My problem with these games is that there is no build up. You're going 250km/h+ within minutes. The old NFS Underground had you start with something slow and you would appreciate upgrades. The cars seem to rotate and steer the rear instead of pulling with the front. The only class where this makes sense are the boats, because they do steer with the rear. When you were in the car meet, (All mustangs, daloreiens, and jeeps) that was because the first week is American muscle themes. So everyone picks and customizes a car in the theme of the week
Ah, okay - that explains a lot. Still wonder why there isn't more variety, though - there are more than three American cars (and Deloreans and Jeeps aren't even muscle cars).
You have to put it on H shifter in the steering settings if you want to use it, if you leave it on sequential, you can only use the paddles on your steering wheel
I always watch a lot of reviews before buying a game, to get the bigger picture, most reviews are positive but almost none touch the cringe dialog and the pointless cutscenes, which for me is unbearable and pleases no one, in one hand you have kids with short attentions spams that will skip the cutscenes, in the other hand you have adults that don't have time to waste by listening to gibberish, and in the middle you have teenagers and young adults that can't stand the cringe, these dialog heavy racing games seem to please no one and yet, triple A developers insist in making them, that's why the sim racing community has grown so much, sim racing titles respect you time and don't treat you like a retarded child
Overall nice video. We disliked the game for different reasons but I really like honest videos especially when they don't use the youtuber talk. Example: "I don't know how to feel about this"=I don't like it. It's hard to find honest reviews like yours on TH-cam.
Yeah, I think it's better to just directly say what you mean rather than confuse people by being indirect. I'll definitely use "I don't know how I feel about this", but only if I genuinely don't - an example, if I'm remembering correctly, is when I'm talking about Automation in my 2,000 subscriber video. I genuinely can't decide what my opinion is on that game, because I claim to hate playing it yet keep going back.
Motorfest's not my thing, but I'm glad you can get some enjoyment out of it! (also, thanks for being the only comment disagreeing with me that isn't a hate comment so far - it's quite refreshing)
Turn nitro off then lmfao youre complaining about alot that you can just turn off to fix lmao and theres lots to do in the game 😂😂 yall forza fanboys killin me😂😂
Yeah this is why I only really play driving games that actually focus on driving, like Beam. They can hype it up all they want but if every car, bike, etc just feels like the same invulnerable hovercraft, the AI are on rails and nitrous is a win button it's about as interesting as watching paint dry to me.
Agreed. The trouble is there aren't many games that are both fun *and* drive well - arcade racers drive poorly; sim racers aren't *games* half the time. Beam's plenty of fun if you have a goal in mind - it's actually my favorite game - but you have to find your own fun.
It's strange to see such a disconnect between old and new players. A lot of the old arcade /simcade racers are considered some of the greatest in the genre. Nowadays we've regressed to "unrealistic driving = bad"
@@neo1711 That's not really my point. I did play Flatout 2, NFSU, etc as a kid, difference between those and the new slew of showy but boring arcade racers is they managed to be fun, and all the different cars felt different. It's been 20 years since then, the games should feel better and more interesting, not worse and more samey.
@@neo1711 Although I'm the first to admit I just don't like arcade handling in general, my problem with this game's handling wasn't that - it was that it just feels *bad.* I don't remember for sure, but I don't think there was any time in the video where I felt fully in control of a car - not to mention how terrible my driving was when first getting used to it.
I actually really like arcade racers and I loathe that people call The Crew and newer NFS titles "very arcadey." They're actually immensely bad to drive because instead of having an actual arcade style handling system they do full simulations and then just change realistic input values for unrealistic ones. They're firmly "simcade" but in the worst way possible, which is why they understeer like a boat and then randomly snap oversteer during understeer. The Crew in particular is/was so bad that the first game had at least 1 major physics overhaul, if not 2 and then a couple tweaks. There was an Xfinity promo race in the Crew 1 that was basically damn near impossible at launch and it was specifically mentioned in their physics overhaul. This continued in the Crew 2 where it had just a slightly more stable version of the physics and continued tweaks. Then Motorfest came out with yet another physics overhaul. The only thing really in common between the 3 games physics model is that none of them are good. But you can find dev interviews, particularly about 2, where they talk about how the car is properly simulated with suspension, tire values, etc. but using fake input variables.
