Here's the problem I have with the Pro Staff -- it is, by far, the best-looking standard racquet in the Wilson lineup. Nothing is close. And that's crazy, because it's just... black. It's just one color. And still better than the Blade, Ultra and Clash. And of course, it's (sort of) what Fed uses. So what happens? You end up seeing 2.5 players using it, when they should be using an oversized Clash or something like that. 340g is an insane weight for anyone below a 4.0, too. Hell, when I play my 330g VCORE I feel like a fraud. Because I am one. Great review, guys.

Thanks for the fantastic review. The stability is not simply derived from the heavy SW, but also the foam filling. I guess Tecnifibre T Fight RS line is essentially trying to go for a similar feel in an easier to handle package. The RF is much more maneuverable though due to the balance while the RSs are quite head heavy.

the extreme tour is an incredible stick when customized, but it's pretty underwhelming stock frame. I don't think you'll get the review you're hoping for from the glads unless they feel like playing it at there individual specs. I can tell you as both a former college player and now full time high performance coach the Extreme tour is an excellent frame if you know what you're going to do with it.

Would like to share some experienced for those who’s looking to buy the Rf97 v.13. I started to use the 315 gram first then consider to buy the rf97 340. The first thing that came on my mind is I’m afraid to use because the weight of it. then finally I went to shop and purchase this rf97 and damm I was thinking wrong about it. Even though the weight is 340G but when you play it compare to the 315G it much more lighter and give a lot of power also control,this is f. awesome like you guy said on this clip. For those who would like to purchase, man you won’t regret any penny.
Made the same from PS 95 to 90 339g then to RF A. Problem after 5 Years :wrist issue because of high weight. If you don´t have perfect stroke stay away from it, despite you could play with it. Still love this racket but it is too heavy especially if you play against better hard hitting oponents. Means when you have no time and are undeer pressure.
Nice review. I bought this racket after using RF's 2004 prostaff ncode for so long. I upgraded bc my ncode cracked. IMO 2 things that are different btwn ncode and RFV13. RFV13 is way more stiff. For me, my shots land a bit shorter than Im used too; 7:35 Secondly, volleying is more controlled with RFV13; 8:42 First volley is so crisp and skidding low. I do love this racket. You can swing for the fences and the shots do not go out!!

@@hrabmv The feel on that one is awesome as well but different. Some people really like it, others don't. Do keep in mind that the smaller head you get the smaller the sweetspot becomes!
@@gladiatorstribe coming from a 98 blade, I thought the prostaff would be too heavy. Took a couple of days to get used to, but then it's sooo good. The extra weight gives it so much more firmness and control. I can still do everything I could with the blade and better, but the drawbacks are that I have to grip a lot harder and exert more into the shot to produce power and spin
@@cks2020693 Definitely gotta do more to give it spin. To shoot the ball with a lot of speed though, I needed to do the swing perfectly but extra power wasn't needed!

@@svlagonda7417 It would be pretty fair to say that, yes. The main reason is that tennis has become way more spinny over time. In order to give the ball that spin you gotta flick the wrist and it is way easier to do that with a lighter racket. Pros (most) though still use really heavy rackets.
Great review. So true, volleys and BH slice are a dream with the RF. On a serious note, you guys are Pros but you play with relatively normal weight frames. Why is that? Don't most Pros play with around 350g strung sticks? Does the new generation need more spin from a fast light frame as courts are getting slower? I'd like to see you hit on grass with the RF, and the other legend flat-players stick is the 6.1 95...

It is certainly very tempting to switch. It's great on the groundstrokes and the bet and it looks awesome. Though the gravity is a bit more versatile, that's the reason why I'm gonna keep it for some more time.
welcome to high swingweight boys. literally everything grisha described can be achieved on almost any frame with customization. once you realize that, you can truly start testing frames. If you have access to an rdc machine, you can match the specs between your gravity pro and that rf97. Then you'll have an actual understanding of what the frames are giving you, and the difference in the stringbed (gpro being an 18x20 and the 97 being a 16x19). I don't think there's a pro to date, maybe other than jack sock (332 sw reported) that plays with a swing weight lower than 340. it makes a huge difference in the depth and "weight" of your shot.

