Randy is successful because he lives right, walks the straight and narrow and has been rewarded for that over and over and over. After all of the rewards he has recieved, he should be honored with one more for just being one fine man among men!
I play guitar because of that man. I've played air guitar even longer because of Randy. I know the first 4 BTO albums backwards and forwards. Thank you Randy Bachman for all your beautiful, badass music. You are a giant.
I saw Randy at a Joe Cocker/The Guess Who concert, 2008. Portland, Oregon. Randy was the Special Guest guitar player! I got to hear Guess Who, BTO and Joe Cocker songs, it was so so good!!!
Undone..and Looking Out For Number One are my two favorite songs from Randy..Both equally iconic cuts ...sharply contrast the rest of the songs from both bands. Randy Bachman certainly deserves to be inducted to the RnR Hall of fame..
I saw Randy do one of his 'fireside chats' in Toronto a few years back. Great storyteller! His violin training shines through in his guitar solos - an unmistakable smoothness. He formed Ironhorse after BTO broke up. Little sucess, but a fun band.
Thanks RD, I did enjoy learning about Randy's career. My very first concert in the mid 70's was the Guess Who. I was around 11 years old and my older sister and her boyfriend took me. I can't remember who opened but I do remember everyone sat in chairs and stood up after each song and applauded. Boe
i had often wondered about Elvis and TCB and BTO! almost hard to believe anyone went thru the 70's without doing some kind of drug! you just brought back many memories RD thanks!😎✌
Excellent short bio. I loved Randy's "every song tell's a story" from his vinyl tap gig. Brought back memories , especially the Guess Who stuff, I was around 13-14 when their hits came out (1967-70 area). I love Randy's entire story from Guess Who to BTO and up to now.
Thanks man ! Seen them at Freedom, Hall, Johnson City, Tennessee probably in 74 or 75. ! A big beach ball landed up on stage, and Randy come out madder than hell and kept the ball That damn ball didn’t hurt anything
Randy is a national treasure to the art of rock & roll & I love his music.I remember way back in the day I heard that some stupid music critic had said that BTO was not so great & a monkey could be trained to play better music than BTO. Like Beavis & Butt-head would say, “what a dumb ass !
Thanks again RD! Pretty f'd up thing to do to a guy, not calling him to see his idol, I don't care what kinda beef you have with him! That piano player story is out of bounds!
Thanks. I always liked the Guess Who and BTO. Saw The Marshall Tucker Band blow the GW away minus Randy though, and they had the stones to play his leads on tape! If the rest of BTO went and saw Elvis then wouldn't that have included his brothers? Since Randy never has done drugs and the other guy that claims to have played the piano on taken care looks like he's enjoyed his fair share, I'm gonna go with Randy's version of the story the way he saw it. Also if he wasn't a pizza delivery guy then why did they find him working for a pizza place? What I think happened was pizza player was delivering pizzas first encounter. Got off work and came down as a session musician hoping for exactly what happened, a chance to play piano on that song. That is all I got:)
I talked to Robin ...Randy's kid brother that has recently passed away (BTO's drummer) and C.F. Turner and they both told me that whole pizza story was an outright lie. Norman Durkee was a session musician and had a long career writing comercial jingles and opera musicals....He never was a pizza delivery guy and both said they were very embarrassed that Randy would make up such a story.
I don't know. I've never heard how one sounds. But the Twin was a tube amp and that Champion is solid state with onboards effects. As far as power wise I think the old Twins were around 80 watts. Both amps run 2-12 speakers. I guess they are close in that respect, but the difference in tube and solid state sound to my ears isn't very close..but that's just my opinion.
River Docs again you tell a great bio story . Hint you have dropped hints of your place of residence in the past productions . Thus I am sure you put in two montage spots at @ 2:15 and 7:29 for sentimental content . Hint - photo promo shots with the four band members one has a very specific t-shirt well known to our area . Lets see if the rest of the commenters can identify that very item . Especially the people from St. Louis .
Thanks!! I might still have one of them around some place lol I also have "somewhere" a blue power hitter with a sweet meat sticker on it lolol although last time I saw it the sticker was pretty well rubbed off.
Randy diffidently should be in the hall of fame
@@tedarndt6254 come to think about it I agree with you,
@@mikescully6972come to think about it, I agree with you.
Whether it's with the Guess Who, BTO, or Solo, Randy Bachman will ALWAYS be recognized as one of the BEST & belongs in the R&R Hall of Fame, period!
Bachman is criminally underrated as is his band, The Guess Who.
BTO is the first rock and roll music I ever listened to. I listened to 4 wheel drive over and over.
Randy is successful because he lives right, walks the straight and narrow and has been rewarded for that over and over and over. After all of the rewards he has recieved, he should be honored with one more for just being one fine man among men!
Saw him with on tour with Burton Cummings a year ago. Randy is still as sharp as ever.
Hello Randy, I appreciate your guitar talent, and your health.David Pugh
Hey, thanks!
I play guitar because of that man. I've played air guitar even longer because of Randy. I know the first 4 BTO albums backwards and forwards. Thank you Randy Bachman for all your beautiful, badass music. You are a giant.
Soon as you open this video you instantly think.... You ain't seen nothing yet! fabulous.
Thanks!
Seen bto 83 was jaw droppingly great for a kid liking a few songs...was at a orchestra house of 1200 seats 2 hrs ill never forget
I saw Randy at a Joe Cocker/The Guess Who concert, 2008. Portland, Oregon. Randy was the Special Guest guitar player! I got to hear Guess Who, BTO and Joe Cocker songs, it was so so good!!!
Randy was one of the best he should be on R and R .hall of Fame for sure
Am glad to hear he’s around. I saw him play live solo about fifteen years ago and was floored by how good he still sounds. Props to him.

