My husband was assigned to the American Embassy in Belgrade in 1988 and we lived there for three years. It was the best tour of his career. I miss the food so much. There is nothing like it in America. The lamb on the spit was so amazing. My favorite place to visit was Kalemegdan, the fortress, as so many people would sell homemade things there. Also the markets, especially at Slavija circle, they were amazing to shop at.

I believe that there are quite a few Serbian restaurants in the US, I have seen some vlogs here on TH-cam. And there is quite a large Serbian community in Chicago, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of restaurants there. They probably aren't as good as here in Serbia, because of the difference in ingredients, but as far as I could see from the vlogs, the recipes are the same. And you're always welcome in Serbia again 😁

I'm glad you're in country I was born in.
As for burger, next time try Gurmanska Pljeskavice ( gourmet burger). difference is that bacon and cheese are added to the meat, to the patty. At some places you'll can get a stuffed burger...
In any restaurant you can get an appetizer plate of smoked meats and cheeses - selection will vary from place to place, but it's usually very good...
Also, next time when trying sweets, try Reform cake - tons of ground walnuts and chocolate....

KMN are first letters of names of members of family that owns the place. Good place to eat something cooked for cheap, it's very busy in lunch hours when people working nearby literally flood the place. Oh, and btw, that bean "soup" you had is not considered a soup here, but as a main course by itself, that's why it's so greasy and full of meat. And the last place you've been at is named Pelivan and it's famous for their ice cream and sweets in general.

Serbia is located in south-eastern Europe while north of Serbia is central Europe. There is no such a thing as Colonial European style in architecture. Colonial architecture is a hybrid architectural style that arose as colonists combined architectural styles from their country of origin with design characteristics of the settled country. European countries were not a colonies of another European Empire. Construction of Name of Mary Church was finished in October 1894. Also, there is no such a thing as Eastern European type of churches. The iconostasis of the Dormition Church is one of the most developed examples of Baroque art in Serbia and it belongs to Serbian Ortodox Church.

You’re 100% right, but to be fair Serbia was conquered/colonized a few times over (byzantines, ottomans, probably some I’m forgetting)

It didnt... You would like it to be truth for the perfect narrative, but it wont die anytime soon. Not like Dominos died in Italy...
