As a young Paratrooper & Army Ranger I was required to perform at a much higher level of fitness than the regular military units , which meant a lot of running, long forced training marches carrying heavy loads, and tremendous strength, Now at 65 years old I struggle to walk with a cane, my knees are shot, I have severe arthritis in my neck and lower back, I also suffer from tinnitus, and hearing loss, due to the use of high velocity weapons used while wearing inadequate hearing protection, during live fire training, and this is the thanks we get for all the sacrifice we gave of ourselves, " No Wonder " why the recruitment levels in todays military are so low, God Bless America and all those who have served RLTW !!!!!

Which, is currently under control of Republicans, and has been for some time. Yet, you blame the left for government deficits and spending. We've received far, far more increases in our disability pay under democrats. You can make of that what you will. However, it is a mathematical fact that our pay goes up more under one party than the other, and it's not the GOP. You can go do the math yourself if you'd like. In fact, I'd highly recommend you do and can see for yourself. Just because you are able to work n make a few bucks on the side does not make you 100% self-sufficient. IMO, if you are able to work, it's like getting paid for doing rehab n therapy, to be useful, to be of service is in our blood. We should not be penalized for doing so. The way they see it, they want you to be a complete vegetable to qualify for disability benefits without any scrutiny. However, isn't this totally Ass Backwards?? Since rehab n therapy is to improve your health? Granted,
no amount of therapy or rehab will ever get us
back to being 100%, but it is TOTALLY WRONG
for us to be penalized when we wrote a blank check with our lives to protect n defend our
Country and our Constitution. We deserve better and should be treated with more respect n dignity than the average joe. We are Americas Backbone! And if need be, I'm sure most of us would fight again without question if called upon.

There is a waiting list to get on disability (non va) it varies state by state. To cut disability benefits, and funds is sickening. They’ve tried to get me off of disability once, because they said I was too high functioning to be disabled. I have Cerebral Palsy, and now as of 4 years ago an amputation. I also have 4 insurances, and not one would cover a robotic prosthetic. Yet they covered 1,350,000 in hospital bills that throughout that timeframe. HA THE 14TH AMENDMENT IS A JOKE. You know it's not the CBO who made this budget. The Republican party is the one who submitted this budget. The CBO is a non-political entity. When they are submitted a budget by either party all they do is figure out what will probably happen if that budget is submitted and goes through. Again, they don't put out a budget or make any recommendations on budgets, that is done by whatever political party that submits the budget. I am a proud US Army (Airborne) disabled veteran before anyone starts talking crap to or about me. We need to be specific when talking about who is specifically responsible for this specific budget. Just google who your state representative is along with your senators. Once you arrive to their websites you can choose an option to send communication to them. The following is an example of what to send them:
      Dear Senator (or Representative) ???,
I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and a disabled veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. I urge you to oppose the proposed bills regarding veterans benefits that are currently under consideration.
These bills would reduce the amount of benefits that veterans and their families receive, such as health care, education, housing, and disability compensation. They would also impose stricter eligibility criteria and more bureaucratic hurdles for veterans to access these benefits.
These bills are unjust and unfair to the men and women who have served our country with honor and sacrifice. They would undermine the dignity and well-being of veterans and their families, who have already paid a high price for their service. They would also discourage future generations from joining the military and defending our nation.
I ask you to stand with veterans and their families, and reject these bills. Please vote against any legislation that would cut or restrict veterans benefits. Please support legislation that would enhance and expand veterans benefits, and honor the promises made to those who have served.
Thank you for your attention and your service to our state and our country.
      Hopefully this helps!

When you said they threw a dart to decide the 30% I laughed so hard knowing when I first applied for disability I received a 10% rating for spine damage and loss of sensation in both legs. The disability pay out per month was $123.45 someone in the claims section decided to press 1-5 on a keyboard just to approve my claim. I fought my claim so many times over the years I lost count. I was seen by so many VA doctors and was told my injury was in my head and nothing was wrong with me. They took away all of my medication and made me come back every 6 months to sit down check my heart rate and make sure I wasn’t using illegal substances. Then sent me on my way 5 minutes later. Eventually I was sent to a Civilian doctor who was stunned at my MRI and X-rays wondering how I was even walking more than a few minutes at a time with out falling over. This system needs to be fixed soon before we lose more brothers and sisters who feel like they don’t matter anymore.