Wouldn't like our racket reviews to get too technical. Especially knowing that most people watching our reviews won't be adding weight to their frames. Once we get into customization, we will. @Nartinroseeefff Dsf no you wouldn’t, so that’s where the preference of frame comes into play. Having frames matched to a specific spec allows you to better determine the pros and cons of each frame ie; this one feels much stiffer, this one has a batter launch angle, this one gives me more free power, this one makes me feel more connected to the ball. At the end of the day it’s personal preference, but if the racquets are strung differently and have different balances, swingweights and static weights, it can be quite difficult to determine what frame is actually better.
If you are below than 5.0 … 1) This racquet is great for attacking but defense is not that easy .. 2) it’s very demanding and if you play opponent who likes to run and keep pace moderate you will get tired quicker. 3) it’s not that good on clay if you need to deal with topspin and high balls. Therefore it’s fun but not for competitive matches …
I (Grisha) definitely see myself switching to it in the future (maybe). For now tho I'll be loyal to my gravity. Areg would switch to the Autograph just cuz of the design. Let alone it actually being a good racket 😂
I would say that higher tension breaks strings quicker because of the higher stress. That's just an assumption tho and I'd say if there is a difference it's pretty negligible.
Used to use this racket. Honestly the best racquet ive tried. Returns and serves with it are just so fun. They take no effort. But my arm said no. And im still suffering the consequences of using it. Arm hurts with basically every racket. Using cx200 16x19 tour now which is the only one ive found yet that doesnt hurt my arm. Another great racket to use as well. One that doesnt do anything extraordinary, but everything good.
Got you, really sucks that the racket hurts your arm. Definitely an awesome frame if you like it. Haven't played with the cx200, though would really like to try it out!

Great review and I have the V13 version. There is no way my arm could handle that weight but I would love to demo it. I would figure by your words that the racket would have a higher score. Like close to 9.
@@twinwankel the racquet does make a huge difference though. Take novak for example, arguably the greatest returner of all time. His racquet has a reported swingweight of 370. this stock RF97 likely sits somewhere between 340 and 345 strung, maybe a little lower depending on quality control. Rogers actual racquet has a reported swingweight of 350-355. The higher the swingweight, the easier your racquet will win a collision with an incoming ball. Novak's racquet has so much mass that all he has to do is get that thing on the incoming serve and the ball pretty much goes where the strings are pointing. Another all time great returner, Andy Murray, used to play with a swingweight of 400+ in his younger years. He won the us open with a swingweight of 378. The racquet does make a massive difference to your game. (I'm a full time academy coach and professional stringer for credibility's sake). I'd highly recommend adding some weight to your racquet via lead tape, or demoing a heavier racquet if you want to feel the difference.

Deciding between this one and the regular Pro Staff 97 v13, or maybe even Blade 98 16x19 (but probably not the Blade) , but I can't demo them side by side, as they don't have demo rackets available. Which one? Help! 😁 Can you tell me your view on what are the main differences in the way they play, please?
Really depends on your experience and ability to handle heavier frames. The Autograph is a very demanding frame and I would 8/10 recommend that normal version. Even for myself I would go for the v13 and spec it up potentially to the weight of the Autograph but with my settings.

The normal version has a tighter string pattern in the middle whereas the RF is more open pattern, also, the normal version has a hollow frame as opposed to RF's foam-filled frame, but the normal has the braid 45 technology which makes it a tad more plush and flexible, in theory. All this means that the weight is not the only difference, they are very different beasts with the same paint job. Still undecided. The RF doesn't feel that heavy and it's not too hard to swing in training sessions, matches might be a different story.
Honestly I have huge problem choosing between these two, RF causes me acene and strong calves but everything else is perfect. PS97 does no harm to my body but feels regular

We're not planning to do a comparison video of those two in the nearest future. Although we might do it at some point. In my opinion the Yonex is very good in terms of control and you definitely won't be lacking any!
I dont play as good as you guys, not even near. Im only a recreational player who play 2-4times a week, 2-4hrs/session and play double mostly. But somehow i enjoy using this racket so much. I feel that my shots have good depth, power and precision. Tried other different rackets like PS97, pure aero, pure drive, ezone98 tour but nothing give me the same power and the good feel of this RF97A. Does it make sense when many other reviewer/players who play way better than me saying this racket is too heavy for them yet im enjoying it just fine and i actually made it my racket of choice compare to those rackets i mentioned above.
It actually makes sense. If you have a long swing and don't apply much topspin to your shots, this racket could fit you very well. It's great for playing the ball deep with a good amount of power. The rackets you've mentioned are more powerful under normal circumstances but I see why you might not feel like it.

