He actually put on Facebook that he was going to de-friend anyone who didn't post that they didn't support Trump. We all just laughed but, he de-friended his entire family. She was traumatized for years from that experience. I don’t like that she’s making excuses for their behavior… they were young teenagers, they were in a group, they were drunk…That’s BS!! Hyperpartisanship is run by the media. If they weren't constantly stirring the pot and putting pressure on the politicians to constantly be at each other throats then you wouldn't see this kind of stuff going on now. For instance the hate on Trump has hit irrantional levels. The taking out of context and demonizing him for stuff that even other Presidents have done is bizarre. There were weird far right factions that hated Obama irrationally but they were held as fringe by both sides. Now, fringe is the new normal. Trump is more conservative than many conservative politicians and yet people seem to think he's something different than the GOP. The only difference is that he's narcissistic and enjoys being belligerent against the media and Democrats. I use to consider myself Liberal as well. I grew up in a Liberal household and was told as a kid that conservatives were close minded and disregard new ideas. As an adult I know what my mom was trying to say but I also realize now that it was equally as close minded for her to say that. But honestly what really pushed me away from being a liberal were the extreme leftists who insisted on whining and acting like a victim for what seems like literally anything. I went through a period where I was focused on bettering myself and taking responsibility for my choices. And I started to notice that these leftists would rather blame everyone else for their problems instead of fixing them themselves (and then just say it’s the government who should fix it). And I’ve grown to learn that thinking that way will always lead to misery. You can’t expect the government to solve every woe you have, and sometimes things are just suppose to be hard. I like what a famous entrepreneur once said (sadly I can’t remember his name), but I think it kind of shows how NOT smart the government actually is: “The A students are working for the C students, and the B students went into politics.”

Due to lowered status and self-esteem issues, black people often "grin & bear" these incidents in social situations which are causing us major health and mental health disparities. I'm not particularly big on Candace, but this was an intriguing story and it gave me a bit more respect for her. She has every right to hold this incident against those kids, but she has essentially forgiven them, and she could take the easy route and say "yeah, they're probably racists", but instead she affirms that people can say intentionally hurtful and stupid things sometimes without being labeled and defined by one single moment of bad judgement. People say terrible things at times for a myriad of different reasons, but things said in anger, revenge, or poorly thought out jest generally aren't the true emotions or intentions they would normally communicate, since in that moment, the goal is to hurt, shock, or tip the balance of power in an argument, relationship, situation, etc.
People have called their GF "b**ch" and "whore" in an argument before without thinking such thoughts during their normal day to day lives.

@@napoearth not you or I apparently, but I have seen it many times during my years working in bars. It's most often said by people who lack maturity or have poor control over their emotions. Many of these people were in "on again off again" relationships that weren't stable or had their relationships end on bad terms eventually. Someone like myself (and likely yourself as well) is on good terms with my ex's and we remain friendly to this day. My wife and I were together for 5 years before marriage and are coming up on our 15th wedding anniversary shortly.
My point about some people lashing out and intentionally saying hurtful things they don't necessarily mean stands though - surely you've seen it before, even if you haven't done it yourself.

Most other countries, obnoxious SJWs aren't even necessary, we've had equality for all races and genders for decades, so our left focuses more on climate change, education, economic policies, healthcare, etc. To leave all these very important topic behind just because some people are extremely annoying and frustrating, who claim to be on the left but really are just identity politics ideologues, is kind of dumb. How about just being a nuanced individual and just say, "Yeah, I'm left wing, but I don't care for identity politics and SJW and outrage culture and feminism (by the way, the right sure as shit gets outraged over some things too), and instead focus on economics and climate and these actual important issues." Yes but a lot of us have said many things when we were younger when under anonymity of online gaming that we would not say now, or would never had said in person to someone. Being mean with friends and trying to come up with the most savage statements can lead to some pretty nasty comments when you believe there are no consequences and you are young and dumb.

I understand this situation because I had close teenage friends who pranked me all the the, and especially when they were drunk. One was also a high functioning Autistic boy with Asperger's Syndrome which was undiagnosed at the time. The other had Social Anxiety Disorder which he medicated with alcohol his whole life which eventually killed him in his 50's. In retrospect, I understand that teenagers can be so stupid and cruel to each other, even when they are close friends. Their brains are not fully developed; then add mental illness + alcohol. It is a recipe for disaster.
Like Candace, I find the whole victimhood culture to be cowardly and counterproductive.
