It's almost like modern Japanese media borrows heavily from the past as a near-limitless source of narrative inspiration... almost... :p That would be a smart move indeed, since as Linfamy has shown us, historical Japanese folktales and recountings of epic battles, political intrigue and societal customs are a superbly abundant source of material. He's just one dude, and yet it would take somewhere in the region of 1000 years to watch all his videos (believe me, I've tried). For real tho contemporary Japanese writers have a lot to be thankful for that their ancestors took to recording their history with such gusto.

The invisible Wall Yokai is the Nurikabe. In the game Nioh, Nurikabe appears as a part of the wall with eyes that open when you get near. You can either fight them or use gestures to calm it down. Each Nurikabe likes one of the three types of gestures, and you have two tries. Luckily there are often tombstones nearby that claim that a character died due to being e.g. too friendly. And that is the best way to avoid fighting with them.
So many questions..like: will there be a follow up on this vid? What allowed these events to happen? as before there were only foreign wars. Why did the government allow all of this? And did you study at phoenix university? Quite awesome to see how such a shift in Japanese history can be told from the story of 1 man.

@@Linfamy I believe I originally intended to have the youngling run against the Nurikabe while making a pretty figure for the young lady until I changed it halfway to the narrator running against the Nurikabe while narrating until I changed it to a 'nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition moment' until I just ended up writing what I did. The process ran something like that. I think. 🤔
I will be honest I don't know much about yokai, but a lot of the comments are going Nurikabe and I searched it up I really like the way the invisible wall is in fact a three eyed dog XD