This game is indeed boring asf. You can’t even race in your own car in any of the events. You can but only after you beat it which is really dumb. What’s the point of the fact you can transfer your crew 2 cars and you only used them in free roam…Upgrades are also useless because again you don’t even get to use ur own car in these races. The AI is 100% cheating like the difficulty spikes so much in the game like in the crew 2 on the hardest difficulty they don’t cheat like in this game. Just stick to playing Crew 2 tbh. Modern racing games are so boring these days I can’t wait for Wreckfest 2 and Tokyo Extreme Racer
the game has fun parts, but the cutscenes make me feel sick, low frame rate, unfocused, shaky... euuugh, i wish we could colour the wheels anything other than some form of a tinted chrome, and i wish we could LOWER THE RIDE HEIGHT. i gotta say the way they make the music swell and morph to fit the driving is pretty cool and brings a fun intensity.
i played trial and love it, then i extend 3-4 times for ubi access and realized its getting worse and worse summit after summit, people cheating in summits short cuts and so on but okay then cheaters with wheelbase and controllers everywhere, after problem comes another problems infinite nitros bug, Reset cheaters, kiddo rammers, splitstream is overpowered and cherry up on hill is put more steering possibilites to controllers players even more, how this can help achieve fair play in cross platform doesnt know even jesus christ, however at same time i played crew 2 for cars and drops and i have to say i love it even more than motorfest where i started because map is complex not only one Hawaii which i love but you have there grand canyons, snow, hills, animals, jet boats.
i actually like the game a lot, but great review regardless. I mostly just use a plane and play the live summit, which is a weekly online competition they have.
Thanks! I'm glad you like the game, at least - it's (obviously) not my thing, but if everyone liked the same games the world (or, TH-cam at least) would be a very boring place.
i find this game so much more interesting than any other crew even forza 5. You need to give it some time i am sure you will change your opinion, plus future updates will make it even more better
Personally, it's just not my thing (neither is FH5 for that matter). I just don't enjoy really arcadey racing games, with the exception of Trackmania because it's not a traditional racing game.
@@HamzaSaleem-l9v Hey, if there's a free demo of a popular racing game, I'm going to try it out even if it's not quite in the niche I normally play. Sorry, but I don't think my opinion is invalid just because it's a negative one.
You can turn off voices and everything. These Devs work hard on this game. This game would have the best update in history. And ppl would still have something to complain about
Sure, and I did turn them off - but as we saw, that also turns them off in cutscenes, which means to have the "best" experience (for me) I'd have to constantly be turning them off and on depending on what I was doing. As for always having something to complain about, that's not really true. Change the audio mixing, which was genuinely painful to my ears after a few hours, fix the color grade, fix that voice thing and a few other little issues and discount the price a bit, and I think there's a fairly decent game in here that's just in a genre I don't like. It's not the fact that it's an arcade racer that makes me call it a bad game, it's just all those little flaws and its overall... corporate mania.
I think the Cutscene with the IRL Porsche footage was cool, but they really should've shoved you straight into a Porsche race after that, the shipping container Cutscene is bland and utterly useless
To add onto this, 1st of all, you *should* be able to use your own cars in most events, otherwise what's the point of buying them, second, Nitro should be a purchasable/unlockable upgrade like in Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012, I don't feel this game knows how to game, and is just another Ubisoft dumpster fire
I'm not sure if the container cutscene is just for the Porsche event, or (this is more likely) whatever your first event is. It does very much annoy me that in five hours of playing I did not find a single use for my own vehicles, other than the unnecessarily long and frequent drives between missions. I did find CARA's voice particularly annoying, but I think part of the problem is EQ - there's so much harsh treble in the consonant sounds, and it really doesn't play well with that voice actor's voice.
Clearly some ppl just want everything given to to them at the start of this game, the loaned car system makes you have a feel of the game/ what's to come in the playlists, not doing so would be pointless of the mood of the playlists as a whole. Locked nitrous is the ludicrous take I'd heard today... This game would not receive well at all if nitrous was locked in progress in game... that means ai opponents won't use that either...
@@CarlosJackson-e9d Loaned cars just make your progress seem pointless - why bother buying cars at all if the game's going to loan you one anyway? It's the worst of both worlds, because you have to buy a car to unlock a playlist, but then you can't even use that car to complete it. I'd go even further and say there should be no nitro at all, because as I said in the video, it makes the racing feel as pointless as the progression.
I actually have kind of the opposite problem - I really wanted to try GT7, but I'm on PC only so I cannot. Would be nice to have more global support all around.
