Nice job. I just finished a dark side play through. You can turn the tables and use force drain or death field on the captured jedi, using them to fill your health bar before Malak does. LOL
If at the start and over the game you invest intimate charisma 20, wisdom 19 You get the valour skill (+5w, +5c), circlet saresh (+5w), star forge robes (+5w), become a consular and master light side (+3C), are level 20, upgrade your ability to kill having got it earlier in the game, you can actually force kill darth malak. His fortitude is 38 Force kill is 5+ level (20), + charisma modifier 28 pts = +9 mod, + wisdom modifier 34 pts = +12 mod for a total of 5+20+9+12 = 46 pts he constantly needs to roll d20 9+ meaning you can basically kill him using 5 attampts max usually even though it's costly on fp. His mind affecting immunity doesn't work of force choke or kill. Strange but true.
I did the same build but using a double bladed saber with power attack (+10 for 4 attacks is a garanteed 40 extra damage, and an additionnal sneak attack compared to dueling, no defense reduction is a big plus). It one shot Malak on difficult. I'm also using the 100% electrical damage resistance belt from Kashyyyk for this fight, negating his force lightning. No need for shield with improved Energy Resistance except if you want a flawless victory. All skills 20+ except treat injury with gear swap :D. I'll be trying an impossible playthrough with the restoration mod soon, great job! (I already this setup against Malak, he deals 60-90 dmg with improv. en. res. and fall in 2-3 power attacks, ill see how it performs for the rest of the game)

In terms of feats I went with Improved and Master Critical Strike, the Dueling tree and the Implant tree (8 in total). In terms of Force powers I went with the Stun, Speed, Valor, Cure, Energy Resistance and Suppression trees as well as Force Push and Force Whirlwind. Force Whirlwind is vital to defeating Malak and should not be upgraded to Force Wave because he has Immunity: Mind-Affecting. The items I have equipped are Beemon Package (+3 Constitution), Circlet of Saresh (+5 Wisdom), Karakan Gauntlets (+1 Dexterity and +3 to all Saves), Star Forge Robes (+5 Wisdom and +2 to all Saves), Verpine Prototype shield (absorbs 120 energy damage in total despite what the description says), Adrenaline Stimulator (+2 Dexterity and +4 to all saves) and a single-bladed lightsaber upgraded with Mantle of the Force, Sigil and Solari. You could swap out the Beemon Package or the Adrenaline Stimulator for items that grant Immunity: Mind-Affecting such as the Nerve Enhancement Package, Advanced Bio-Stabilizer Implant or Nerve Amplifier Belt, but I'd say you're better off increasing your saves to a point where there is no need for Immunity: Mind-Affecting (or Force Resistance/Immunity for that matter, which can still be a gamble). Not to mention Immunity: Mind-Affecting won't help you against Wound, Choke, Kill, Force Whirlwind, Stasis and Stasis Field (yes, there are some Dark Jedi that will use Stasis (Field) against you even though it is a Light Side power).
I am trying this build but I am having a hard time surviving in Taris. Any tips on how you survived pre Jedi? One more thing will this build work in the ported IOS version? Thanks.
Most of the time I used Carth as a meatshield (he's a Soldier so naturally he has an abundance of VP) and then made my character and Mission (both of them are Scoundrels) sneak up on enemies from behind and finish them off quickly. I always keep Carth equipped with two blasters, and even though enemies who are in close proximity to him ALWAYS receive an attack bonus of 10, Carth does so as well, which greatly offsets the attack penalty of Power Blast, a feat that is very useful for dispatching groups of easy-to-hit enemies. And yes, this build should work with the iOS version.
I got a little disappointed by consular in the end. I relied heavily on force powers an couldn’t make a single power work against Malak. My stasis field stopped terentatek beasts, but neither it, nor force hurricane, not even force storm worked against Malak. Had to use stimulants, verpine shield and medpacks. Not much of a force user, heh.

That means he has already used Force Immunity, either counter with Force Breach or simply CC him before he buffs himself. Whirlwind checks against his Reflex save, which is his lowest so that's your best chance. If it passes he'll also lose his dex bonus while debilitated, so Reflex goes even lower. You can buff your Force powers difficulty class through being lvl12 Consular, adding Wisdom (Saresh Circlet + Qel-Droma/Star Forge Robes), Charisma (light side mastery) and both with Master Valor. This probably won't get you a 100% chance to CC him, unless you put max points into these stats at character creation + leveling, but uncertainty just adds that little spice to the fight! (And you trade that certainty for more damage, so what's not to like). In any case, Improved Energy Resistance + Verpine Prototype shield would let you tank at least 3 rounds with barely a scratch.

