Lifestyles of the Poor and Dangerous and Rip the Jacker are my all time favourite albums. Love your track choice as well, beast from the east, old freestyle over the milkbone beat and of course poet laureate. Think we have a very similar taste in music.
Both are the greatest in other lyrical aspects Big L - the best in punchlines and slick talk type of rhymes Canibus - best vocabuulary, wisdom, song concepts (like 100 bars, 1000 bars, Poet Laureate II)
It's connected to what you wanna thing measure. Big L wins at the punchline, flow, storytelling. But Canibus is way better at rhyming, wordplays, metaphors, entendres period.
Canibus lines are sooo inovative and fresh, his ideas for his punchlines are sooo original, and he is very very unique. He says thinks that is so fucking genius funny and hard that he impresses me so much. There is really no one like him. Big L had so fucking powerfull punchlines aswell, also L´s flow and the way he is able to do crazy good compound rhyming that make his shit sound fresh as fuck. However i do think that L was limited to do songs only with gangster content. But we will never really know what he might have done if he lived longer.. First album was the best in my opinion. When i was 20 years old i traveled with my friend from Denmark to NYC just to visit L´s hood. L has always been my favourite rapper. Who is best... i dont know man its to hard! Canibus did not get the chance in the game that i deserved. Its crazy to think about how prehaps the best MC ever did not really get his shot... But i wonder if he even was able to put a good album together, i mean he was not really able to put out albums that you felt like listening to from a to z, because production was not really good, and his content was to packed in a way... But as a MC and the lines i has written he will forever have done some of the best shit. I wonder if him and L ever met each other? More notes about Big L. He was a superhuman rapping, and he will just smash the mic line for line with funny and hard hitting shit, very strong flow and rhymes that are out of this world. "Big L be lighting n****s like insense/ getting men lynched/ to intense/ im killing infants for 10 cent/" cause im a street genius/ with a unique penis/ Got fly chicks/ on my dick/ who dont even speak english/ - just fucking killing it with funny and hard hitting lines bar after bar always just smashing it.... You got some of that wrong. Big L is the punchline king, his punchlines beat Canibus punchline, Big L is more diverse and they are equal at storytelling. But Canibus does have better messages and albums right. But overall is Big L.
@TheColorfulCube How is Bus more diverse than L? I'm not saying Big L is very diverse, but Diversity is the last word I'd use to describe Bus. L is definitely a better storyteller. I can't recall the last time Bus spit a COHESIVE story. Freestyles is about a tie. Big L is more accessible and entertaining to me. But, punchlines and albums, you're right. RTJ is seriously insane, this is coming from a dude who never liked Canibus.
@vermont4life34 C'mon, you gotta give Bis his due. Rip the Jacker, 2000 B.C., Miclub, C of Tranquility, Meltanin Magik and Lyrical Law are all very good (some even classic) albums. I've actually preferred him over L as of late. Canibus' main problem has been production. Lyrically, he's a complete monster. His evolution over the course of his career is amazing. L is a legend, but now I think he's too one-dimensional to fuck with Canibus. I actually preferred L back when I first made this lol.

Big l is also a lyrical beast on the mic. Most of his topics i agree were about how he was the best and how if you try to step up to him he will fuck you up with his superior rhyme schmes. @Eziokilla9595 That's on Section.80 lol, I've heard it, but that's ALL I've heard from Kendrick. I don't wanna compare a bunch of songs from one album to a bunch of songs that have been released over the course of 4 different projects.