Fun fact: this game was originally meant to be a DLC for the crew 2, but they decided to add more stuff and charge full price for it. I don’t agree with your dislike of nitro, and everyone else on the internet seems to like the handling, but yeah I’m not a fan of the game. I can’t believe that it seems even more soulless than Forza Horizon. Edit: just realized that the tachometer that it shows in the cockpit of your S2000 is way off from the one on the HUD lol.
That explains a LOT. That's fair enough, I think my problem is mostly that I just don't like arcade racers. In Motorfest in particular, the handling is so smoothed out that I just can't feel connected to the car like I can with more sim-like handling. It's like the real life feeling of driving a minivan when you're used to a sports car, or something.
Of course, I will believe someone who gave a bad review of a video game without even buying it, I think you should first play it for at least 10-15 hours and then give a review, the handling is impressive as are their cars, you have to know how to play to use them, besides who the hell goes off the road in the first intro? ahhaha, I don't know brother but each to their own taste, but they won't copy the handling from forza horizon to paste it on the crew motorfest just to fulfill your taste, greetings NO NAME
You're right, the handling is impressive. Impressively terrible. But at least the game makes up for that by barely requiring any steering input so you just get immensely bored very quickly.
Haven't seen the video yet but I want to say some things before. I really liked crew 2 and was my fav racing game ever and really enjoyed motorfest even if I didn't agree in that playlists force you to almost always use loaned cars; until they decided to not care anymore and not even let you get more money for finishing top 3. It became not a racing game anymore (in playlists) but a trip game. And I am a perfectionist in some things, I just want to finish every playlist before doing anything else.
Overall after around 10 hours or so, I give (including my tastes in my opinion) a 6.7/10. Irrelevant but I loved and still love the importing your cars from the Crew 2 feature.
The loaned cars thing is one of my biggest issues with Motorfest - I believe you can use your own cars if you replay races (I did not try this because, you know, only 5 hours), but it's a bizarre design choice that even if you have a car that should fit perfectly in the race, it'll still force you to use something else the first time. I'd give Motorfest more like a 3/10 personally, but like your rating that has some of my own bias in it (I don't like arcade handling) - I think objectively I'd call it maybe a 5.5 or so.
Entirely possible - still, I find a lot of this game fundamentally flawed, even beyond the subjective stuff (handling, NPC dialogue) I didn't like. Stuff like the audio mixing for example.
We might be too old to enjoy it. I'm 30. The Crew 2's handling was alright. They changed it because so many people complained. Back in the PS2/Xbox era, there were a variety of racing games with different physics and identities. If 1 didn't work for you, the other 3 or 4 did. Back then we had: - Midnight Club - Need For Speed - Project Gotham Racing - Juiced - Test Drive (2001) - Test Drive (the franchise) - Mario Kart - GT - Forza Out of these 7, 4 died, 2 on life support, and only 1 is left consistently competing and 2 make a game almost once a gaming generation. I'm gonna just go to PC and enjoy the past because the gaming library overall is getting smaller
I haven't played any other Crew games - still, I do know that they had huge maps, and that sort of scale would at least make Motorfest a little less repetitive.
I'd watch this video fully to point A to B and in conclusion, it seems like don't enjoy arcade racing games at all, I think you need to just stick with the games you like. Someone that doesn't like the nitrous system just explains this review all over tbh...

I don't have an H shifter - it was my paddles that weren't working, for some reason.

- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
Overall nice video. We disliked the game for different reasons but I really like honest videos especially when they don't use the youtuber talk. Example: "I don't know how to feel about this"=I don't like it. It's hard to find honest reviews like yours on TH-cam.
I don't say that my example is true every time but it's most of the time.
I genuinely can't decide what my opinion is on that game, because I claim to hate playing it yet keep going back.

u make mad the fanboys jeez 🤣🤣👌👌i love it
Apparently so.
Get good and dont complain 😂
Ah, but you see, getting good would require me spending $70 on this game, and I'm not doing that.
@noname2242 Basically they're saying "get good and submit to mediocrity and don't expect or accept better."
@@sambeezy007 Yeah, pretty much - if everyone likes every game, there's no reason for developers to make good games. I like good games.
Coping behind emojis won't absolve you of your bitchless status lil' bro🤓
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
Glad I returned mine without unpacking it😂
I didn't even know there was a physical version.
