my grand dad farmed all his life, when I 1st learned to plow he would help me set up the plows, we had a 2 bottom on a IH 300 U, he called bad plowing cut and cover, if he saw anything sticking up or out of the ground I knew I screwed up and would give me hell by saying " dam cut and cover" , Not to many guys can set or plow like this anymore, put you are doing a fine job
Awesome video. I remember watching a custom operator plow our fields with a 2+2 and 6 bottom kverneland auto reset in the early 90's. He plowed fast and did an amazing job. I think the 2+2s axles lived longer with faster wheel speed in heavy tillage.

getting the right adjustment on your plow. all plows require different attention so its hard to say. but on this plow its a semi mounted plow wich means it is mounted to the hitch on the tractor but is also like a trailer plow. Trailer plows are the easiest to plow with.
U have that set-up perfect and I'm a John Deere guy!!lol Great looking machine, those were some well built tractors in their day!!!! Nice Rig for sure!!!
To answer your question Call Me Nash. When one of the furrows hits a rock the furrow instantly rises and then immediately flexes back to its usual plowing position. This way damage to the plow is avoided and the farmer can plow rocky fields conveniently.

It's not just well adjusted, but the soil type allows it. Here the soil is clay, and it by nature is rougher. My dad was raised 15 miles away from here and the soil is better. My grandpa had a 3 bottom Little Genius #8, a packer wheel and a pony press drill hooked together and he did seed right behind the plow. He pulled it all with a W-4. The tractor is still going and still is in the family 70 years later. In this soil, A W-4 or H would never pull it, nor would you be able to seed behind the plow.
Nice machine. Clean. I think it would benefit from some weights in the front, but it doesn't appear to be a rack for them. Oh well, looks like it does a great job
Each plow has its own set of VERY stiff springs and when the moldboard or (plow) hits an object in the field it will kick up the plow to ride over the object and the springs AUTOMATICALLY push the plow back down to its previous position to keep plowing. Auto Reset or Automatic reset..
And when they come back, they come back with a vengeance! We have a 770 plow which is much like the 710 but it's a trailing type. We pull ours with a 1066 or 1206.
Not wide enough or fast enough for todays farmers I miss the good old days of being paid for layout ground and being able to plant a cover crop/green manure crop on summer fallow ground and plowing it under
My 3588 has developed a vibration on occasion, mostly on a downhill grade. Push the clutch in and it stops. Anyone have any ideas what that could be? Dealers don't have mechanics that anything about these tractors. Thanks for the help.

What size tyres does that 3588 run on?
It belongs to a friend of mine and I'm not sure how much he spent on restoring it . But through and through its one sweet tractor.

He has 3 or 4 on each wheel plus the ground he is plowing isn't hard packed. It was tilled within the last year.

You don’t see them with 23.1x30’s very often. All of ours had the 18.4x38”.
That soil looks nice compared to the rock soup that I've got up her in Washington State.
Im not trying to be a critic, but if you raise your plow before you take off, it will save some wear and tear on the clutch.

It was too bad that the 2+2 came at the end of IH development and Case was not interested in it.
I've often thought that a 2+2 built with the power shift and cab of a Magnum would make a really nice machine.

Please don't mind me asking, for I know little about agriculture, but why is it called automatic? What's automatic about it?
The plough will only get into the ground when you take off first... So dont bother.
