      The political class never understood the problem of the working class. The crass manipulation of American workers and the dismantled social safety networks is a root cause of the disfunction we see now. The entire system is broken, and like many pundits, I agree this dystopia has only just begun. Climate change disasters will only make the disfunction more difficult. The legacy of Thatcher and Reagan neoliberal policies are the aftermath of these projects, like 2025. We're going to replace the legacy of the Civil War with a new Uncivil War. It's terrifying to imagine a year out from now. The working class has spoken, and they spat into the eyes of Wall Street.

      I'm so happy that the first comment under this video tells the truth. She's an implicit part of all that and still probably can't see her pardon it. Also, she says the Trump unlike Reagan was not the head of a movement in America. I called bullshit on that one.

    All the economic misery began with Reagan and continues to this day. Neither workers who voted for Reagan nor those who voted for Trump have improved one bit. People like Elon Musk are the big beneficiaries. Musk has earned back on the stock market three times the money he put into Trump's campaign. Make America Great Again = Making Trump Great Again and MEGA, Making Elon Great Again! So what a good choice!

    • @Russell_Huston
      @Russell_Huston หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      "..economic misery began with Reagan.."? If you think that, you are nuts. After an initial recession, which was the inevitable result of the measures necessary to halt a ruinous inflation, the economic level of activity grew at a healthy rate throughout the eight years of his term and continued for the first two years of the G.H.W. Bush term. And on top of that federal tax revenues grew as well right along with the level of activity.

    • @Otto-Nuys
      @Otto-Nuys หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @ The problem is that the average worker has not become better off. In America, income differences and certainly wealth differences have only become more extreme since Reagan, as the figures show. So economic growth does not tell the whole story.

But this interview finished her for me. When she recommended that Trump conduct himself during this transition calmly, quietly, and modestly so as to turn down the heat a little, Walter Isaacson nearly laughed out loud, as did I.

    Sick of some of these columnists who need term limits on their freewheeling dictates. Thank goodness Trump had his own speeches without thiis woman's "help." She never misses a chance to slam Trump in her elite little way.

    masculinity. What? Men, manly toughness also meant they died 20 years ahead of their wife from heart attacks and high cholesterol.
    Is that the masculine she wants back too because historically it is.

    For an excellent writer, she’s an inarticulate speaker. Her recollection of Reagan and his legacy is a total whitewash. And she’s forgetting how cruel conservatives have been to the working class, the poor, women, and immigrants.

    I think in general humans are reflective . For example my music was better when I was young . Society was better in the past . That's what Trump's runs on with his maga philosophy. Of course that's nothing . I grew up in the race riots of the 60s and seventies ., acid rain and nuclear Armageddon . Those things haven't disappeared but they are better than at that time but somehow we see those times are better because we saw it through the eyes of being young and as we age we get a bit grumpy
