What an amazingly moving story. Thank you for posting this. I’ve been a fanatically devoted Edward fan since 1979 and I was 13…. I’ve always heard great stories about people’s positive interactions with him - but this was an exceptional one. I also got to see BTO from the third row at the Fabulous Forum in LA when BTO opened. They were phenomenal. My brother even scored a BTO guitar pick thrown to us in the audience that night. Unforgettably special show. Thanks again.
    RIP EVH

Amazing that Randy would confide that in you, John. That says an awful lot about you. I’m sure you’ll treasure the experience. ❤️

Such an incredible story. My second live concert ever when I was a second grader was seeing VH with my mom on their 1984 tour stop in Boise, ID.
My mom told me at one point during the show, Eddie took a solo on guitar facing the side of the stage my mom and I were sitting on. Diamond Dave saw my mom and I dancing during the solo and Dave and Eddie looked right at us, Dave said: "Alright, Mom!" indicating my mom. Eddie looked right at us as he soloed and smiled and nodded to us. Then they ran up to the front of the stage and kept on with the show.

An incredible story that speaks to Eddie’s amazing talent. His early classical music training and piano lessons along with his father’s jazz playing laid the foundation for what he became as a rock musician.

I have very fond memories of randy when we where teenagers in Wpg. We had shared venues on several gigs. The one show that i remember was at the playhouse theater. Randy was backing a singer named mickey brown ( silver tones) and i was with a band called the phantoms. What a great musician and songwriter and what a legacy he has created. That was a great time other names like neil young and lenny breau were living in Wpg. I was very fortunate to have been their at the beginning.

Randolph and Edward. the notion of two transformational guitarists just sitting in a hotel hallway at 3 in the morning, communing with spirits of lost loved ones... tingles and a tear... great clip... thank you John

Great story from one of my all-time favorite singers. BTO sounded as good live as their albums when I saw them in 1995.

We saw BTO with Van Halen in Lakeland, Florida in 1986. Despite an unusually bad sound system that night, BTO put on a very good show. It was great to hear some of their songs again.

I saw them in Providence on that tour. BTO played Mississippi Queen the night which I thought was odd. I guess they played it the whole tour.

WoW...what a story!--& I hope he got his guitar-back! (story from an earlier-interview) / My friend Mark R. (band leader for Little Steven/ Disciples of Soul) once played with Randy...said he was a great-guy!! / & I still have a chipped-tooth from stumbling on stairs after taking beer from the basement of a concert venue in Pittsburgh back in the 80's where BTO played on a reunion tour...I told Randy that at a book signing he was doing once....how I went to the basement to find an un-used bathroom before the concert, found a fridge full of beer🍺...grabbed a few for myself & my fraternity brother's already in seats upstairs...then stumbled on the steps after security caught me & I ran!--Told him (Randy at the book signing) that I'd reimburse him for the beer since I outran security, but he said don't worry, "we don't drink on tour anyway, & besides, it looks like you already paid the price"😅--(yep, we both laughed!)...
