to every album! Peace!~
Saw them in the late 80s, front row. Still in my top five shows of all time.
Me too
He puts so much emotion into his voice. I heard this and had to go buy the album.
I grew up with their music... The best rock ballads ever ❤️🇬🇷
Seeing your reaction brought me back when I saw them on this tour, Scorpions have a great ballad on every album they put out. I saw them 3 times. Love at First Sting tour, Savage Amusement, and 50th anniversary tour. You need to listen to Savage Amusement "Walking On The Edge."" Like I said, Klaus has one of the best hard rock ballad voices ever.
Thanks for bringing me back to that tour. On the 50th Anniversary Tour, I took my youngest daughter to see them. Drove 8 hours she was only 16 at the time. They did 5 ballads unplugged at that concert. Just a FYI, Queensryche was opening band.
Have you listened to "The Zoo" by The Scorpions? It's my favorite song of theirs! It always transports me right back to high school in the 80s 👍
The audience is holding up lit cigarette lighters. It started in the 70s. Now people hold up cellphones
Scorpions are classic and he's always been an excellent singer! I grew up listening to them! This is a classic 'Power Ballad'! THIS is what a Metal band should sound like! :)
The first time I ever heard Scorpions was when they released their fifth album "Taken by Force", and the song The Sails of Charon was in heavy rotation. It was incredible. I quickly went and bought their other albums, and was a fan for life. I also especially liked their first album, Lonesome Crow. Some very experimental music on that one, but still really good.
SCORPIONS ARE ONE OF THE BEST VOICE ALL THE TIME, and you are more beautiful every day
One of the greatest rock songs ever
I still get goosebumps when I hear this song his voice and the emotion just rip into your soul 🙏
I saw them perform this song May 10, 1984 (40 years ago) in Sioux Falls, SD. Still remember it like it was yesterday. If we'd go again, all the way from the start...
On the German version of "The Voice", a year or so ago, a bloke named Sebastian Krenz did this song as his blind audition, and if you think this, the original, was a vocal wonder, wait till you hear Krenz's version.
Yeah he butchered it I thought. He can sing tho
Hard not to love the scorpz they are amazing
I saw the Scorpions few years ago live in Zurich. Klaus Meine's voice is still very impressing.
The original use of the word empathy was used when listening to music. It meant to let the music move you. To feel the music and immerse yourself in it. To let it create emotion and a story within you. The most notable portrayal of that use is in Disney's Fantasia. Scorpion's Still Loving You invokes that in you without even trying. Just listening to it gives you goosebumps or draws tears to well inside you. Few songs have that power. Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares to You is another with that power.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert. So good it made me cry.
Maggie I just got to say something to you as a fan of yours for a long time.
First time I ever saw you you were reviewing the sound of silence.
On that video and any other video I've seen you review since your musical take is completely on point and phenomenal.
An please don't take this the wrong way (it's a compliment)
as a young person, right who did not grow up on this music initially and as a young person who has sort of a fresh view on things rather than old older jaded people present company notwithstanding of course your view of it besides the music but just your whole attitude the way you look at it is so nice and so entertaining and just so phenomenal thank you for what you do please keep doing it😂🎉
I'm a little long in the tooth (have a little age) but a lot of us miss the old music.
👍🤘👌💥gefällt mir, Erinnerungen aus der Jugendzeit, gute Scorpione
Sparklers actually caught a bar in Road Island on fire. The entire roof ouround the stage end went up like wildfire. The band was "great white". I believe 106 revelers died getting stuck and stack on top of one another like cord wood. They televised it on cable news and I actually caught it as it was starting till the end. You can probably Google it.😢
I've loved this song since I was 15 yrs old. I feel so lucky to have had all these bands in my memories.❤️
Im 54 (drummer) still listening this song but slowdown in music industries
2 of my son like to hear all of genre but my 3rd son well played all my favourite songs 70s 80s & 90s level
He is a guitarist now
Proud to be a father
I got the tape when it came out, was always grounded playing with LEGO's with the Scorpions haha
I can't help but smile looking back.
To a time when are parents comdemed our music like this. Saying it was just loud noise .
I think they must have had hearing problems.
I ❤ Scorpions... Greetings fron Chile 🇨🇱
he is so talented
"Give me the deepest feeling filled by a whole heart toped with love!"
-> Go to a Metal Ballard!
I have seen these guys 26 times by now - and they are still rocking the sh*** out of you!
German Metal at its best!!
Truly one of rock legends
I love the journey you go through watching this, one detail I'd like to point out, this is live. Amazing performance.
This is not live. It's the original recording with applause dubbed in at the beginning and end. Note the fade out of the song and fade in of the applause at the end. Typical 80's trick to show a live performance as the video, while playing the original recording. Klaus is amazing, don't get me wrong; but this is from the studio.
Aah, such early 90's memories come to mind. School disco and this song. Lol
BTW, another good one is Winds of Change song.
I don't know why you weren't expecting these vocals. There are tons of great vocal from the 70s, 80s, 90s rock music. It's called competion.
*Scorpions Forever !* 🦂🤘🏻
3 I just saw the reaction today of you watching this. I already knew this song and I already knew you would fall in love with it.
Yep, fire. Love your hair. B-E-A-UTIFUL.
Thank you so much 😀
@@maggiereneemusic lol I'm currently watching SalvoG reaction to Metallica in Russia
That sensation you are feeling is amazement at one of the most beautiful songs ever.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have watched a lot of your reaction videos and I don't think I have ever seen you close your eyes when you were listening to a singer. I certainly agree with you, the man has an amazing voice and the arrangement on this song is amazing!
This song was played out in my heart and life for so many years.
May 1979, Lovedrive Tour, Sheffield City Hall - not sure how many bands i'd seen by then, but it was still in single figures... Remember them being so good, we had a choice of leaving before the first encore to get the last Train home 30 miles away, or watching 3-4 more songs and being stranded until the "milk train" in the morning. Needless to say, it was a miserable overnight on Sheffield Station, followed by a very, very long day at School the following day - no sleep and buzzing ears... Was it worth it - Hell Yes. Just a pity Michael Schenker had left about a month earlier - though I did see him solo multiple times, and a couple of times with UFO...
Scorpions are magic, that’s what it is.
I honestly think that a musical featuring Scorpions music should be a thing.