@@imonke5303 Kreia despised the force, that was what Kotor 2 was about. It is why she couldn't stand Sion, as he relied on the force to stay alive. She had absolute respect and loyalty for the Exile because she/he shut themself off from the force, and was able to live without it for years
Awesome build, and it clearly works great. One thought I did have was, what would you think about replacing Stasis Field with the Fear - Horror - Insanity tree? It functions much the same as the Stasis Field tree, but operates on a Will save instead of a Fortitude save. In general, I would suspect the Will save of most enemies to be lower than their Fortitude saves. Assuming that is the case with Malak, you could free up the Push- Whirlwind powers to some alternative. I do appreciate the build showing how to effectively negate Malak's Force Lightning. I swear, if your defense is high, he just spams the absolute crap out of that power. I thought the Electrical Capacitance belt (75% electrical damage negated) would counter this, but I didn't notice any significant difference in damage when testing this years ago. Kind of a bummer you need to spend 2 Force Points to get Force Breach for effectively 1 fight in the entire game, but at least offensive powers become a viable strategy at that point. I assume other Force uses will activate Force Resistance/Immunity, but the threat they cause is less burdensome because they're not the final boss.
Depends on how high your Whirlwind's DC is. Use adhesive grenades to decrease his Reflex save (31-->29). Once debilitated, his Reflex save diminishes even further (31-->27; debilitation cancels out the effects of an adhesive grenade).
I invested only a few points in Treat Injury, in the beginning stages of the game. After finding Bastila there was no point in further increasing its rank because one, Bastila can heal you, and two, this is a Consular build and its main focus is Wisdom, which, as you already know, is Treat Injury's related attribute. The skills you should invest in are Awareness, Persuade and Repair. Awareness allows you to spot mines. The highest DC of a mine in the game is that of a deadly one (40), so you'll need an Awareness of at least 20 (provided you take a break from running every once in a while, because it imparts a -5 penalty, and aren't engaged in combat, which ensures a 20 is always rolled). It shouldn't be too hard to accomplish that, seeing how Awareness's related attribute is Wisdom. A persuasion skill of 19 is ideal. It ensures 100% success rate when faced with easy and medium checks, and 75% success rate when faced with hard ones. Don't forget to use Force Valor! As for Repair, you need to get it up to 17 in order to fully repair HK-47. Even with an Intelligence of 10, you should be able to raise it to 17 BEFORE (spoilers ahead) you are captured by the Leviathan, just make sure you buy Calrissian's Utility Belt on Dantooine and use Force Valor.
Can you clear something up for me? I'm playing this for the first time and keep seeing people online saying that Energy Resistance reduces damage from blasters and lightsabers by 15 despite the description not saying anyting about energy damage. I'm testing that in the Grove on Dantooine with Juhani right now and the feedback isn't saying anything about either Energy Resistance or Improved Energy Resistance when calculating the damage from her swings. Am I missing something or do they not actually work against energy damage? I'm playing on IOS if that affects it any.
Inyaole In the PC version only Improved Energy Resistance grants resistance vs. energy damage, despite the description stating otherwise. I haven't played the iOS version, but it is possible the devs at Aspyr made some gameplay changes.