Well, this is a completely different racket from your current one. The change might be very hard.
If you are below than 5.0 …
1) This racquet is great for attacking but defense is not that easy ..
2) it’s very demanding and if you play opponent who likes to run and keep pace moderate you will get tired quicker.
3) it’s not that good on clay if you need to deal with topspin and high balls.
Therefore it’s fun but not for competitive matches …

I (Grisha) definitely see myself switching to it in the future (maybe). For now tho I'll be loyal to my gravity. Areg would switch to the Autograph just cuz of the design. Let alone it actually being a good racket 😂
Lower tension (below52lbs) cause string torn faster or higher tension kill the string faster in your opinion?
I would say that higher tension breaks strings quicker because of the higher stress. That's just an assumption tho and I'd say if there is a difference it's pretty negligible.
Used to use this racket. Honestly the best racquet ive tried. Returns and serves with it are just so fun. They take no effort. But my arm said no. And im still suffering the consequences of using it. Arm hurts with basically every racket. Using cx200 16x19 tour now which is the only one ive found yet that doesnt hurt my arm. Another great racket to use as well. One that doesnt do anything extraordinary, but everything good.
Got you, really sucks that the racket hurts your arm. Definitely an awesome frame if you like it. Haven't played with the cx200, though would really like to try it out!

Great review and I have the V13 version. There is no way my arm could handle that weight but I would love to demo it. I would figure by your words that the racket would have a higher score. Like close to 9.
We had to keep the objective point of view. Although you're right, my overall grade would be much higher!

@@twinwankel the racquet does make a huge difference though. Take novak for example, arguably the greatest returner of all time. His racquet has a reported swingweight of 370. this stock RF97 likely sits somewhere between 340 and 345 strung, maybe a little lower depending on quality control. Rogers actual racquet has a reported swingweight of 350-355. The higher the swingweight, the easier your racquet will win a collision with an incoming ball. Novak's racquet has so much mass that all he has to do is get that thing on the incoming serve and the ball pretty much goes where the strings are pointing. Another all time great returner, Andy Murray, used to play with a swingweight of 400+ in his younger years. He won the us open with a swingweight of 378. The racquet does make a massive difference to your game. (I'm a full time academy coach and professional stringer for credibility's sake). I'd highly recommend adding some weight to your racquet via lead tape, or demoing a heavier racquet if you want to feel the difference.

Deciding between this one and the regular Pro Staff 97 v13, or maybe even Blade 98 16x19 (but probably not the Blade) , but I can't demo them side by side, as they don't have demo rackets available. Which one? Help! 😁 Can you tell me your view on what are the main differences in the way they play, please?
Really depends on your experience and ability to handle heavier frames. The Autograph is a very demanding frame and I would 8/10 recommend that normal version. Even for myself I would go for the v13 and spec it up potentially to the weight of the Autograph but with my settings.

@@gladiatorstribe I've been demoing and experimenting. The normal version has a tighter string pattern in the middle whereas the RF is more open pattern, also, the normal version has a hollow frame as opposed to RF's foam-filled frame, but the normal has the braid 45 technology which makes it a tad more plush and flexible, in theory. All this means that the weight is not the only difference, they are very different beasts with the same paint job. Still undecided. The RF doesn't feel that heavy and it's not too hard to swing in training sessions, matches might be a different story.
Honestly I have huge problem choosing between these two, RF causes me acene and strong calves but everything else is perfect. PS97 does no harm to my body but feels regular

Can't decide which one to stick to?
I am an offensive type of player, one handed backhand; who need more stable, good control power balance.
= Afraid to stick to Pro Staff RF97 for its stiffness.. (I suffered form golfer elbow a lot)
= Afraid to stick to Yonex Vcore Pro 97H its too much muted and the high flexibility might lead to less control (correct me if I am wrong).

We're not planning to do a comparison video of those two in the nearest future. Although we might do it at some point. In my opinion the Yonex is very good in terms of control and you definitely won't be lacking any!

I dont play as good as you guys, not even near. Im only a recreational player who play 2-4times a week, 2-4hrs/session and play double mostly. But somehow i enjoy using this racket so much. I feel that my shots have good depth, power and precision. Tried other different rackets like PS97, pure aero, pure drive, ezone98 tour but nothing give me the same power and the good feel of this RF97A. Does it make sense when many other reviewer/players who play way better than me saying this racket is too heavy for them yet im enjoying it just fine and i actually made it my racket of choice compare to those rackets i mentioned above.
It actually makes sense. If you have a long swing and don't apply much topspin to your shots, this racket could fit you very well. It's great for playing the ball deep with a good amount of power. The rackets you've mentioned are more powerful under normal circumstances but I see why you might not feel like it.

I will keep the pure aero because it is a fun/easy racket to play with. Im interested in gravity pro as your reviewed and your (Grisha) racket of choice. Do you think it might suit me in the stock form?
