When everyone else does the same video over and over again you always impress me with the quality content you always put out. This is a perfect reference video for me to look back on when I'm needing to discover these houses. I know three of them but I don't know the rest. So thank you for doing such great work. Sebastian.
I bought Atelier Cologne's Cafe Tuberosa because ot you. It's the perfect coffee scent i was searching for. Thanks for keeping us smelling great, Sebastian!
I live in South of France and I sometimes get amazed at how little the locals know about these great French niche fragrance houses! Now I know what to do in Paris next time I visit. Your knowledge in fragrances is unparalleled. Thank you so much for making this video!
@@ThePerfumeGuy Thanks for the suggestion, I'll surely check out Taizo! Cannes is just a drive away from Montpellier, I will surely make it happen next week when I visit Nice.
I live in the region of paris and I realise there's still so much to check out 😯 I feel I haven't even brushed on what's out there on interesting Fragrance houses! Great list, I have tried like 6 of these, won't be bored any time soon 😅
Sebastian , you’re an amazing man with a plethora of fragrance knowledge. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos while getting an olfactory education 🌟
Thanks for including bonus content about Annick Goutal, the French niche house where I started my perfume journey in 2007. Like you, it started with Eau d'Hadrian and now includes Neroli, Rose Absolue, Ce Soir Ou Jamais, Songes, Un Matin d'Orage and for my daughter, Rose Pompon. Next to try: Ninfeo Mio. Beside the reformulations under Goutal Paris, I mourn the loss of the gorgeous fluted bottles, some clear, some colored (pink, blue, etc.) and classic, traditional packaging. I hold you entirely responsible for my relatively new obsession with Frederic Malle, specifically, Cologne Indelible, Une Rose and POAL. Ditto Diptyque - Eau Capitale and Tempo.
Great list! I'd love to see you do a video on Italian houses. I've found that I have a lack of Italian fragrances and it's a weird niggle. I guess they're mostly too classical for my tastes. My top would probably be: Oriza L Legrand, Diptyque, Serge Lutens, Mancera and Etat Libre d'Orange.
Loved the theme of this one. A house you should really look into is BDK Parfums ,, some beautiful creations. Also , surprised that Atelier Des Ors was not on your list
Memo is one of my fav niche brands. Marfa brought me to the niche world. It was my first Memo fragrance. Now, Flåm is one of my fav of all the scents in my ever-growing collection. Lalibella, is a fav, along with the new Sherwood and Madurai. Still hoping to get a bottle of African Rose but it's so dang expensive! I'll def stop by the shop in Paris this summer when I go.
Thanks for the list, refreshing to see some niche house highlighted, can you also do other countries as well? UK, Italian and even American, thanks and great video
This is what I need rt now! Will you do an updated top 10 review of French Houses, British Houses, Italian Houses, American Houses, and Middle Eastern Houses, etc.???
Superb list. I can't do 5, but here are my favorite 4: Jovoy, Houbigant, L'artisan Parfumeur, and Guerlain. Niche all day, every day! (Montale's Dark Oud is deliciously delectable!)
I discovered Jovoy house only because I watch this channel, and it is quickly becoming my favorite house! Planning to collect all of their fragrances. Thanks Seb! I was thinking Jovoy or Frederic Malle would be your number 1 :)
Glad to see 1740 on your list! I don't wear it but I always recommend it to the fellas! It is absolutely a stunner! I also like that Grand Soir is here too! I totally agree that it's also a stunner! Shopping in Paris is always an experience!!! This was awesome!!!
This video makes me want to take a fragrance tour through Paris! Back to Black, yes! Another is Woman in Gold -- which is so beautiful and sophisticated! Atomic Rose by Initio -- a personal favorite. Wonder about your thoughts on that house. Also -- have you done a video on best new niche houses? If not, I'd love to know your thoughts.
