    No matter what anybody says, you may not be the highest subscribed fishing TH-cam Channel out there but ur ambition and ur enthusiasm are what I love about your channel. You’re just doing what you love and trying to spread you knowledge and love to as many people as you, and in my book, that’s as real as it gets. Keep grinding, if it is was up to me you’d have 100k tomorrow!! 👍

      Thanks a million for watching and leaving some great feedback. It's always excellent to hear from you and I truly appreciate the support. Yes, the prevailing northeast wind this time of year always are a bummer... Silver lining is great fishing in the back side of cold fronts... The wahoo are coming. Slow pitch isn't going anywhere.. I have plenty more to show and learn, so, it's gonna be an epic journey from here. Thanks again for everything. Tight lines & take care ;)

      Thanks a million for watching and leaving some great feedback. I really appreciate the support. My pops lived on Cudjoe Key for 20 years, on Jolly Roger lane. Hurricane Irma was not nice to him, flip his 28 foot dusky over in the canal. Regardless, Good luck with fishing, hope the weather cuts you a break. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Hi Heath, Slow pitch jigging looks so cool. I would love to try it sometime. I won't be back on a boat until June. Hopefully I'll have a chance to try it then. In the meantime, I'll be watching you. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey

      Hi Mickey, slow pitch is fun and exciting... The hook up is the best part. Haven't been out on the boat in 4 weeks... My throttle broke... Had it replaced... Wheather was bad... Missed a week... Then my car blew a head gasket... Been working on rebuilding my engine for 2 weeks... Should have it back together by tomorrow hopefully. Seasons are harsh, especially winters up north... Not sure I could do that. Stay warm. Hope all is well with the family. Take care :)

      Hi Heath, I hope you're back fishing soon. Sorry about your car. Fortunately we are all fine. I work on my fishing gear and build model planes during the winter. In the spring, my reels fling grease and oil all over my hands for the first few times fishing. I've lived in NJ all my life but I still don't like winter. You never see people from Florida move to NJ to retire. You live in a good area. Hope the family is well and you get your car running soon. Stay safe and good luck, Mickey

    Agree with other, you have great enthusiasm and I also appreciate the time and dedication. I've yet to ever slow pitch jig, but will have an opportunity this May when I go off-shore about 40 miles in 150-200' of water on a semi-chartered party boat (it's a 40 person boat but company is sponsoring 20 of the heads so only 20 of us will be on the boat). Now this being said I have a few questions: 1. At 4:40, is there a reason to attach the the lower weighted end of this non-symmetrical weighted jig? Most of the time do you see the eyes at the bottom or top? 2. This is the first time I've seen two solid rings used. Most often I've seen guys build their assist hooks such that they time their mono/fluro leader directly to the solid ring of the assist hooks and the length of them will work for all lengths/sizes in there jig bag, so they simply remove the assist solid ring that's tied to their leader and move to a new jig. This also makes me wonder about how that upper assist hook will behave in a hook set. I'm probably over thinking it. 3. Finally, like I said I'm going to try this for the fist time. I don't have any slow pitch jigging dedicated conventional setups. I live 4 hours from our coast here in central TX. I'm not going to slow pitch jig more than about one time per year. So can you have a quick look at what I have for rod/reels in the following video and tell me what you think? Thank you: th-cam.com/video/1NXI7VakQV8/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for watching and asking some great questions. This particular jig a symmetrical, so the eye placement is up to you... it works both ways. When I'm slow pitching I have the solid ring attached to my leader. The assist hooks are attached by their solid rings to split RI b gs that are attached to the jig. This way your jig is fully rigged. You don't want to attached the solid ring of your assist hooks straight to your leader. Don't worry about the 4 hooks. It's not too often that they get hung up. Any set up should be good as long as you have braid and some sort of flexibility and shock absorbency in your rod. If your interested, I have a Playlist dedicated to slow pitch jigging.. check it out for basics on technique. Good luck on your trip.

    What about a ball bearing swivel to prevent line twist ? Your going to get line twist every time you jig with your set-up.

    What about a swivel instead of solid ring ?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes you can definitely use a ball bearing swivel instead of a solid ring... The jugs do spin a lot on the decent. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel. Tight lines & take care ;)

    Is there a reason to use a solid ring rather than a barrel swivel? Will the lure work better with a solid ring rather than a swivel?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's personal choice. Some folks like the barrel swivel because of the line twist problem... personally I just like the ring... it's less clanking noise down there. Gives that little more touch of stealth

    How does this slow jig work?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Slow Jigging is a specialized tactic of jigging meant to entice a fish at rest to feed, because of the easy target aspect. To find out more about Slow Pitch Jigging, I have a short seminar at this link:

      Feel free to check it out, as some concepts cannot be explained, but must be shown. Thanks again. Tight liens & take care ;)

      Would this kind of fishing work with the kind of fish we have here in northeastern (NY,NJ,Connecticut) area? Thanks! Just subscribed, trying to learn slow jigging and i find the way how you explain things more easy to fallow and make more sense.

    I just use a small diameter flat screwdriver to split the ring , don't bother spending money on some fancy overpriced pliers.
    Hold the split ring , twist the screwdriver and install the solid ring to the opening , use some cheap pliers from your standard tool box to twist it if you need it , I do it by hand.
    Limit your gear , spend your money wisely.

      Thanks a million for watching and sharing. What you described is how I used to do it... stabbed my self a couple of times, but it definitely gets the job done. Split ring pliers make life a little easier, however, I'm not saying to spend money that's not there. I'm a budget angler myself. Regardless, always great to hear different approaches to a similar subject. Idea sharing, and listening, is key in fishing and being successful. Thanks again for your support of the channel, I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)
