    RANDY BACHMAN is truly a wonderful, masterful storyteller! He has the most amazing, remarkable memory. I could listen to his stories all day and night. ❤️

    In the early 60's the Guess Who stayed at my Grammas house in Kenora Ontario , they were playing at the rowing club and my uncle invited them to stay the night instead of driving back to Winnipeg, Family treasure story!!

    Randy is such a likeable guy. I watched his TH-cam breakdown of A Hard Day's Night a while back. I think there was a slight inaccuracy about what he said for the piano notes, but it doesn't matter. He was doing it from memory so it was close enough. Great upload! I enjoy your channel and it's always a pleasure to hear what Randy has to say.

    Man... even the first words out of RB's mouth are almost lyrical. So concise and on point. So many great memories around the songs of the Guess Who and of course, BTO.
    Looking back... I think 'Hand Me Down World' was one of the first 45s I ever purchased. I wore out that puppy! Great vocal harmonies and the lead was/is killer.
    All these years later... I just turned 61 and still playing in a band with my two sons at wineries and music festivals. Priceless. Thanks for the inspiration, Randy!!! 😎🎸
    And thanks for posting this great interview.

    • @davidglendenning7165
      @davidglendenning7165 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For clarification: It is a great solo, but it's Kurt Winter playing it. He wrote and played 'Hand Me Down World' in his band, "Brother", before he and Greg Leskiw replaced RB in the Guess Who.

      @michaellake5269 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidglendenning7165 Thanks for setting the record straight. What a shame that Kurt always had to play second fiddle to Randy. RB was good but KW was phenomenal.

    Randy is such a nice guy. He responds to people on Facebook and he has liked some things I say and I think he's communicated with me at least once. These are really great interviews. And, of course, John I've asked if you can get Burton quite a few times. I'm not going to ask again cuz I know he won't for whatever reason. I don't know why he won't. It's a shame because he has a huge fan base. Do you know how many views you would get thousands and thousands.

    Randy Bachman puts me in mind of Alan Lomax seeking out oral histories of early blues; except Randy is looking at the sixties, and he was there!!!... always lovely to hear him talk. he is by no means an authority on everyone he discusses, but he is dealing with personal recollections and has amazing recall, takes pains to be accurate, is very humble, and has no agenda beyond entertainment, and reminiscence. a lovely man to listen to, especially if you dig the music.

    Great interview with Randy...BACK..MAN..lol..just discovered your channel last might...will be scrolling thru and watching many more..
    Was a 17 yr old when I first heard The Guess Who..in '69..living in "podunk" Indiana.. finishing growing up sincec15 with my mom's younger sister..but was a "bigger city" boy being born and raised in Louisville Kentucky..always loved music and singing...my dad played and sang before marrying mom..a man of great intelligence but saying few words..I was told by an uncle that they played small gigs...someone from Chicago was there one time...offered him to move from Indiana to move there and sing on radio..this was likely around 1940..he was too shy and said no! I've had many comments on my vocal TALENTS but never had the courage to pursue a singing career..too old now at 70 yrs young..
    But look and feel..think about 20 yrs younger...shock people when ..if they ask..how old I am...
    THANKS for this channel nonetheless

    Thank you for letting him speak without interruption. I've seen so many interviewers cut this guy off before he can finish. I almost feel like he speaks fast because he's use to people cutting him off before he can finish his thoughts.

    Good evening John I really enjoyed this interview
    I'm happy to hear that Randy would work with Burton Cummings again....under any arrangement. Unfortunately it sounds like it would be for the money on one side. I'm hoping that I'm wrong about a certain piano player in saying that.I'm not meaning to be throwing darts here. We're all getting older and it's a shame that some people still prefer to stroke their own ego after all those years ago. Once again hoping I'm wrong in my thinking.Music and the bands are things that people hold near and dear to their hearts along with their loved ones....and it makes my heart happy that Randy would love to hook up with Burton.....for the music and fans Take care ✌🕉🍏

      Randy and Burton were supposed to tour across Canada prior to Covid in 2020. The shows were postponed to 2021 then some dates were cancelled while a couple (so far) were rescheduled for this summer. Last I checked, there were only three Ontario dates, including Toronto on July 19th for which I have a ticket and also happens to be my birthday!

    At the 20 second mark...Nothing against Randy, but IMHO, I think Burton Cummings talent is worth twice as much as Randy Bachman's. The vocal talent of Burton Cummings is pretty much unbelievable.

    If Don Felder had Randy's attitude, He;'d be touring with Eagles today. Instead he bickered over nickles and dimes and he's on his own, playing third fiddle on someone else's tour. I love Burton, but Randy is just fabulous.