I don't have the extensive experience and knowledge you have, but from the ones that I now, from 1 to 10: Stephan Humbert Lucas, MFK, , Frederic Malle, Jovoy, Histoires de Parfums, Mancera, Montale, Serge Lutens, Etat Libre d'Orange, Parfums de Marly. Definitely try Mamba, the Harrods exclusive from Stephan Humbert Lucas, right now is my favorite fragrance, they've opened their online store and they ship free to the USA on orders above €250. Thank for the video Sebastian!!!
That’s a great list! I definitely have to schedule a trip and check out all the boutiques. I believe Initio is a French house and if so it would definitely be on my list.
Where is Oud satin Mood?💓✨ So, great video! The first I think are: Aomassai Pierre G. 1869 Moulin Rouge Histrories P. Carnal flower Frederic Malle Ambre Fetiche annick goutal ✨
In older posts on your facebook group I found a Parisian house called Le Jardin Retrouvé and I was able to get some samples and ultimately purchased Citron Boboli and their Cuir Russie fragrances. I think they are fantastic! Interesting video, some of these scents I've added to my "check these out!" list.
Great list Sebastian and so many houses to choose from, but no love for Lubin (Itasca), Heeley (Cardinal) or Parfum d'Empire (Corsica Furiosa)? I agree that Jovoy's store is a must visit when in Paris.
I definitely agree with you about By Kilian. 2 years ago, I bought Vodka On The Rocks, and it came in such a glorious, showstopping case. Now, they just throw the bottle in a box & call it a day.
Ranking the following brands that I already tried smelling, as well as my most favorite from each brand: Atelier Cologne (haven't decided yet) Pafums De Marly (Pegasus) Frederic Malle (French Lover) Diptyque (Orpheon) Etat Libre D'Orange (You Or Someone Like You) Maison Francis Kurkdjian (Gentle Fluidity) Le Labo (Vetiver 46)
@@ThePerfumeGuy You are right, “aiguille” means “needle”, but here it is short for “talons aiguilles”, which means “stiletto heels”, “stilettos” or “spike heels”.
Thanks Sebastian! The new rising stars of French niche perfumery are Voyages Imaginaires, Obvious and BDK. I am sure you have heard about them. If you haven’t, go to Le Bon Marché next time you are in Paris!
Oh yes. Obvious Video here: th-cam.com/video/Oh8D6D5sBig/w-d-xo.html I have known about BDK since 2016, video coming soon and I know about Voyages Imaginaires and will look for them on my journey to discover new brands! :)
Great videos man! Your knowledge about fragrances is out of this world. You should check out Matiere Premier. Wonderful house! My favorite of the house is Parisian musk.
I like your video.❤️I will go to Paris to continue smelling...One of my preferred of my collection is Rose oud by Kilian. Now I order it directly frome the kilian site.
Great list! 👍 Great houses with some brilliant releases! Though we're slowly inching towards the Curse of Sameness... There seems to be a tendency for many houses to go for mass appeal fragrances instead of unique creations... 😔 Most big name brands appear to be afraid of trying "artistical" fragrances nowadays. Strangely enough, smaller houses and indies actually risk so much more than them, despite the weaker financial backbone... It's disheartening... Maybe it's just my imagination, maybe not... What do you think about this? On a side note, I'm really growing fond of Bon Parfumeur! Pretty solid small french brand. Love 302 and 401, the latter being the best Plum Japonais-like fragrance I found so far (why, Tom Ford!? Why!?😭)
I feel that there is a greater responsibility/accountability asked of the perfumers in big houses, that is from the shareholders and the need to generate profits in the green. I agrée it’s pretty disheartening to follow a brand and note the more mainstream-leaning offerings in recent years.
I’ve loved Pierre Guillaume perfumes since it was Parfum Generale. I adore Sunsuality in the summer and have several of his fragrances. Some of them don’t last long though.
Pierre Guillame is very underrated house, and if you'd tried more his fragrances - you would definetely place him in the first 5. Can't compare artistic Pierre Guillaume vs kitschy commercial JHAG or byKilian. And considering Pierre Guillame is the only perfumeur working for his own house, and not just a bunch of marketing guys writing briefs for Givaudan/Firmenich noses - he definitely deserves higher placement!❤️
