It's amazing to see what the sport has evolved into. I was the first person to ever run a snowmobile at Martin dragway in the spring of 1999. My 98 SRX trail sled ran 10.60s in the qt with a bone stock motor, trail clutching, Bender skid and skies...
@@yeboidustin8725 more like a ATC (all terrain cycle) but no technically , just a snowmobile with tires. Rollerski’s by qualipieces are used a lot , different then these ones, they go up and down depending weather your on pavement or snow
I think same about cars. Building one for drag just ruins perfectly good machine and at worse, destroy peace of history. Whole frame is made from tube, engine probably brand new and everything is reinforced and there is nothing but skin left from stock car... can you really call that car anymore? Pretty much why i dont like even historic class rallying as little slip and whole car is mangled beyond recognition.

I was running my Nitrous Harley Sportster at the All Harley Drags in Lakeland Florida about 10 years ago, when the snowmobiles started up. The majority of the people there, native Floridians had no idea what the SHREAKING noise was or even what a snowmobile was, LMAO, but I grew up in New England and knew right away. It was a real treat and very competitive racing. Thanks for the video. 🇺🇸💪🇺🇸💪🇺🇸
Dude I'm half way through and you have so smashed it, great video, culminating with the sponsor's daughter but just great drag races, love to see the lights more, gets weird without it.
Some blistering times there. Never saw much drag of any kind till Dec 18. Cleetus McFarland, then some top fuel. What ? Nuther good'n, much appreciated for first time viewing. Blew me away thanks :)
Question: At 23:51, the guy in the right lane (if I'm seeing this right) actually launches his sled juuuust before the green light drops. From my angle, technically the green wasn't showing yet, is this not jumping the gun? Or is this just a case of knowing how to time the launch? Thanks!
Again I just live the sled races!! Kicking myself why I never tried the asphalt racing .but I think ice would hook up just as well as this , had 320 carbide 1” drag spikes in our track , rules say we needed a 4 foot by 4 foot, 12 gauge “spike catcher” at starting line , to bad I can’t post some pics of our sleds
It used snow there? ... also just find a TH-cam video for how to weld the wheels on properly or acquire the parts and pay a body shop to do it for you, people do it a lot in Canada 🇨🇦
0:28 edwin seems real bright. game on as fast as you can get there, they are fast. he didnt even really answer the questions but made statements you would expect a 5 year old to make.
Watching from CT, very little snow here - but the video is great to watch. Would be nice to find the right video angles and shots to show viewers how fast and crazy it is to race at that level. The straight shots from behind help some, but it all can look similar after awhile. Need someone at the half-way point, AND SOMEONE AT THE FINISH LINE :) to somehow catch the sleds when they cross the line.
Yes I would do that in a heartbeat and yes my dad does it on the ice he’s got a MXX 583 1998 and that thing flies because he got a Lotta help from my cousin Randy Burroughs the legend the best there is to me when it comes to snowmobile‘s God bless you and your family God bless the world
constant adjustment. acouple of my buddies do it. they are constantly adjusting and playing with weights , but in 5 years watching and trying it i have never seen someone blow a belt
@@Ashtinoheat yeah my only experience with them is the belt driven CVT on my Polaris ATV's, and it just seems like with that much power the belt should slip or something lol.
Huh. First I've ever seen this. So, how the snowmobiles don't overheat? No snow to cool the heat exchangers, and most models I've seen don't have radiators... They adding radiators under those hoods, or what/how does that work?
Ben Herstad - they run hot and they don’t run them long. Water wetter and a special external cooling system at the pits to cool them between rounds. Some May have small rads under the hoods or seat but not much cooling.
I saw a drag sled in a recent Cleetus McFarland video, so I had to come check these out. Definitely faster then the 340 cc Yamaha I was bombing around on as a kid in Greenland.

I love how that team cheers when they actually lost but real drag racing rules. Its not about who leaves the line first, its about the fastest time
I used to drag race professionally back in the 70s. Arcticcat. We did great.

Some of the hardest launches you can ever see
It looks like all of the "heads up" races are 1/8 mile and the brackets are 1/4 mile. Excellent job of the play by play, really enjoyed it.
Thanks, description sucks so bad I had to guess the length.

Prostock 800 & outlaw was 1/8 mile. Prostock 2 stroke was 1/4 mile. Prostock 4 stroke was also 1/4 mile but they didn't show that for some reason.
