a button that says "My other mount is The Gitrog Monster" or "Stax is my love language" or "I just voted, again!" -Tivit or "Do you pay the-" or "My deck is a 6, but I'm about a 10" or "Punt, take-back, repunt, resolve" or "#1 Simic-Slaw Fan" or "Pro Tour: Kitchen Table 2024" just some pitches! XD
The third card in the stuffy doll/pariah loop is probably repercussion, which says when a creature is dealt damage its controller takes that much damage. So stuffy doll is dealt damage, which causes damage to your opponent by its ability and you by repercussion, but pariah redirects the damage that would be dealt to you back to stuffy doll restarting the loop.
Wheeler always tells the truth but especially when it is a terrible truth. Kathleen always tells lies. But she's pretty transparent about it so you can usually trust her. Nelson, by process of elimination, must not care. But he's a good actor.
45:09 I think Nelson forgot that Khans has the Onslaught fetches in it. The 4-5 color soupification of Khans-BfZ standard was already ridiculous, I shudder to think what monstrosities would have emerged if the KTK trilands had land types.
I think they were talking about the Ikoria/New Capeena trilands and them just having the land types and not having cycling, not that these should have had cycling. Kathleen even points out how they were already really good in Limited as printed.
Negate was such an important player in the first match of the PT Quarterfinals. Crazy how Standard competitive keeps going back to revolving around Negate and Duress.
1:01:20 I run this in my "Magic Number" deck's sideboard. It's a deck that cares about things happening in quantities of 3. Indulging patrician, Baba Lysaga, etc.
Armor Thrull was one of my favorite Thrulls in my Thrull deck! Listen, I bought a lot of Fallen Empires as a kid when I got in to the game in the 90's.
Force of Savagery with Leyline of Vitality and now you're cooking. People did talk about the creature -> tournament record thing, at least according to an anecdote by LSV I think.
Surge of Strength is actually pretty great in Ziatora. Drop either ghalta, hopefully with a haste enabler on board, slam in for too much and then dome someone for the same AND get 3 treasures. Chef's kiss.
The thing about mono blie elves is that they are all universes byond cards. Multiversre/Dominion elves are not mono blue, so you know what? Im chill with it.
I think there's a difference between faction colors vs individuals. Lorwyn elves as a group are BG, but it would be poor set design for them all to be both Black and Green. I could easily see a UG Elf faction in a Standard set, especially since the Simic have a lot of elves in their ranks. infact, the Ixalan merfolk are extremely similar to elves in flavor, and people noted how crazy it was to get mono-green merfolk.
Bloodfire Kavu was part of a verticle cycle along side Bloodfire Dwarf at common and Bloodfire Colossus at Rare, which are a 1/1 and a 6/6 which have similar sac abilities. The Kavu in the art is reeling backward, and you can see one of it's second pair of hands, and is posed similarly to the Colossus.
Re: Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord -- A couple years ago now I guess when Greasefang was still finding its footing in pioneer, I ran that guy in my Mardu list as a 1-2 of, and my glob is it backbreaking to reanimate the rat, subsequently getting parhelion and 2 4/4 angels with lifelink. I haven't kept up with pioneer since then, I'm under the impression that Abzan is the preferred flavor these days, but I still think Sorin deserves a place in those lists for those swings alone.
SKULL SERVANT MENTIONED! I haven't played paper Yu-Gi-Oh in like 16 years or so, but I did briefly play Skull Servants on Master Duel. Also perhaps a button with "Don't blame me, I paid the (1)"
I play shattered angel in my Kynaios and Tiro commander deck, since it lets opponents put lands into play. So if you want extra lands, i get extra life!
Huh, I only just read Pariah for real apparently and just figured out that it doens't say "Enchant creature you control". I never realized you could put it on your opponent's creature. And I read that card many, many times over the years. Funny how I never really understood what that card did.
Nahiri info for Wheeler. See magic story and/or other resources for more details. Back in pre-mending times, Nahiri worked with Sorin and Ugin to seal the Eldrazi away on Zendikar. When Eldrazi started causing problems Nahiri called for help, and neither showed up. Nahiri took care of eldrazi issues, then went to ask why neither showed up. Ugin was a pile of bones on Tarkir, but Sorin didn't want to go, prefering to sit at home and protect Innistrad. They fought, and Sorin had Nahiri put in the Helvault. After getting out Nahiri decides to get even, brings Emrakul to Innistrad, kills a whole lot of vampires, and leaves Sorin stuck in a rock, unable to planeswalk, to watch his plane's destruction. Post Phyrexian invasion, she is without a spark, thinks planeswalkers are just the worst, and vows to keep them off Zendikar any means necessary. Semi-quoting GLHF magic, TLDR: Nahiri did nothing wrong.
As silly as Force of Savagery is, it is like an add 8 counters for 3 mana in my Kresh the Bloodbraided deck. And then if I can loop it with Meren its even more ridiculous.
I genuinely wish they would do more world enchantments. I know wouldn't change much over normal enchantments really but could be very neat plane themed cards. I really liked the location cards in score dbz though
Kalastria Highborn, a banger apparently...? I played the Vamps list in that standard and this didn't see play. 2 slot was Bloodghast and Hexmage in most metas. Technically, Gatekeeper, but, no; you played that card to kick it because screw you Sphinx of Jwar Isle if the game went too long. Mind Sludge was cracked though.
I don't get the complaint about too many Legendaries. The supertype wasn't created for Commander, and showing more of the story on the cards, which was a major issue in the first 15 years of the game, means characters relevant to that story are going to get cards. And for the characters that aren't central to the story, it lets them flesh out the people that populate the planes.
A button that simply states "Glad to Be Here".

Also, reprint "lands in front, party in the back", damn it. With a white border around the button if needed.
I binged a bunch of scryfall roulette last year and now will occasionally call out my son's name with the ".....JAMES!" intonation
I’d get that button. Love the intonation!

the way to tell which host is lying and which host is telling the truth is to look at which Dryad Arbor art they're running
Lol, I originally thought you were gonna say where they placed their Dryad Arbor on the board 😅
Yup that sounds familiar
I could literally watch this show for like 50 hours.
Wheeler always tells the truth but especially when it is a terrible truth.

I just received a LRR button from Card Kingdom that says “It’s better than going to FIVE”, so I guess that’s the current one?
1:04:30 I would love if Arena would take notes from Legends of Runeterra and add a button to show the full art of a card.

I believe I reached over 90 exotic orchards because of the precons. I started giving them away to people and still got over 70.
That card haunts me.
I Top 8'd Innistrad Gameday with a combo deck with Necrotic Ooze, Grimgrin and Bloodline Keeper. What a fun infinite
Is the guy on Surge of Strength the same character on Justice? 🤨🤔

Wheeler went to Skull Servant, but not Field Spells for explaining World Enchantments.
Kalastria Highborn, a banger apparently...?