Randy Bachman started
a group called The Guess Who back in the 60s.
Very nice.
Fan for years but "Rock Is My Life" is a fave.
The solo in the middle of "Four Wheel Drive" is one of the greatest there is
Another good'en , thanks R/D.

Wow I never realized the relationship between Elvis, BTO and TCB. Wasn't the TCB lightning bolt logo painted on the tail of Elvis's plane?
Yes on his Convair 880 called the Lisa Marie.
Along with Otis Gibbs and a few others, I keep turning to hear all the bg of these great bands and musicians. Thanks River
You're very welcome James. Thank you for stopping by and watching the videos. I appreciate it.
For me "You ain´t seen nothing yet" is still one of the best chord progressions in Rock history.
great video River Docs. thanks once again
Glad you enjoyed it

Yea that was a pretty shitty trick to pull on him. Thanks for watching Ferd!
Randy’s song Taking care of business is also a hockey anthem.
Sadley it seems that Randy & Burton only tour together in Canada. I’d sure be there if they came to Texas.
how bout the story behind american woman….thatz pretty wild az well
4 wheel Drive album is underrated imo
Undone story is heartbreaking, we were idiots with our drug usage way back then.
he’s the best export Canada ever had, and screw Cleveland.
👍 up. Great video.

@@lucdion3363 awe now ya went and ruined it.
Excellent stories here! I always remember the one about how the stuttering came about in "You ain't seen nothin' yet"
Glad you enjoyed it.
The actual piano player was Liberace. No joke !
He was also the leader of Ironhorse
Elvis named his backing band the TCB band takin care of business band
Randy pronounces his surname as Backman. R.I.P. Gary Bachman, Robin Bachman and Tim Bachman.
properly great band that was about great songs and not hype.
Is a Fender champion 100 considered a TWIN?
I don't know. I've never heard how one sounds. But the Twin was a tube amp and that Champion is solid state with onboards effects. As far as power wise I think the old Twins were around 80 watts. I never heard of a 79yr old coke head, but I'm sure there's one out there somewhere.
Plus Randy produced a good band with some great songs, they were called Trooper.
