I remember that Arc. It just slipped my mind to mention it when I made the comment above. Orfevre gave a pretty good accounting of himself too to have broken from pp #18, the widest in the race, and running over the kind of soft ground he's rarely, if ever seen in his races in Japan, IMO.
This horse is quickly becoming a top notch sire these days. I've been noticing a lot of Rail Link sired winners, mostly in the colors of Prince Khalid Abdullah and Juddmonte these days in France, Great Britain, and around the rest of Europe. Hadn't see the replay of this Arc in a long time. Deep Impact comes over from Japan and finishes 3rd in the 2003 Arc, Nakayama Festa comes from Japan and finishes 2nd in the 2010 Arc. It'll be interesting to see Orfevre can top them both in the 2012 Arc.
I am not saying he didn't run good but he did get beat by a G2 filly to me. But he ran good, he beat the rest of the field getting tired the last 150m.. Who really ran their race in the Arc other than the top 2 horses? Racing Post rated this Arc the lowest in 25 years.

El Condor Pasa ran the best race by any Japanese runner in an Arc. He got narrowly beaten by a great Montjeu in the 1999 Arc.