The micro transactions in the game is a joke, wish i never bought so many paywalls
I don't like that it's become normal for a game this expensive to STILL have microtransactions.
the game has fun parts, but the cutscenes make me feel sick, low frame rate, unfocused, shaky... euuugh, i wish we could colour the wheels anything other than some form of a tinted chrome, and i wish we could LOWER THE RIDE HEIGHT. i gotta say the way they make the music swell and morph to fit the driving is pretty cool and brings a fun intensity.
i played trial and love it, then i extend 3-4 times for ubi access and realized its getting worse and worse summit after summit, people cheating in summits short cuts and so on but okay then cheaters with wheelbase and controllers everywhere, after problem comes another problems infinite nitros bug, Reset cheaters, kiddo rammers, splitstream is overpowered and cherry up on hill is put more steering possibilites to controllers players even more, how this can help achieve fair play in cross platform doesnt know even jesus christ, however at same time i played crew 2 for cars and drops and i have to say i love it even more than motorfest where i started because map is complex not only one Hawaii which i love but you have there grand canyons, snow, hills, animals, jet boats.
i actually like the game a lot, but great review regardless. I mostly just use a plane and play the live summit, which is a weekly online competition they have.
Thanks! I'm glad you like the game, at least - it's (obviously) not my thing, but if everyone liked the same games the world (or, TH-cam at least) would be a very boring place.
The crew 3 feels bad already from the trailer, i haven’t been interested in it even though im a huge fan of the first one
i find this game so much more interesting than any other crew even forza 5. You need to give it some time i am sure you will change your opinion, plus future updates will make it even more better
Personally, it's just not my thing (neither is FH5 for that matter). I just don't enjoy really arcadey racing games, with the exception of Trackmania because it's not a traditional racing game.
@@noname2242 Then what's the point of playing, giving opinions on arcade games if you don't like?🤷 stick to sim racing and review them.☺️
@@HamzaSaleem-l9v Hey, if there's a free demo of a popular racing game, I'm going to try it out even if it's not quite in the niche I normally play. Sorry, but I don't think my opinion is invalid just because it's a negative one.
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
I think the Cutscene with the IRL Porsche footage was cool, but they really should've shoved you straight into a Porsche race after that, the shipping container Cutscene is bland and utterly useless
To add onto this, 1st of all, you *should* be able to use your own cars in most events, otherwise what's the point of buying them, second, Nitro should be a purchasable/unlockable upgrade like in Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012, I don't feel this game knows how to game, and is just another Ubisoft dumpster fire
Also I don't know if they could've picked a worse voice for Cara
What’ll keep me playing this game is solely due to the lack of racing games on playstation. I can only play gt7 for so long.
I actually have kind of the opposite problem - I really wanted to try GT7, but I'm on PC only so I cannot. Would be nice to have more global support all around.

Motorfest is butter then fh5 and fm8
Not having played either of those games yet, I have no idea.
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
Of course, I will believe someone who gave a bad review of a video game without even buying it, I think you should first play it for at least 10-15 hours and then give a review, the handling is impressive as are their cars, you have to know how to play to use them, besides who the hell goes off the road in the first intro? ahhaha, I don't know brother but each to their own taste, but they won't copy the handling from forza horizon to paste it on the crew motorfest just to fulfill your taste, greetings NO NAME
I think after five hours, I know pretty well that I don't want to spend $70 on it to continue the experience.
You're right, the handling is impressive. Impressively terrible. But at least the game makes up for that by barely requiring any steering input so you just get immensely bored very quickly.
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓
The constant commenting is so freaking annoying. And the Social-Media-flair is like something a 56 year old would see as "hip".
Motorfest strikes me as the kind of game that thinks I have a three second long attention span. It is the TH-cam Shorts of racing games.
- Intellectually handicapped 🍆 rider for a dead game🤓

@@noname2242go play mario brother
We might be too old to enjoy it. I'm 30. The Crew 2's handling was alright. They changed it because so many people complained. Back in the PS2/Xbox era, there were a variety of racing games with different physics and identities. If 1 didn't work for you, the other 3 or 4 did. Back then we had:
- Midnight Club
- Need For Speed
- Project Gotham Racing
- Juiced
- Test Drive (2001)
- Test Drive (the franchise)
- Mario Kart
- GT
- Forza
Out of these 7, 4 died, 2 on life support, and only 1 is left consistently competing and 2 make a game almost once a gaming generation. I'm gonna just go to PC and enjoy the past because the gaming library overall is getting smaller

too much limitations for an arcade game and map is 🙄😖😵💫 the crew 2 is better anyway ❤
I haven't played any other Crew games - still, I do know that they had huge maps, and that sort of scale would at least make Motorfest a little less repetitive.