Inyaole Yeah, it shows up in the Feedback window. I'd say it's still worth it because it minimizes Heat and Cold damage from grenades, mines, projectors etc. or completely negates it provided you have a high enough Reflex save. It's also very helpful against Malak's Force Storm as shown in the video which can otherwise be pretty devastating. Combined with a high enough Will save (at least 35) it pretty much negates electrical damage from his Force Storm.
The yellow wisdom stat means he has +wisdom items equipped. 31 is his total modifier after all those items are taken into account. +10 beside it shows how much those equipped items are affecting it. 31 - 10 = 21 is his normal stat modifier, which is achievable during level up. The star forge robes give +5 and Circlet of Saresh (headgear) also gives +5.
My character was a Level 7/13 Scoundrel/Consular. His Force Powers (17 in total) were: Cure -> Heal Force Valor -> Knight Valor -> Master Valor Stun -> Stasis -> Stasis Field Burst of Speed -> Knight Speed -> Master Speed Force Push -> Force Whirlwind Force Suppression -> Force Breach Energy Resistance -> Improved Energy Resistance
I'm stuck on this fight... on easy mode... I can get to the second to last round thing, but this isn't possible for me :/ I don't get to beat the game because of my lack of good healing items and him dodging all of my attacks
I need help I made my guy dual wield modified light sabers but there is also an modified double blade but it’s with Juhani I am playing on mobile so I have no chance against racing to the dead bodies to heal with death field so all I could do is heal at the first few seconds of the fight with that and kill droid the rest I got force storm a few mines and 6 life support and 16 advanced med kit and 50 normal med kit I got the Jedi armor in the korriban cave I played this blind so didn’t actually know that canderous and juhani or bastila won’t come with you I went past a lot of remains of with soldiers and dark Jedi so I didn’t have enough life support I don’t know what to do because this entire game my focus was on Canderous, Juhani, and Bastila who for some reason didn’t open the door for Canderous and Juhani
Dude, why don’t you just say you didn’t watch the whole video. Malak drained *two* of the Jedi, then the player Forced killed the rest. I’m pretty sure he didn’t kill the first two Jedi to demonstrate how powerful he was against Malak. The point of the video was to show the power of his character build, not how fast he could defeat Malak.
"If into the security recordings you go, only pain will you find." I played Kotor 2 15 years ago and thought it was a masterpiece. I tried to dive into the first game to fill in the gaps with the overall story, seeing as it received glowing reviews and was the first installment of the only game I considered a true masterpiece, but was utterly disappointed in Malaks overall character design. I regret to say that I grinded through the game without much interest or excitement solely because of Malaks appearence, dialogue, and voice acting. (He looks like a bullied high school nerd who grew up wanting to tear everything down. Combine that with a raspy monotone dialogue and all interest in him as a genuine sith lord goes out the window for me.) If you played kotor2 and are thinking of playing the first game...dont, you wont find the answers you seek.
So, some half witted, scruffy looking nerf herder, who woke up with a silver tongue and luck, turns out to be a jedi consular, known for defusing situations diplomatically and peacefully, but not only that, was THE DARK LORD OF THE SITH... ... ... ... ... and yet it makes sense story wise. Think of a smooth talking snake oil salesman or indie freight hauler being the Sith Lord with an army.
is it just me or the stat and power distribution systems are just too unnecessarily darn complex in kotor? when I saw theese while playing the game first time, it made me sweat the crap out. ( I played in my android tablet, the graphics and stuff were barely any different)
I lost all respect for you once you put up your energy shield. Even worse, you did it from the item menu. Why not just load up on stims while you're at it?
I was playing on Difficult which increases the damage dealt by Malak quite a bit, so shields are a necessity. Stims are redundant at this point in the game.
Hadrian Dzhezairlyan energy shields are not a necessity, they are overkill. Literally any decent build could have gotten through this fight “flawlessly” by just repeatedly activating their energy shield. Especially since you did it from the item menu, so you don’t even use a full turn. The fight was already over at that point.

Keep in mind when going 2/18 you will only get sneak attack I. If you go 7/13 you will get sneak attack IV.

My character was a Level 7/13 Scoundrel/Consular.
His Force Powers (17 in total) were:

I made my guy dual wield modified light sabers but there is also an modified double blade but it’s with Juhani
I am playing on mobile so I have no chance against racing to the dead bodies to heal with death field so all I could do is heal at the first few seconds of the fight with that and kill droid the rest
I got force storm a few mines and 6 life support and 16 advanced med kit and 50 normal med kit
I got the Jedi armor in the korriban cave
I played this blind so didn’t actually know that canderous and juhani or bastila won’t come with you
I went past a lot of remains of with soldiers and dark Jedi so I didn’t have enough life support
I don’t know what to do because this entire game my focus was on Canderous, Juhani, and Bastila who for some reason didn’t open the door for Canderous and Juhani
It wouldn't work against my Jedi Guardian build, I'm immune to force powers and stuff

Dude, why don’t you just say you didn’t watch the whole video. Malak drained *two* of the Jedi, then the player Forced killed the rest. I’m pretty sure he didn’t kill the first two Jedi to demonstrate how powerful he was against Malak. The point of the video was to show the power of his character build, not how fast he could defeat Malak.

"If into the security recordings you go, only pain will you find." I played Kotor 2 15 years ago and thought it was a masterpiece. I tried to dive into the first game to fill in the gaps with the overall story, seeing as it received glowing reviews and was the first installment of the only game I considered a true masterpiece, but was utterly disappointed in Malaks overall character design. I regret to say that I grinded through the game without much interest or excitement solely because of Malaks appearence, dialogue, and voice acting. (He looks like a bullied high school nerd who grew up wanting to tear everything down. Combine that with a raspy monotone dialogue and all interest in him as a genuine sith lord goes out the window for me.) If you played kotor2 and are thinking of playing the first game...dont, you wont find the answers you seek.

is it just me or the stat and power distribution systems are just too unnecessarily darn complex in kotor?
when I saw theese while playing the game first time, it made me sweat the crap out. ( I played in my android tablet, the graphics and stuff were barely any different)

I lost all respect for you once you put up your energy shield. Even worse, you did it from the item menu. Why not just load up on stims while you're at it?
I was playing on Difficult which increases the damage dealt by Malak quite a bit, so shields are a necessity. Stims are redundant at this point in the game.
Hadrian Dzhezairlyan energy shields are not a necessity, they are overkill. Literally any decent build could have gotten through this fight “flawlessly” by just repeatedly activating their energy shield. Especially since you did it from the item menu, so you don’t even use a full turn. The fight was already over at that point.
