How to enter Shadow Temple Early with a Hookshot Jump

- In this video I will explain how to perform the Hookshot Jump in order to enter Shadow Temple early, without needing Din's Fire or Nocturne of Shadow.

This is a commonly used glitch in speedruns, but it is also incredibly handy for randomizers as well, since Shadow Temple has a lot of chests to get. Thanks for watching!

Is there a visual cue for the hookshot press or raw mashing, can u start buffering hookshot before the bonking or does it have to be on the audio cue?

This is very interesting as I also learned just now, that you can use Navi for infinite sword glitch. I wondered whether it was possible or not, but since it is I can use it for a randomizer I'm playing at the moment.
If you do this and complete the temple early, does it effect things later in the game? Like cut scenes for instance? If you complete this temple and then the water temple, would you still get the cutscene with Sheik in Kakariko Village? I read completing the water temple sets up that cut scene trigger, but if the Shadow Temple is already completed would the cutscene still happen? It would be interesting to see how doing things at different points than the developers intended would affect the rest of the game.
Invisible walls blocking side jumps on seam? Side jumps jumping you forward on seam? Why bad? Setup for seam walk near door?
No idea why this showed up in my recommended but it's always cool to see one of my favorite games from literally a new perspective!
I've personally found it a bit easier to do the hookshot jump off of the fence in front of Dampe's hut instead of the hut itself, since it requires very little angle setup, even if the side roll is simple to perform. The downside is that it's close enough to spawn the Poe, so you'll need to correctly perform the jump on your first or second try or else the poe wanders into the wall and becomes a headache to target for ISG. The fences in the graveyard in general are useful for practicing hookshot jumps since you can also do the same thing off of a different fence to get up to the crate with the piece of heart.
This made the speed run so much easier 😎😎
After the shadow temple here you won't be able to leave unless you have dins fire. Definitely a scary temple

TIP: Just spam hookshot before the 3rd time, it doesn't need to be frame perfect and link won't react to you pulling it out in this state anyways

do you need to keep holidng L/Z to focus the camera after bonking or should I let go? trying this and it is proving quite tricky!
So that means Sheik won't be inflicted with a neck injury from that big fall?

Is this possible on 3DS? I want to do really weird orders for all the temples, and this would be a fun dungeon 2, right after Fire.
It is indeed possible on 3ds! It works basically the same way but if you have any issues you can search youtube for a video by benstephens56 showing it off on 3ds!
Video cuts right before the first obstacle which is a hookshot pit. Can you get over it with und hookshot or do you need the longshot anyhow
It's short enough that you can just about use the hookshot, no longshot required :D

The bonk is easy, but what follows not so much (yet).
Is this better than the bomb jump (or whatever it is) that people used to do like > 10 years ago? It still seems rather precise to me.

What versions does it work on cause I can’t get the bonk to work
Should work on any version of the N64 OoT, including WiiVC, WiiUVC, Switch Online and Gamecube. The bonk is pretty finicky, sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't for seemingly no reason, the best way I can describe it is after side-hopping and rolling, immediately hold up on the control stick and keep holding up until you bonk, sometimes I don't get the bonk though and I don't know why :(

How do you do the 90° turn?
Tilt the stick just slightly to the right after hitting and releasing the target button, and you'll turn

Does this work on OoT3D?

Does this break the game somehow?
Nope! There's nothing that becomes impossible or doesn't work if you go to the Shadow Temple early, it's just a cool trick that useful for speedruns and randomizers, or if you just wanna have some fun :D
@@LinksterGamesbut what happens once u go to kakariko village after it’s been destroyed by the shadow monster if you’ve already completed the shadow temple?
@superman2957 The trigger for that cutscene is having the Fire and Water medallions, and it will still play even if you've done Shadow Temple already, which is somewhat humorous but doesn't have any negative consequences on the game, Kakariko will return to normal if you leave and re-enter :D

I'm currently playing through Majora's Mask again, I'm way less familiar with MM than OoT, but I'm making it my goal over the next few months to get about as familiar with MM as I am with OoT, and when I am I will definitely start making MM videos showing cool glitches, tricks, and all sorts of stuff :D