They found spinal sinuous last November in my neck from C1 to C7, I filed on it and the VA found in my medical records the X-ray where I had a broken vertebrae from my injury, they gave me 3- 20% and removed the 20% for my shoulder and 3 months back pay, I am in constant pain with tingling pain in both arms and our government hid the facts of my injury for 50 years. Don't stop fighting for your rights as a Veteran.

First off, great video and I really appreciate your support. Now for the comment: Let's not let them forget that our compensation isn't just for serving our country but rather for it's as if they are saying that since we still have a functioning brain and can make enough money, we no longer have a service connected disability that the VA vetted is due to our service. People one thing has nothing to do with the other. How about congress not get paid forever once they serve one term? Same with former presidents. Just really hate it when politicians propose changes that they know not what there are talking about.

Those at the CBO who propose that veterans who are working experience reduced or eliminated benefits don't understand that the payment of benefits aren't in compensation for the veteran's physical abilities at the time of discharge, but how they WILL be when they are older. Military service spends a person's physical and mental abilities at a much more rapid rate than civilian work.

Every year the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) makes recommendations to reduce our federal deficit. The proposals to cut VA disability benefits are not a Republican vs Democrat issue as some comments read. Supporting the federal budget process is the CBO's primary function. They do need to stay the hell away from our benefits! I believe Denis McDonough has already discounted any proposals related to cutting our benefits. Let's hope that doesn't change.

My husdand is a Vietnam Vet., who was injured with a head injury and injury to his sternum. He has a piece of his skull missing from his forehead and has a scar that runs from his sternum to his naval. He has PTSD, bad nightmares and anger issues, dizziness from the head injury and a number of other problem. He was getting the minimum disability payments. He fought with the VA for 8 years for a higher disability rating but was pretty much told to suck it up, go away and die because at the time Vietnam Vets., where not looked upon with any care or sympathy or empathy. It always made me mad as people just didn't think about the fact that most Vietnam Vets., were Drafted and didn't have a choice other going to jail/prison or leave the country and for some those were not choices the could make. The problems with PTSD destroyed his 1st marriage and the anger issues caused problems between him and his two sons. But the VA was of no help whatsoever. It took the Vets comming home from the Gulf War for the Vietnam Vets to get the attention they truly needed. Finally in his 60's he was told by another Vet to go to the DAV for help and they did help him both with a disability increase and diagnosis for the meds he needed. But even after that when we went to the neurologist at the VA, we got the question of "Well, what do you want the VA to do for you?". This was the question he hated for all those years and it mad him equally mad this time and he walked out of the office. Now after fighting with the VA all those years they want to take his DISABILITY away????? They will have disturbed a hornets nest!!!!!! Not for just us but for millions if Vets.

Whether you got injured by an enemy bullet or injured in a stateside maintenance shop accident, if that injury left you with a permanent lessening of the quality of your life, you should be compensated accordingly.

@@johnstuartsmith that is debatable. I know military people who sat behind a office desk and pushed a ink pen all day long and some how they get disability. Take me for instance I served 4 years in the army and was a paratrooper and did 33 jumps. Never went to sick call. Fast forward 25 years later I am experiencing left knee pain which I think had to do with those parachute jumps I made. My plan is to have VA look at my case. I mean if someone can get VA benefits for sitting at a desk throughout their career

I received a letter last week. Beginning in January, my 100% P&T is being reduced to 30%. I can't file an appeal until after the reduction is in effect. Good luck everyone. I'm probably just going to check out of this world. 😭😭

A hint: It's the people who would default on the national debt rather than rethink any of the last administration's tax cuts to the wealthiest corporations. The party whose bone-spur-suffering president liked pilots that don't get shot down, the party with the people in it who admire Vladimir Putin more than the leaders of their own military, the party with a senator who is holding up the promotion of all senior military officers to prevent female military service members from being able to travel to states that haven't outlawed abortion. You know, those people...
