Webinar: Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Programs & the Role of IPAC Leads in Long-Term Care

Public Health Ontario (PHO) is hosting a six-part weekly webinar series to provide orientation information to novice IPAC leads in the long-term care sector. This first presentation addresses key topics IPAC leads need to know to build a strong IPAC program in their long-term care home. This session introduces participants to relevant IPAC regulations, standards, guidelines and best practices as well as describes the key components in an IPAC program. In addition, the session shares information on the role of an IPAC lead, including necessary and ongoing training.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss IPAC regulations, standards, guidelines and best practices applicable to long-term care.
2. Describe all key components in an IPAC program including an IPAC committee.
3. Recognize the need for ongoing evaluations to identify opportunities for improvements.
4. Describe the necessary and ongoing training to lead IPAC activities in their home.
5. Recognize themselves as a leader and an influencer on clinical, financial and quality outcomes in long-term care.
