Sad to see that the New Routemasters, the 3-door bus of London is about to be retired.
This marks the end of three-door buses in the UK, while in Singapore (and other places in Europe) it is flourishing.

3 door buses aren't as popular in the UK as bus services are less regulated by Parliament so companys don't like using them here as most bus services are commercially ran by the companies themselves which means they have to crackdown on fare evasion more

New electric single stairways with more up to date interiors, cameras, LCD infotainment, USB's, all that stuff.

Old RM was a totally different design. It was designed to be taken apart and rebuilt like a locomotive every 12 years. Thus it could have a 40 year life easily. The new buses are designed to be used and then scrapped after 12 to 15 years.

Tbf.. the first of these buses were introduced in 2012. At the time TfL worked on the basis that no bus would operate for more than 2 contracts.. ie a maximum of 14 years. Therefore the NBFL was designed to be withdrawn from 2026 onwards... which is probably what will happen... nowhere near as scandalous as Boris ordering the withdrawal of all bendybuses almost immediately which resulted in some buses being withdrawn when less than 5 years old.

I had no idea they cost so much....Shocking price. The very idea of scrapping them after just 12 years is an utter outrage, considering the RM lasted for over 50 years!
How is it, that the British people of the 1950s, could design and build a bus that could last for five decades, and today's generation, with ALL the advances in materials and computers....can't design a bus that lasts 15 years!!

They were designed to look like the original Routemaster you state. They look nothing like them. They may have been inspired by them and conform to modern standards and laws. Some were glad to see them go, but the RM and it's variations, RML, RCL, RMC etc. along with the RT's, RF's and STL's were testament to the best of british designs.

So it cost twice as much as a standard double decker. So here's an idea, we'll scrap them. Absolute rubbish click bait.😂 These buses are brilliant, at last a new bus built for London. Best bus in London service. All the others are just bog standard off-the-peg low build quality busses used all over the country, made only just suitable for London use by having two door sets. The speed at which the New Routemaster can unload a full passenger load at the terminus is well impressive. Two staircases is brilliant, and a great safety feature in cases of fires and crashes, one blocked and you can use the other. The additional platform door speeds up unloading. All of London's arterial bus routes should have these. A fully electric version should go into production immediately. Stop fobbing Londoners off with buses clearly not built to cope with London service. Khan stopped the ongoing production of these excellent buses because he couldn't stomach it being a Boris Johnson project. These were UK built vehicles. So now we have China building and supplying buses for London. Well done Mayor Khan, give away UK jobs. WTF?

At the time of the video's publication, their future were still very uncertain and there were talks about scrapping them instead of the typical mid life refurbishment. This has now changed and I have attached the article in the description. That being said it truly is sad that the new London bus will potentially be Chinese.
